    A little feedback... I think you guys showcase a lot of specs and that's good, but it's difficult to follow which model you're talking about at times. Perhaps putting the model number on the screen with the specs when you're talking about it will help.

    I got this laptop because of your fantastic review. BLEW my old desktop OUT OF THE WATER in all games I play (I play VERY demanding FPS titles). I doubled or even 3X+ in several cases. I got the 4080 variant for 1999! What a deal. I HIGHLY rec any of these lap tops even at full price. I sadly can't order the 4090 in my states (SO DUMB) other wise I would have gladly paid the extra. But I've found the 4080 is TRULY A BEAST even on the most demanding games. For work it effortlessly handles my most demanding multi-tasking with EASE. Battery is GREAT as well (I do primarily run it plugged in but have taken it out on travel and its done great in long meetings) I CAN NOT recommend this laptop ENOUGH. I see this being future proofed for the next couple years EASILY.

    I had the Legion 7 for about a week. I returned the machine as the case made a severe creaky noise when opening or closing. I do agree with the noted heat values. If you attempt to place the machine on anything other than a flat surface, it will get rather warm, and even throttle. I now have the Legion Pro 7i. The Pro 7i for 2024 is a fantastic machine. I love how the CoPilot Key is built into the keyboard. I only issue to note for the Pro 7i is the installed Tobii software. If you leave the function enabled and put the machine to sleep and awaken the machine, you will get an error while attempting to use the function. Make sure you turn off the Tobii function before putting the machine to sleep. Your Team has, as always put together great reviews of the latest Laptops on the market 🙂.

      @@BRent-kh5xi The weight and thickness is noticeable. I wouldn’t go as far as to say the thickness is doubled, but one should expect it to be heavier. Also, when I had it on my dash mat on my desk, I did receive some core temps at around 96 degrees. As soon as I removed the rubber mat, it provided the clearance the fans needed. Make sure, if you get the 7, you have adequate ventilation. If you were to get the Legion 7 and not the Pro, I would get it with the 32gb of ram. You can currently pick up that machine for around $1999 at Best Buy. I was able to get the Pro 7i from Lenovo with a pretty good discount. If you do purchase the machine from Lenovo make sure you get version 9.

    Originally I was looking at the "slim 7i" but I found a great deal on a Pro 7i (2023 model). I've been really happy with it for over a month now. It has performed flawlessly. What sold me on this model was the price, higher specs, and the vapor chamber cooling. The slightly thicker case also enhances cooling and it's almost as portable as the thinner model for my purposes. I doubt you could go wrong with any of these so it comes down to your specific needs and how thick your wallet is.

    Seems the CPU is struggling a bit on the 7i, 95 degrees in performance mode while gaming is quite bad (most likely throttleing). I guess Lenovo should've renamed their cooling system to "hot front", not "cold front" or whatever it is xD Maybe the i7 14700HX variant of 7i is better suited for its slim chasis. Also the display is a weird choice, 3.2K for a 4070@115W is a stretch. Good for content creators I guess, bad for gamers since gaming at a non-native resolution looks weird. Guess I'll pray that my Asus lasts another year or so, while waiting for a better performing / cooled slim-ish design laptop. Thanks for the review , really good !

      me personally i would much rather prefer the legion, the display on the m18 is just 300 nits and 165hz which is an absolute deal breaker for me and the Alienware command center software is also said to have many problems. On the other hand the Lenovo vantage software is just so easy to use and feature rich. I just bought a legion myself too, so i can tell you that its just great. But if you think that you just want a 18 inch laptop you should go for the predator helios 18 or the scar 18. The helios 18 with the mini led screen often goes on sale for about 2700 usd, so it would be cheaper than the alienware. But between the helios and legion i would still pick the legion.

    Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i 16 G9 could also be included because it is also a 16" laptop with a RTX 4070. Yoga Pro is aimed at content creators, so it's thinner and has low-powered Meteor Lake CPUs, but CPU should not matter that much in games with a 4070. I guess Yoga Pro has a better battery life and speakers than Legions.

    There are 3 versions of this panel available in 2560x1600
    100% sRGB 350cd/m²

    No one, because Lenovo does not provide free fan control. The Pro 7 has the best cooling, but fan control is highly unoptimized. Example Furmark: In Performance (8:55) it runs with full power of 175 watts and nearly reaches the temperature limit with 84°C. Great! In Balanced it runs with only 105 watts (70 watts less than full performance!) although the gpu is 20°C below thermal limit!
    The GPU could run much faster or the fans could be much quieter. But at least the latter one cannot be achieved through Lenovo's custom mode, because fan speed cannot be lowered, but only raised which is totally stupid. 20°C below thermal limit and we are only allowed to raise fan speed. FAIL!
    We need free fan control to tweak temperatures and fan speed INDEPENDENTLY. I would like to set the temperature limit to 80°C (4°C less than on Performance mode in Furmark) and set the max fan speed a bit lower than on Balanced mode and let thermal throttling automatically detect the maximum power within these two constraints.

    The laptop still runs just as good as it did on day 1 and this is with the model that had supposed hinge issues. Although I baby my tech gear I’ve thrown everything at this computer, from gaming to intensive editing sessions and have been really surprised at how well it’s held up. On the fence about upgrading because I know it’s still got at least another year or two in it but there’s always the tech FOMO lol

      @@NotebookcheckReviews it would be nice to have a chart for non- performance related factors like keyboard, build quality, trackpad, portability, display. it would be somewhat like a teirlist . eg : The columns would be laptop models, rows the above mentioned features. The rankings would be *Excellent, Good, Average, Acceptable and Poor.* OR your channel's usual graphs.
      let's say first feature is build quality then legion 9 would be excellent( since it has a fully metal build, hinges are not glued or plastic), legion 7 and 7 pro good( almost full metal build ), legion 5 pro average( only lid is metal), Legion 5 acceptable ( metal lid but not as sturdy as pro, flex).
      This maybe extra work but regardless thanks for reading.

    Thanks for another great informative video. I've been waiting a while as I picked up the Pro 7 4080 back in February when it was released. What a great machine it is for the cash! I was originally looking at the 7, but after playing around with it at a buddy's house I decided it wasn't for me. I think the web cam on the 7 kind of sounds echoish to me whereas I get compliments from my professors about how good the video is during meetings. They don't believe me when I tell them it's just a 1080 lol Also, not enough ports for sure. The speakers too are not cutting it for me. The Pro 7 speakers sound much better. I only wish the trackpad was glass and they gave it a fingerprint scanner or ir cam for easy sign in. Either way they're all great machines. I just wanted better performance for gaming and rendering and the 4070 just doesn't cut in my opinion. So, like I said they are all awesome units but my pick, obviously since I own it is the pro7. Thanks for the great video. Keep em coming.!

    I wonder why all the smaller laptops this year caps out at a RTX 4070. The 4080 and 4090 gives so much more performance. Not a good year to buy smaller laptops.

    • @NotebookcheckReviews
      @NotebookcheckReviews  Před 3 měsíci

      It is probably because that is what most people buy.
      Take the 2023 ROG G14, for example. Not many people are willing to shell out that much cash for a 4080/4090 in such a form factor, so they slimmed it down and maxed out with a 4070 in the 2024 version.

    • @FakeReal007
      @FakeReal007 Před 3 měsíci

      @@NotebookcheckReviews if that were the case you would think at least one brand would have a 4080/4090 model, but since every brand stop making it this year I wonder if it was an Nvidia decision that stopped them from selling it. And $2799 for a RTX 4090 G14 isn’t too crazy and way cheaper than a Razer and other brands with 4090.
