I totally agree with you about a cohesive decor style for all rooms. Nothing makes a house look smaller and cheaper than whole different color scheme and style in every room. That upside down light fixture was funny! My favorite thing is that you took a chance and used vertical and horizontal wood in the hall. It really looks great. I think we worry too much about being matchy matchy.

*Julie, you have inspired me to get to work revamping my house, a bit at a time, as I can afford the materials. As a single woman who has always been a DIYer, (when I was getting ready to get my 1st apartment as a teenager, my 1st purchase was NOT dishes - it was a drill to be able to build bookshelves, LOL!) I have not been intimidated by tools, but I have been intimidated by doing wall projects like you have done in your home...until now. You give me the confidence to change some walls and to paint some silver light fixtures I HATE in silver and change them to GOLD, which I think will make me love them.🤎 THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH for giving me the nudge to get started. 😉 Knowing about that Ryobi Nail Gun WITHOUT A COMPRESSOR is a GAME CHANGER‼️🥰🤪😉*

This is probably my very MOST favorite of your videos! I'm a Midwestern girl, but for some reason I love Louisiana. And those prints are just so satisfying to look at! I want to shiplap the main wall in one small half bath, but I have to wait until Summer when I can bring my miter saw back from the farm, about 10 miles away (too cold and snowy right now). No place to put it here except on my deck. But it's easier and much quicker to make straight cuts with it rather than my circular saw. I can cut the panel pieces on the table saw at the farm and bring them in here. Be glad you have a garage, a basement, a CAR PORT! Anything, besides just a deck or patio for a "work space'. LOL. And youth. Youth is on your side, girl!

Everything looks so great. It was worth all your hard work. I like the shiplap and vertical boards on the hallway walls. You need your own show on HGTV instructing women how to do carpentry

You are a shiplap super hero! Just put a nail gun and a paint brush in your hand and you can conquer the world. You amaze me at your carpentry skills😊 I barely even know the half tick on a ruler!! I’m so proud of you for making your house a home for your family and doing it on a budget. Like you said, it’s hard work and labor but the end result was grand😊 now go pack and ship all those packages! Teresa

I must say, I have enjoyed your journey redoing your home in Mississippi, but I honestly was in awe over your transformation of this space. This redo was my favorite of them all.
I was shocked when I saw the dark wall in the stairwell. Then the carpet sample looked perfect, but it did look brown when it was put down. I giggled when you said you couldn't take it and repainted. It just looks amazing now. I notice the hotwheels right away. It was a nice touch. Your nook with the mirror is a perfect fit. I hope you can finally breath and call it home. From all the angles, your house has become a home. Be proud, you did good.

We redid our stairs by using cabinet grade plywood cut to match risers and the painted them. Then for the treads, my husband used cabinet grade plywood cut to fit then finished the edge with trim and routed the edge. We stained them and it was so beautiful. Sorry I don't have a picture because it was in our old house but it was a huge budget saver and looked amazing! That should be something you could do!

i have no doubt i could have made treads and redid the stairs myself but that wasn't really a job i wanted to take on by myself, i just have so much other stuff to do
