If you have a doppler radar app will it come up so you can watch a storm while you drive?
do you have to use gps splittter or can you bypass straight to new deck and just use the gps on that or does it require the factory gps for it to work? Thinking it still should work on the new considering its a tablet with wifi

I installed the Avin unit in my 2010 e61 and it works pretty well. I remember seeing a video that showed how to launch CarPlay when selecting one of the main red tiles (nav, apps, settings etc). I want to launch Carplay when I select Navigation. Can you show where I can find this? Thanks again
Can I ask why you may need the aux splitter. My car came with the parrot device, so not sure if that's connected to aux, and if I will need splitter?

About the Aux cable spliter, I understand that one end goes to the AUX port behind the center console, what about the other end? can you please elaborate on this? Much appreciate it 🙏

@@EvanGoyuk Hey man i followed your video but i'm having an issue with my sound. Is there any reason why you specifically used the splitter cable instead of just one long aux cable? I have no sound coming from the car play unit but all sound from my i drive works. I've noticed when i try to set the aux volume on my CIC it allows me to adjust it but keeps resetting back to 0.

Hello E van, I have a 2009 BMW E60, 535I, I have tried repeatedly to get the Bluetooth to work on my 2022 Avin stereo that I installed using your video as a guide, during your video, you touch on the auxiliary connection but it’s blurry and not quite clear to me if this is a three connection splitter or just an interconnect from audio out to the auxiliary port in the center console, if it’s a three connection wire I would assume it’s two males and one female, our vehicle has the CCC unit and everything works except for Bluetooth, any help or advice would be appreciated.

Hey @Evan Goyuk 'm installing this unit using your video. On the main wiring harness there is a long white and black wiring harness with what looks like a speaker attached to it. What is that and where did you install it?
Yes I had the not sure what is for but I just tucked behind the dash
@@EvanGoyuk OK I found out - it's a speaker for the GPS so if you're listening to the radio from iDrive you can still hear the GPS instructions.

Thanks for the video, I have the same unit for my BMW E90 I set it up the other day but I am having a major issue whenever I receive a call the Bluetooth screen take over the radio and I am locked out from using any other app. Until I end the call, Waze navigation stop moving and stop giving direction. I cannot keep the call going and get any other app on the radio. Same thing happen if I’m using android auto, if you don’t mind can you please do a test on your unit and see if you are using Waze and receive a call if you’re radio locked up. Can you use any other app while in the car over Bluetooth. look forward to your answer thank you

The car radio is on, and the CD player is reading, but there is no sound?
What aux splitter did you use for the sound, I can't get sound out of mine, I ran an audio cable from aux out to my aux Jack.
It came with an aux splitter
You have to switch the car to the AUX setting - in my install I didn't need to run a cable to the external AUX port it just worked.
Hey I have done exactly what u did and everything seems to be working fine except I got one issues when I press and hold on the menu bottom it won't change to I drive and Bluetooth music won't work it's only playing the old factory screen radio any idea why it won't change the screen to the old when I press and hold on menu bottom thanks

I just bought that some black dongle 4 android auto.. but lost steering wheel controls to skip tracks in music! needs some password for the black dongle's Autoplay software, I asked avin they said they dont know... see if u can find out and make a vid/comment!

You can't do that update. Because you no longer are running that software.

If the unit itself supports Bluetooth A2DP for phone and music streaming, do you really need the optional CarPlay adapter???

Evan Goyuk where do I buy the CarPlay cause I am not getting any type of sound coming from it or Bluetooth finding of my iPhone accept for it finding the hotspot connection to the iPhone. And mine doesn’t have the auxiliary in the console, is that a necessity for the audio to work with the speakers since it’s all still using the loop fiber optic.

@@EvanGoyuk not at all. dead set on bmw but all the older 3 series are not maintained well in my area so I've been looking for 5 series 2004+. I'm open minded to look at any of the body styles

I got one, but it's too dim. I put the brightness all the way up, but the Master system keeps it at 50%. How do I disable the DIM of the head unit when the headlights are on? I need the screen to be full brightness all the time.

I recently installed this head unit in my 2006 e61. It has no aux connection. I connected everyhing and I have no Bluetooth sound but fm radio is working from the original set up. Whatever sound that is coming from the head unit is not reaching the speakers. Do you have any idea what this can be. I dont care to use an aux cable. I'm fine with Bluetooth and/or USB. I'm assuming there is a setting somewhere that will correct this. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

I'm at the point that I exhausted all possibilities and found no other solution other them connecting an aux connection. After installing everthing it still didn't work. Took it to someone to code it and it still didn't work. Now I have to take it to bmw to update the firmware and then code it in. Still waiting for the free time to do that.
You need to run the aux cable from the new radio to the aux port in the car. Only have for audio to work

Yes just make sure to remove the fiber optic cable of the old harness and into the new one. the fiber optic cable is the green cable. Look at 10:36 in the video

I just install this and everything on the android works great; however, i can't switch back to the ccc unit. All I am getting when I press the menu is a clock. Any idea where i went wrong? Great Video.
go to factory settings type your passcode in, in the menu there will be a option to check at top and it says android screen that has no oem screen, Uncheck that box and everything will work. It happened to me yesterday when i was installing the android head unit.

Great Video but you lose a lot of the classic functionality built into the original unit for reporting of the vehicle. Whether it is worth it is another question. Great video, thanks.
Since you can still access the original system, what functionality are you losing?
@@aznazguy The question is will the original system as seen on this unit still actually report service information, engine oil status etc etc.
@@rivolinho Think of it as a replacement monitor with two inputs. One input is the same as OEM. When you've selected that input, you're seeing the same system. So yes. The other input is the Android side. The original system's CPU and all that is in the head unit below the OEM screen (CD slot, hard drive, etc), not in the screen that's replaced.
Another analogy is replacing a regular TV with a smart TV that has a Netflix app. You can still watch what you could watch before with your non-smart TV from the HDMI/cable/antenna inputs, but you add the ability to watch Netflix through the smart TV's app (as long as the smart TV has internet access). For some android head unit features, it is your paired smart phone that provides the internet/GPS/mobile network connection, or you can on some of them have a SIM card in the head unit.

How much time does it take to boot? Does it have to boot up every time you stop and start the engine or when you take your key out?

Bálint Fodor it takes about 5-7 seconds to boot, nothing crazy. In my car the accessories stay on for a few minutes after you shut the car off so it will also stay on unless you press the button again. Boot times are not long enough for me to ever try out the reverse cam while booting. I don’t think it switches to the reverse camera while in CCC mode becuase it locks itself into that mode although I will try it later.

mines I have set to go to sleep mode when turn car off.. so it starts bang instantly..
almost no power drain.. guys on the e46fanatics Avin thread measured it and it's nothing.. so cool 2 set it not to power down.. set it to sleep instead 👍
By the way I tested the reverse camera while in CCC mode and it does switch to the camera when you put the car in reverse
