    My adult son, who has autism, has personal care workers, and most of them are immigrants! When my parents were in assisted living most of the caregivers in their assisted living home were immigrants. There are not enough Canadians want to do this type of work, so Canada is really in need. The medical system (ie. hospitals) can be very difficult to work in because there is a shortage of workers, so everyone is over worked and it is quite stressful. Several of my son's workers used to work for AHS and found it to be very stressful, and moved to caring of individuals who still live at home with their families, but need care during the day and they find it a lot less stressful.

    It is fascinating to me how times have changed! When we moved up here to the GP area 15 years ago, Newfoundlanders had been moving here for several years because of lack of employment opportunities there and here there were so many jobs.

    • @DiAndersons
      @DiAndersons  Před rokem +1

      Absolutely. GP was an hub for sure but with the increase in population and popularity opportunities are becoming a bit more difficult. Still present but not as apparent. The Atlantic Provinces have identified the need to develop and has been making tremendous strides to provide opportunities for its population.

    It is my dream, as a lifelong western Canadian, to at least vacation in eastern Canada one day, if not move there for a few years! It is so beautiful. Newfoundlanders are known to be the most friendly community minded people of all Canadians.

    Just a gentle comment to reconsider the stereo type that Canadian's are lazy ... I've never heard us called that before! Of course, there are always some lazy people in every country, but there wouldn't be this great country to immigrate to if we were a lazy people! :)

    • @DiAndersons
      @DiAndersons  Před rokem +1

      This is true. In every country there is a rhetoric and stereo type that doesn’t reflect the entire population. I appreciate this comment.
