While I was there, they were building a new highway in front of the airport. Maybe they've finished, but I doubt it.

The overnight sleeper train is 800bt or bottom bunk or 700bt top. 12 hours. 6pm to 6am arrival in Surat Thani. Spotless train from Bang Sue Station Bangkok.
