Love Leyland cars. Takes me back to when I was young, and The World was my lobster. Binged on your newly discovered work. Thanks. Peace be unto you.
Fascinating to see the CRAYFORD convertible! The shape so begs to BE a convertible! As an Allegro Club member (25 years ago), I met some other members, one of whom had a WHITE convertible. And he let me sit behind the wheel, and had my picture taken!
I LOVE the metallic plum colour of the car called CRUNCHY! And the affected area of the roof simply adds character, in the way that silverware sometimes tarnishes!
Well done on the 1K subscriber count, nice to see all the Allegro's and their different states of condition...good video Alex and thanks for sharing.
George is in good company with Peggy, Agatha and poor Crunchy!
And featuring all of my subscribed channels!
I would love for your Mildred to meet up with Peggy!
Well done Alex, thank you!
Had 2 Allegros in my time a S Reg LE back in 1985 and then a 1.3L Allegro 3 L or Fast Back as i used to call it.
Love them XX
Great stuff Alex loved it and nice to finally meet you!
Excellent video wish I could have been there, Little George did well 👌🇬🇧
Great video Alex I did not realise how many Allegros are still about.
Thanks mate!. Yes it was a great day :)
My favorite Allegro is the (1979-1980) Series 3 estate with the round headlights.
Well done for hitting 1K Alex. Well deserved, It was a fantastic day i really enjoyed all the cars. Thanks for the link but I don't use hashtags on my channel so that won't work. 👍
Hey. Lovely to meet you, and I included your channel details in the video description :) x
@@AllThingsAlex Really nice to meet you too 🙂
Thank you for this, brings back memories of my 1978 1500 Limited Edition in Tara Green, shame there was only 1 of that colour in your video. I also had a 1978 1500 Estate in Red, both cars are no more sadly. I ended up getting a 1978 MG Midget instead which is in someone's garage on SORN 😉
The Austin Allegro is now 50 years old and the Hillman Imp 60 years old.
Thankyou for sharing & superb you had a great day. All the different colours bring back so many memories of been on my paper round in the early 1980’s
Looked an awesome weekend, what a great turnout, thanks for sharing. Work got in the way otherwise I would have brought my VDP. Well done on 1k Subscribers, keep the great content coming 👍
It was a great show. 12 VDPs in total I think. Plenty to see!
Great video Alex. We were there in our series 2 limeflower second car next to the merch. Thanks for the upload. Cheers Paul
Watched the 1994 21st anniversary Cars the Star TV prog and looks like most of the ones featured in the show are now gone or been off the road for over 20 years. Only 1 still on the road was Colins VRF.
Learnt in a 1.5 LE passed my test then bought a 1.3 series 3 HLS beautiful car .
I live in New Zealand. We assembled the Austin Allegro here in the 1970s. We didn't release the Allegro with the Honeyconb grill. We had the one with the tooth style grill. I heard that in Britain when they were released in 1973, the steering wheel was square shaped. It was a mistake so they were changed to round steering wheels. I might be wrong ?. If so let me know.
Early Allegros came with square steering wheels. It was a design feature which made them a bit unique. However they didnt find favor, and where not that popular, so by the series 2 (mk2) they were replaced with a more traditional round one.
@@AllThingsAlex Thank you for the information. I was correct then. They are very advanced in car design with their rounded shape.
It's easy to tell the earlier Series 3 models from the later ones, even though they looked so much alike. The earlier Series 3 models (1979 - 1980) didn't have the Austin-Rover badges on the grills.
Nice one on a thousand mate!
So near to being a world beater
Just needed to of kept with Harris mann design
Congratulations on the 1000 subscribers! Brilliant video, its great to see so many Allegros in one place! 👍
Thank you. It was a great day!
My uncle had a purple TC With black final roof. I loved it as child, you don't mention any in this video are they not a lot better than a standard car?
I was commenting on what was there. If I'd stopped to talk about everything the video would have been hours!
@AllThingsAlex ok sorry to trouble you 🙄
Ah ..my first 2 cars ..1300 2 door then a 1750 4 door..😊
I'd heard that the dealership, SPIKINS, of Twickenham, had about a dozen convertibles made. Were those perhaps made for them by Crayford? Does anybody know?
Fun to see all these together.
BTW it is not pronounced Vaden Plah. It is Vanden Plassssss
Whoops. I couldn't remember if it was one or the other :) Thanks for watching.
is it me alex or is peggy higher up than george?
Possibly. The suspension height was set up by the Kennedys (who are specialists) so should be correct.
ROK 981M. Isn't that a press car?
Has had some fame, and Vanguards do a model of that exact car (Inc reg no) :)
