  • Special F/X artist Tim Gore shows how to paint urethane casting resin using Createx UVLS 4050 Gloss Clear as an adhesive coating direct to the resin for excellent adhesion. Bloodline colors are airbrushed over the 4050 Gloss Clear ground-coat, followed by a few coats of UVLS 4052 Matte Clear for a matte finish.

    You're the very best in the business, Tim Gore. A really big inspiration to a guy who's been a SFX Makeup artist for 35 years.

    What airbrush is Tim using? I'm looking to paint Smooth-on 65D, and was thinking I would follow what he did here, but am hoping to get some direction on the airbrush.

    Oh! I’m very intrigued. I’m making training rifles from Smooth On 57D. The way I have to make them, the color comes out inconsistent. So, I’m contemplating painting then a bright red. Think the same method here might work? What other prep was done to the resin before that clear coat? Thanks!

      For painting Smooth-On 57D, please start with AutoBorne Sealer, www.autoborne.com. How would you go about painting a metallic chrome finish with the quicksilver paint on urethane castings?
    I know it's critical for the base to be glossy, and it's actually pretty easy for me to pigment the urethane black and buff the urethane itself to a gloss shine. (Zam polishing compound is incredible.) Can I spray directly onto that, or do I need to apply (and polish?) a coat of 4050 before the quicksilver?

      Quicksilver can be applied direct to a polished, urethane base. Allow for (and test with a test panel) adequate drying time to ensure good adhesion. Test a full 48-hour cure versus 24-ours, 12-hours or less. Thank you.

    Thank you Tim, can you please share what 3M PPS part numbers system you are using with the Iwata TH2?

    • @CreatexColors
      @CreatexColors  Před 3 lety

      There is no part number. We custom-made a fitting so the 3M PPS cup can be used with a TH2. Thank you.

    Great video,very helpful,about the Creatx UVLS 4050 gloss clear,can it be spray on a paint primer /undercoat too to give next layers of paint more adhesion?
    I already have the Gloss clear coat 5620 to achieve gloss varnish on my resin kit,can this gloss coat can be used to achieve the same result as the 4050 UVLS or not ?
    Please let me know,thanks very much !

      4050 UVLS Gloss Clear is the best adhesive coating Createx makes for most substrates including resin cast. While other clears may adhere well, including 5620 Gloss Clear, they're different products and not the same, do not have the same adhesive properties as 4050 UVLS Gloss Clear. Thank you.

    It's 'tenatious' hahahah What is the difference of using regular Createx or Bloodline?

    • @CreatexColors
      @CreatexColors  Před 3 lety

      Createx Airbrush Colors and Bloodline (part of the Illustration Colors line) are water-based acrylic paints, each with a different color palette. The acrylic s used are also different, with Bloodline having a delayed curing for soft erasing soon after it dries but before the paint cures. For more, please refer to the Technical Data Sheets available at www.creatextech.com. Thank you.
