Ah I love "meeting" your dad. I'm a contemporary with him. To hear him consider how people around the world searched for meaning and found (and still find) connection in music... what a fine gentleman your father is, heart, soul and mind. Thank you for sharing a bit of your dad. And yes Santana is incredible. Thank you Sebs.

It's easy to express our admiration about your father's wisdom and insight. As for your brother sharing his experiences "finding" the music that many of us grew up on, or enjoyed recently, is a pleasure to watch. He feels what the various artists are telling the world.

You're lucking having such great men in your family.

1969 Santana performed at Woodstock, blew everyone away, and all the gente in California and East L.A. took immediate notice of a new icon performing a mix of rock and latino sounds. It was electric! Have loved every one of albums ever since. He brought his Tijuana background and merged it with San Francisco rock...and the rest was history.

Music has been a human connection for millennium. One tribe sharing with another. Then one city with another, and then countries. Now music is universal, or at least planetary.

Your Dad is very interesting and what a fascinating life he's had. I love your Papá.
Growing up Chicano in CA, I grew up from a child with Santana in the background of my life. It's the music from our barrios with that Latino sound of our parents with the Rock of those of us born American. This music was a key part of our unique identity. To me Santana is the soundtrack of being Chicano. From the lowriders cruising the Blvd to the parties at someone's house to my older brother smoking those funny cigarettes with his friends as I listened to the music in his room, feeling all grown up, to Sundays in the park, Santana was always there. The first concert I went to was Santana. Santana will be played at my funeral, that's how I came in and that's how I'm going out.

That was an excellent video, thank you for that. I am around your dad's age and can relate to everything he was saying. He is so right, seeing Vietnam on tv every night and seeing the horrors of that...every young person wanted a different world and not more of the same, and the music that grew from that is still some of the best music every conceived, in my opinion, which I think is what you've been learning from your excellent channel. Peace. (btw, Black Magic Woman is originally a Fleetwood Mac song, written by Peter Green in the days of FM long before the famous version of the band that everybody knows. Your Dad is so profound with his knowledge. Too often we don't take time to share moments like you just did, with our parents.
The music of yesterday carried a lot of meaning, missing from the more modern sound. Probably why I'm not a fan of much that has come out since 2000 to now. You could get lost in a different time when you hear "old school" music. I gravitate from the 1920s and 30s swing era to the beginning of the 1990s, and I love Opera.
When my kids grew up there was a huge variety of music played in our house. My son became a self-employed DJ because of the variety he enjoyed. He even did gigs for Senior Citizens because he could bring back memories in their life, just by the music he played for them.

Thanks for sharing this time with your father. He is a precious man and has so much wisdom to share. May I suggest that you get a small recorder, am old so I guess you would use your phone, to record him sharing his memories and perspectives on growing up, and the history during that time. As a nudse, I have had the privilege to care for some of the last WWII vets. Many opened up about their experiences serving during that time. Often I would hear stories they had never shared with anyone. I always relayed these stories to their families and encouraged them to record, or write down their stories. I encourage everyone to find a way to ask the questions they are curious about and record the stories and answers. We are losing the best repository of history to age and attrition. Really enjoyed you and your dad!

I am SO thrilled you have finally had your dad by your side for a little while. When you talk about him, it reminds me of the love I have/had for my father🤍🕊️ he passed 1/4/21 my parents' 41st Anniversary, he was 63, and I will be 40 this year. Not one second is more important than making new memories for you and your girls that will resonate forever. That is how we continue honoring all the wonderful memories, stories, and love they left in our hearts❤️‍🩹!!

I was captivated listening to your father. He was so insightful about music and it’s influences. I think a documentary about his life experiences would be supper interesting.

I could listen to your dad talk about the time and music and culture of that era forever. His perspective brings me much food for thought. I am just a tiny bit older than your dad and I too remember the first time I saw that movie about Woodstock. I remember seeing the Vietnam War on tv, the hippies, all of it. Muchisimas Gracias por los recuerdos.

In theaters soon, the movie "Carlos", the story of Carlos Santana. The trailer is out already. I saw them last year and was blown away, it was an amazing show. His wife is now the drummer for the band. I enjoyed listening to Your Dad talk, very interesting person, Thank you.

What a beautiful video this was. A gift you shared with all of us. I think you need to interview your dad more and put that content out, too! Such a beautiful relationship of two amazing men. Thank you for this.

I love this video! Probably my favorite video on your channel. My dad passed away when I was five, so I never got the chance to have these moments. The moments where as an adult he sat and told me his life experiences and I learned what made him who he was. I'm 42 now, and I still have a hard time with that. So thank you for posting this beautiful video showing how much we can learn from our parents and how we should take the time to enjoy them while we have them. GREAT VIDEO!!!

Carlos is a brilliant guitarist and musician, instantly recognizable and no one sounds or plays anything like him, for many decades now, never doubt 'dad music', dad knows plenty of things we don't, music included; check out "Soul Sacrifice" from the 1969 Woodstock concert, absolutely electric performance!

Santana has always been one of my favorite artists! So incredible! Makin’ that fretboard sing. Black Magic Woman takes me back to the Sock Hops and dances we went to in the 70’s. Great memories! Your dad is such a great guy!

I actually was about your age when Woodstock happened. I knew most of the music that was played there and both my sweetheart and I loved Santana. I'm looking forward to watching both of you with this song and group. I still have my Santana albums - started with records, tapes, CDs. I was 13, the American airlines were on strike. My mother worked for Pan Am and we took a flight that landed us in Guatemala. Half of the US flyers were also there so it took us about 4 days to get from Florida to Guatemala to California to see my older sister. I enjoyed my sister and her family but it was so cool to see all kinds of things that I'd never experienced before. Thanks for sharing your dad with us. What a treat!

Santana is a force of nature. His guitar and song writing are some of the best ever. I have loved him since the days of Woodstock, though I was too young to go then. I love listening to him, and I'm one of those that would blast him driving around in my teen years (and do now, more because I did then and need the sound up higher now!)

I bumped into Carlos on the streets of San Francisco and when I saw him, I screamed out his name like a crazed fan... CARLOS!!! In his cool, normal fashion he looked at me, held up his fingers in a peace sign and said "Love and Light My Brother". I'll never forget it
My wife looked at me and said "Really?" 😂😂😂
