FYI - if this procedure isn't working for you, try what @mtrhd suggested: simply add a single click on the lock button after you perform the secuence at 0:30 That worked for him and might work for you as well.
I've been trying to program my keys on my 97 e39 528i and all I get after these steps are a flashing key fob, about 10x. No lock and unlock sequence. Idk what to do

Great video! Do you have the features for closing/opening all windows when you hold lock/unlock? Should work with the key also - hold lock/unlock. Fyi some of the models have heated locks also /winter package/ ( engages when just hold the handle up for 10s. Love this cars! So much innovations for those years

Gracias Gonza! Yo tengo el foxwell 520 con el soft de Bmw y de Peugeot. No lo muestro mucho en el canal, ya que para los thp uso el mas simple icarsoft que tambien tipo el soft de Peugeot. Pero te recomiendo el foxwell esta tremendo! Tenes un e36

I have e36 1997 and i have only 1 key it was working fine 2 3 months ago and then it started malfunctioning only unlocking today it was locking also but again it is doing the same please anyone have any idea what's wrong?
I boutht a blank (uncoded) chip from ebay and have it coded by a local shop here in Buenos Aires. It was a bit of a gamble, but it came out great! Dealer prices are way to high and they don't even know how to deal with classics...
Hi, thanks for the video. I'm trying to register the 2nd key (both keys turn the car on and lock the doors without remote) I'm having trouble with the final step. I'm following everything per the video however the doors don't luck/unlock. And somehow the 1st key remote stopped locking/unlocking the doors. Any advice?
+mtrhd That happened to me as well, I registered the 2nd and then the 1st one stopped working. To solve that I registered both keys instead of only the new one. Did you try that already?

Well I think all (post 1995) E36s came with keyless entry system, at least here in Latin America. But that might not be the case in our region. Paste below the last 7 digits of your VIN (chasis) number and I will check it for you. Mine has an option called 302 ALARM SYSTEM and you might not have it. OR the previous owner lost your OE keys...
Correct, that was my case as well. But you need the transponder/chip to start the engine if your car has EWS system. But the remote will work perfectly anyways.
Open your current key and check if you have the transponder/key in it. If you have it then you will have to buy and code one of those. If not, you are good to register the remote and start it
I have try several times on my E46 320i m sport but it didn't work and my key is a different key because it has only two buttons... I don't know what do to do..

Mas voce verificou que o chip (transponder) está lá? Nao tem outro controle ou llave para probar? Faz luz quando voce aperta o botao do controle?
hi can i do this with a key that has another chip and electronics, and with a current remote lock that is retrofitted? e36 318i 1992.

Yes, old keys will be overwritten since it has memory for 3 or 4 keys. At least that is how I remember it.

Nao, au trocar bateria nao deprograma nada. Permanece salvado no sistema. Tem luz no controle quando voce clica?

I can turn the engine too, since it has the EWS chip in it. What I show in the video es to register the key remote in the car.

Ebay, but the thing is getting the transponder (chip) that should be blank (to be written) in order to program it with the new EWS module in your car.
