  • Hello everyone! Today I'll be showing you several simple techniques that I like to use on printed papers. This is a great way to save some printing ink and get those digitals to look a bit more vintage and distressed. I also dye a piece of fabric at the end. I intend to use it for a new journal cover. I hope you enjoy it!

Hi Saacibo, thank you for a great tutorial. I love all your methods of making patterns on paper - brilliant and inspiring ideas. Sometimes I do the coffee/washing-up liquid, blow the bubbles, and place the paper on top of the cup. That way it gives a lovely texture and you can actually feel the bubbles when the paper is dry!! But I prefer your method. I really love how you make things on a budget. Some people use so much expensive stuff, it's impossible to achieve it when you don't have the finances. Thank you for doing that, as it's achievable for everyone😊 Have a lovely week ahead, take care, xx❤😊😊

Very cool! I’ve seen Barbara from 49 Dragonflies do the bubbles by leaving the bubbles at the top of the mug. She then brings the paper to the bubbles and taps them around the page. That seems to work really well.

I sat fascinated through that entire video. I'm so glad you got dyed fingers because I always end up that way when I work with my handmade dyes! The bleed-throughs are the best - they almost look like they have been in a very damp environment for a long time. Can hardly wait to see the journal!

The papers turned out great. I've been doing all kinds of dying paper the last couple weeks, including manila folders, envelopes and fabrics.
I also tried using unsweetened Kool-Aid powder drink mix.
I soaked paper in coffee 1st, laid it on the grass outside, then sprinkled some powder on it, didn't work out the best, the papers dried to quickly so there wasn't enough moisture for the powder to "melt" onto the paper.
Next round I added more coffee to the paper with a paintbrush, then sprinkled the powder on, worked much better, and the paper smells like the colors, orange, grape, cherry, lol. Next I'll try and soak the ones that only ended up with dots on them, in the coffee again and see if I can get some movement of the colors.
After watching your videos on making and using rust water, I recently dyed papers and then added rust water to a spray bottle and oh my, love them, turned out great.
I now need to get a large sponge, and give that a try. Rain expected the next 4 or 5 days, so taking a break from dying paper, I like to do it outside in the summer months and hang on the clothesline to dry, mhm. 😊
Love your videos and ideas, thanks for all the inspiration!!!

Thank you so much for sharing that technique with powder drink mix. I haven't tried, maybe one day I will. I love experimenting. I try to dye a lot of papers in the summer, also. it's just so much more practical and easier to do it outside, no mess to clean after😊

When doing the bubble technique hold the paper above the bubbles and lower it onto the bubble mass. You will get more individual bubble prints and less total coverage.💜🐞 41:21

I love your channel for videos like this one, where I learn a lot, get surprised ad inspired to try shown ways and potentially go further with them. It is a shame if your experiments and empirical evidence are not eventually documented to some extent in a dedicated book (like Natasa’s from Treasure Books), you should totally write a book!
    My memorabilia/inspirations from today’s video:
    - I should
o Use my B&W laser printer to print ‘colored’ images (with the help of applying dyes later)
o Take photos or scan most successful fragment after experiments (for printing & enhancing further with dyes and, again, taking photos of those)
o Prepare light cotton cloth for whipping (to be used in crafts later) & stencils
o Print on thicker paper (100 gsm) which will allow for minimal coffee dye coming through from the other side.

      @Saacibo  Před rokem +1

I'm really glad you liked the video and found inspiration in it. That makes me happy, so thank you for leaving the comment.
Oh, writing a book seems like a big job, but who knows, I'm not saying yes or no. 😊 Until then, we can all enjoy Natasa's book, I know that she worked on it so hard, and I can't wait for my copy to arrive 😊❤️
