  • During our Thailand travels, we stopped over in Surat Thani on our way to Koh Samui. We had read that most people pass through the city on their way to Samui and at most spend the night. We decided to explore the city over several days, and we are so glad we made this decision. We fell in love with Surat Thani. You can find lots of authentic small restaurants, beautiful temples. What surprised us the most was how much we enjoyed the night markets, especially the Saturday Night Market which was possibly the best night market we have ever visited.

We completely agree. It was very interesting for us to visit, and we only saw a very small part of the city. We hope more people will take the time to explore the city on their way to the islands. Hopefully our video is popular enough on CZcams that more people will get to see the beauty of Surat Thani and they will be curious to visit.

Hi @livingworkingoutsidebox. We were actually quite surprised at how much we enjoyed this city. We can almost always find a positive in every place we visit, but Surat Thani greatly exceeded our expectations. It's always nice when that happens. We've been very fortunate to have enjoyed a spectacular travel season so far.

The yellow rectangular cake Stephanie had looks like our manioc cake, and the round cake you had looks like our banh bo, but they would probably taste completely different. I wanna try them.

Hi @saigonese.nguyen. Those cakes sound good. We like sweet food, and there seem to be a lot of options in Thailand. We will need to find a place to try manioc cake and banh bo when we return to Vietnam later this year. We did not try very many sweet foods during our last visit unless you include iced coffee ❤️❤️. We had bánh rán in Hanoi which was amazing, but we couldn’t find it in the other cities we visited.

@@388_days The South of Vietnam got influenced by Thailand and Cambodia, so the foods will have two trends: sweet with coconut milk and sugar (usually in cakes) or sweet and sour (usually in fruits or salads). Those cakes I mentioned are streetfoods, but I am afraid your stomach will not get used to with them and might get diarrhea (the vendors sell them around, not in a foodstand), some streetfoods in my country is not safe. There is one casual restaurant with reaasonable price in District 1 in Saigon named Ngon where you can try the sweet desserts safely. They dont have banh bo and manioc cake but they have something better. It is my fav place.
I found Thailand is good for my traveling style, which are streetfoods with friendly people and reasonable price. I also found Lao, Luang Prabang specifically, amazing. Will you two travel to Lao? I am returning to my home country in April after my final exams, but maybe at that time you are not in my city so that I can guide you. Ah I would also like to travel to Surat Thani haha. It looks like a nice place with a lot of foods. I might think about it. This is the new place that your channel brought to me.

The island park is one of my favorite places. Great place to run and walk. Crazy, i've never seen the water that high there. At night you can see more people play sports like Sepak takraw. There is also a building you can climb up the stairs and watch sports from the top!

We are so happy we decided to walk over to the island park. It was such a nice experience and so different from visiting the city. It was crazy how high the river was when we visited.

Beautiful. Thanks wonderful people. Yes, I will definitely visit Surat Thani for a few days (that boat trip looks amazing, on the to do list for sure) before heading to Khanom Beach for a month. Very soon I hope. Thanks again. 🥰😎

Thanks for watching. The boat trip is totally worth it. Khanom Beach looks amazing. Is it a more of a local spot? I was not familiar with it until you mentioned it.

To be honest, i have never been there, unfortunately. But i have done my research, and i am pretty sure that this is the place i want to retire, very soon. Looks like they have their fair share of tourists, but it seems very quitet and calm. I am an passionate bicyclist also, so this will be the perfect spot for me. There are some nice YT videos already, but i would love to watch your version. Take care. All the best, Torgeir.
