Welcome to another Bimmer Fixer Video. In this video the e60 gets android Auto a much need upgrade and bring the entertainment system up to date.
I made the install as detailed as possible so i hope you find it useful. Also a big thank you to Autoabc who very kindly sent the Linux screen out to me and answered any questions I had very quickly. The link is below if you want to take a look.

Do these have any cool display wallpapers or themes so it not just boring look when driving
@djvenom1842 Yeah they do there's about 10 to choose from but I think there's a way to add more or use personalised wallpapers I think anyway.
Did you had to disconnect the battery negative cable first before installing the android unit.
@HaKiezCanShuFFle1 Hi, I didn't no just turned the ignition off. You can always disconnect the battery to be extra safe.
What about parking sensor can show in the screen parking sensor distance.?
@sahitdedushi It's comes up if you have the original home screen on. I think you need to change settings for it to come up on new home screen. But a camera is easy and cheap to fit too if you want too.

Hi BF, impeccable timing again, ordered unit gets here next week. I will need to do the AUX addition at the back of the unit as my car didn't come with an AUX plug at the back of the centre console (previous owner swapped the headunit for one that has the AUX option). I noticed that your new AUX cord doesn't have an inline resistor, but, all the ones I see on Amazon do. Will the resistor have an effect on the line output like the original BMW AUX socket did (before you bypassed it)? Hopefully this makes sense.
@petermenz5994 Hi Peter, thanks for the comment and great question. I'm not 100% sure that's a very valid point I don't think it will...... That's got me thinking now. I'm sorry I couldn't be anymore help.

Hi Peter, I have just put the link in the description for the AUX cable I used. I can see what you mean about the inline resistor cables, they are everywhere.

Do you know RAM this uses as I know they can be quite slow on certain models ?
@jjatv6390 Thats a great question, I'm not too sure but I will find out for you. It runs very smoothly so I would think its at least half decent. But will try find out for you.

I've just tried to order one of these for my e61 530d 2009, I'm in the UK live near Middlesborough but the Autoabc site says that shipping not available to this address, has anyone else experienced this?
@skidillydiddily8571 Hi thats annoying! Last time I saw that it was because they were out of stock but instead of saying that they say can't be delivered to that address. Have you messaged them directly?
It was last night I tried to place an order with no joy with my address, I've just tried again a few minutes ago & low & behold order successful!

@skidillydiddily8571 Thats great news! Let me know if you have any questions. Something worth trying is not connecting the AUX cable to the AUX socket in the car. The other day I unplugged the AUX cable but the music still came through the speakers! Probably a bit clearer too! So try play some music before finally fitting everything back together. It might all work without the Aux cable 👍🏻
With the touch screen,it does seem a long reach…,I went for mmi,original screen,via original menu,using the original toggle👍

I went for the M12v unit , I favoured the drive wheel use over the touch screen , also aux audio isn’t that good compared to Fibre optics offer with the MMI units.
Hey buddy, I'll assume this is still functional with the earlier M-ASK iDrive System (2006 E63 650i - small screen, no Navigation)?

Just installed one today, looks great and connects but i cant get any music or sound out of it. The screen resolution settings all come up with the green/purple (as shown in the manual under faq) but i cant change the aux setting on the OEM because of it. No reply of autoabc still. Any suggestions?
@bradshelling9945 Hi, you need to set the screen resolution to your orginal screen size then that will allow you to select aux.
@@TheBimmerFixerthanks for the reply. Yeah ive tried all of them. I cant figure out why. One shows a bit of the OEM screen but it just bounces around. Manaul says to power off each time after changing and ive tried that too. Its the CCC type so almost identical to your video except my radio is smaller
@bradshelling9945 They have sent you the right screen haven't they! On the the box it will say ccc or cic worth checking.
Yeah they checked a picture i sent and said its this type. Nothing on the box say CCC 🤔. Research now and it could be a M-ASK unit. 🤦♂️
I’m after doing a bit of research myself and mine might be a M-ASK unit also, as the screen isn’t the large ~8 inch size and I only have one CD tray? Let me know if you’re able to get yours working!
Considering buying this for myself, have you been using it daily since you installed it? if so how has it been so far in terms of quality and general performance?
@doobyscooby8413 Yeah use it every day and don't have any complaints. Something I found out was that the head unit seems to work via Bluetooth without connecting the AUX cable like I did in the video. I would say the sound is better like this too! I don't think the manufacturer even know its possible to do that way as they say connect the aux cable.
@@TheBimmerFixer I'm not totally sure i understand what you mean by that? do you mean that the head unit works without the need to purchase the aux cable that you used in the video? If so how does the head unit communicate with the speakers in the car if not by the aux input? sorry if im not understanding what you meant by that. I'm sold on this unit so going to be purchasing very soon for my 2008 520d. Only thing that confuses me slightly is the aux female cable that you plug into the back of the connector. would you recommend just purchasing the exact cable you did and follow along exactly as your video? Thanks for the reply earlier by the way i appreciate it a lot
@doobyscooby8413 Yeah its working without it being connected to the AUX. It must be working by the fiber optics cables and the harness adapter. Yeah probably best to do what I did in the video first then try it without the cable and see if it works. Then you can choose what works best for you. 👍🏻

@Rik530D Hi, if you ordered through the official website you definitely haven't. I know of lots of subscribers that have ordered with no issue. Definitely worth emailing them to confirm the order though. There can be a delay in response so hopefully they should get back to you ASAP, the email hasn't gone into yoir junk or spam folder has it?
I took a screenshot but have had no email or text to confirm the order and they do not respond either WhatsApp FB Messenger FB Profile or email so I’m becoming very suspicious
@Rik530D Thats a good idea good thinking on the screen shot. Im really hoping it's just a delay in communications. I haven't heard of there being any issues before now. Please keep me posted.
