I've seen a ton of these in different manufacturing shops. You put gloves, tape, cleaning products, and other common items in there. Then people scan their badges and pick their items. Makes it really easy to assign costs back to different cost centers.
This short is amazing! In an alternate universe you bought a brand new vending machine and made a 16 minute video about how it works and why you use it.
That original stock board was probably designed over a decade before the arduino board ;) but yeah modern microcontrollers are awesome. Espressif makes a module with 400kB of RAM and WiFi connectivity for less than $2 now. Would probably blow the minds of anyone with a PC in the early 90s.
because previous controller can interact with cash acceptor, coin acceptor, change, probably RS-232 too to connect to the PC. Not sure if they somehow managed to connect arduino to all of this with that amount of memory... They probably didn't.
back before i went to college I worked at an amazon warehouse that did this. Gloves, box knives, and everything else you needed from a job free from a machine.
The coolest part of our studio that we only stocked once, because why would you stock it again because you already have the thing you need outside of the thing? Because it seems like it would be absolutely futile, if you didn’t film this for a CZcams short.
Hey i reconise that place your in my mum's area (she works at new zealand couriers) your near race dental and the ponsonby countdown and also your studio should be in crummer rd gery lynn.
Still doesn't justify to build this one. If you're aware that your equipment is expensive you should be more responsible and at least have inventory system for your belongings.
Well, fun fact, if you don't know. Many businesses use vending machines like this to keep track of inventory of disposable items, like glue, safety glasses, and such. They do not charge for them, but do need a badge to make a request. This kind of track to figure out how to minimize waste. In turn, increase profits. Also, find out who the fuck keeps using up all the glue!
Factories mostly. Large. Small. Really, keeping track of product is very important to see where to save money and where to spend money. Information is very important to run a business. Without it. You might as well just not open one.@@simonbirrer958
@@simonbirrer958 When I worked at a business in detroit, it was super common for people to swipe stuff and just pawn it off or take it for personal use, or even to “forget” to return it. Stuff like copper wiring and expensive glue was pretty common theft targets.
Tip: Put the most expensive lenses on the top compartment compartments for extra suspense
This is genius 😂
How did you edit this? That's the best part of this vid
Hey James! It’s a mix of After Effects & Resolve mostly - we’ve got some tutorials on the channel if you want to learn more
@@SyrpLab thanks im gonna check that out

Man it's clear you guys put a lot of work into this. Good job!🎉
the dust almost made me sneeze
Put one of those out on the street in Burbank 😂 also add some cigs for the grip department
I love how that whole stock board can be replaced with something 3/4 the size and still work

As a stage manager, I LOVE that you made a vending machine for (amongst other items) spike and gaff tape!!!
In Gaff we trust!!
Good to see lean practices implemented outside of the factory floor. Try 5S next
We have had these in shops forever. They even have awesome wide ones built into the wall that spin like a Ferris wheel To the section you need.
Underrated Channel

That's pretty good I thought it's there just for looks. But it's functional. I'd love to make one of these myself
can you do a much more detailed video. Please because i want to do a similar project

Fastenal does this as a service
You made a fastenal vending machine
So you just used the shell..? All new insides?
Here's a cheaper option: Shelf with organizer.
The fact that you keep losing your things makes you irresponsible.
Right camera equipments are pretty expensive $$$

Looks like the vending machine they had in the DAKTORY. Bought many marijuanas from it back in 2009.
Could have just kept the controller and set the price of everything to 0
Damn, you automated... a shelf

@@Qardo still hard for me to imagine at what scale these businesses operate if they need to save money on...glue? Safety glasses?

Its not innovative enough for content. Literally already seen this in aviation warehouses, NASA,... this isn’t original
I edge to your videos
