  • Replacing a bad capacitor on a climate control board of a BMW E36 is relatively easy with the right tools and minimal soldering skill since this is through-hole soldering rather than surface mount.

I know this video is 8 years old but I just bought my E36 that I wanted since I was a kid. The climate control was dead and following this video helped me fix it. Thank you very much man, I appreciate it.

What was the fault/error symptom/issue that lead to replacing the bad capacitor?

you do not need to replace it.. just re-solder it. ;) this film cap is basically lifetime in compare of electrolytic cap.

that is normal. there is a small fan in the climate control unit that pulls air over a sensor for the auto fan feature.
