The key is, in fact, yellow. The one you have is the secondary key, which is grey.
Removing the centre screen is not the answer. The Purosangue removed the centre screen, but when you try to use Car Play, it takes up the whole driver display, removing the rev counter and so forth. Not something you want with a performance car. Car Play was designed for a centre screen. The real cure for the problem is to just up the processing power. Such an easy fix that they couldn't make work. Hm.
To me it is one if the most beautiful Ferrari's that has been made in the last decade. It is absolutely stunning.
I agree. Plus, flashy supercars stand out to everyone including cops. The best cars are subtle speed demons that can blend into traffic if needed.
Yes. I'd go even further. To me, it's the only truly beautiful Ferrari in years.
Other recent Ferraris are impressive, agressive, have high performances but are not pretty.
And now the new 12 Cilindri - which everyone will hate for 5 years until they say it's the best looking Ferrari since the early 90's. Because it is.
And everyone will pretend they always said this when in reality it's just me and 4 other people.
It should be in the Louvre.
I remember the first time I saw a picture of the Roma. Finally, I thought, after so long Ferrari have designed a beautiful car again.
Excellent review James, I have a Roma and managed to get over 400 miles on a tank when travelling through France, although as you say this changes when you use it to it's potential. It's much more comfortable than the 992 base that I had previously.
I don't like the centre screen either but if you use apple car play and voice command to change the air con it's OK.
It's my first ( and will be my only) Ferrari and I'm in love with it!!
Wishing you many happy miles!
Man I'm jealous, it's a magnificent machine. There is just something very special about a Ferrari that you can daily drive without having to visit the hospital twice annually to get your spine rearranged.
I hope I can afford to buy one some day before IC engines are no more.
@@torgejh9189yes this 100%. I've always adored the 599, owing to its potential for being daily-able and smashing big miles across the continent. That useability combined with that Enzo-related V12 is just perfection 😍
Hello ! From your personal experience, can you fit 4 people in it or not ?
I borrowed a Roma for the weekend, while I was waiting for my Tributo. The Roma was the first Ferrari I ever drove, and I thought it was a blast!
Beautiful grand tourer, fast af!
Jealous! Lovely car you've got into.
Wow, I remember watching this guy when he was getting less than 1k views per video. So happy for him
Thanks for joining in the journey :)
The intro was really well shot, I had to watch 3 times to let it sink in.
High praise for the most beautiful Ferrari in years. Seems like the perfect one Ferrari garage. Imaging arriving at the opera in Rome. You open the door for your, Italian off course, girlfriend. While she is waiting in the lobby you go park your Roma. Walking to the opera you look back at the car and think god she is gorgeous. The car I mean. Meanwhile a Pista in the street is bouncing off the cobblestones making a lot of noise and drawing attention from influencers..... The Roma, a future classic for sure. Nice video. You fell for the Roma, it's so obvious. 😄
For some reason I keep watching all your videos and keep smiling. I dont know if it is your voice, your story telling, or the cars, but somehow you are activating my brain in a nice and endearing way. I am like, life is great, life is fun, thing are going to work well and my imagination feels stimulating. Something that I notice is that I am missing showing the cars being driven more. Too many videos use the POV or inside the car view, but I actually want to see the car going around, I guess it is really hard to record.
I recently saw one of these in person parked in the wild. Im a huge car buff, and I was utterly dumbfounded when I saw this model. It has a very unique profile, it doesnt really resemble a ferrari at all. Im personally not crazy about it, but it seems like its aimed at a more refined and mature ferrari buyer. It has a really sleak and charming profile.
This and the 296 have brought elegance back to Ferrari. The rest of the range is just... too much really. If this had a manual and none of the silly touch screen buttons, it would be on my dream car list in place of an Aston DBS.
Agree it's a very handsome design.
A unique profile if you’ve never seen an Aston Vantage.
Not "unique" at all. It looks like Ferrari stole the design specs from Aston and/or Jag. Not that it looks bad, it looks great, but certainly nothing original about it.
@@TML34 you're right, but the Ferrari is nicer than both imo. Not by much tho.
When I first saw a Roma a year ago the first thing that came to mind was Ferrari released a Daytona remake. I've always loved the Daytona.
I live in a swanky part of london and see one of these regularly in red and in the swathes of exotic cars rolling about this just looks SO suave. Very aspirational for the non adolescent minded.
I will never have one, but that's a gorgeous automobile from every angle. The only Ferrari design I've adored since the 246GT of my youth.
I think the Roma is the more Ferrariesque of the current Ferraris.
Even before we get into the review, gotta say I’ve always thought it’s a very very pretty car. Also, that paint colour is lovely. Granted, I’m one of those who always say ‘if it’s not rosso corsa, is it even a Ferrari?’ but on this model, that paintwork looks superb.
What about Rosso Mugello and Rosso ferrari, those colors are wonderful,
Red is the worst colour for a Ferrari. There isn't a single Ferrari that looks best in red. Why the customers keep ordering the worst colour is beyond my comprehension.
@@JohnFromAccounting F1 relations, I guess. And probably for red being an 'iconic' colour. Then again James got a Rosso Corsa F12 and 550 and they still look amazing in my opinion.
Also this colour is Bianco Italia, a pearlescent white. Looks stunning.
the Roma is a great car for those who do not want red, it looks great in in everything but red
As a person who absolutely loves everything about the Roma. I was surprised when Ferrari brought it out. As Ferrari never really appealed to me. But when this came out it immediately slotted into my dream car slot. She's so beautiful.
I think the really nailed the brief of appealing to new customers
@@JayEmmOnCars perhaps, but I think it won't be unanimously liked by the 'older guard' if you will, but then again it has to pass regulations that would strike down the more classic ones now... Like 308 and Testarossa, although it does strike me as a sort of spiritual heir to the Testarossa in several ways. I like it, but if I could pick and prancing horse to have forever, it leans heavily towards the F40, but the Testarossa 2nd coming is right up there.
Future classic
In white with those wheels this car looks amazing 🔥
That was a great review J better and more informative than any other review i have watched well done
For me, I like the styling and I like the F-type, and the rear is a bit Porsche 928 too. Also, when I was a kid, my brother and I bought packs of top trumps cards. The card I coveted was the Ferrari 365/GTB 'Daytona' in blue ( Top Trumps pack 'Fast cars -old and new'). I'll have to imagine what it is like to own and experience a Roma.
I’ll be honest I prefer the looks of the Portofino M. But the new DB12 wins my heart in this segment
Gotta love any front engined V8 Coupe.
You are an amazing reviewer and a natural presenter and seem to have lots of knowledge about these cars. You are very pleasant to watch and listen to and your cinematography is also on point. I would say you will be one of the most popular car reviewers in no time. Keep it up. Very entertaining indeed!
Just popping in to get this in my watch history for later viewing.
Love your stuff jay emm!
An absolutely fabulous review. The intro was also spectacular sir.
I love love love how fast you talk and your cadence. There is 5x more info in your reviews and I am hooked.
My favorite video you’ve done so far. Great job.
I'm a tifosi, I love Ferrari, and I know Ferrari options lists are a horrorshow, but I'm still terrified listening to the price of the options. GBP8k for painted Scuderia shield... I love the painted shield but at 8k it's terrifying.
Won't stop me from buying a 296 if I had the money though. Or maybe a secondhand 430 Scuderia.
man 0:31 is such a money shot, those kind of feelings are what i always dream of capturing
Great review for part 1 James, nice to hear how the Roma goes on British roads. Thank you.
After that intro I'm kinda hoping you've got Arrivederci Roma cued up for part 2 😁
My Roma has Apple Car Play and Android Auto. I'm surprised the press car doesn't have Android Auto 🤔. And I've taken it to IKEA 😅
Excellent review! This is my favorite Ferrari from all post 2010 ferraris . Looks really agressive , wide and luxurious
Most detailed and thoroughly fair review of the Roma so far. 👌
I’ve got to say that nobody does a full in depth car review as well as this channel . Everything you could possibly want to know if you were a potential buyer - the attention to detail is second to none .
you realy do some amazing car reviews :) this channels shoud have milions of subs
That's incredible aerodynamics to go 199 MPH. People don't appreciate what that takes. And to do it safely.
Thanks J, great review, looking forward to Pt 2! 🙏🙏
Any chance of a fleet update please?
Another superb review James
I often wonder why people put down plastic as a automotive manufacturing material. Like it’s just some cheap substance. Plastic happens to be lightweight, strong and can be made in so many colours and shapes. I’d imagine when it was first introduced people were probably over the moon with it! Anyways, can’t type any longer, I’ve got to get back to my job at the plastic manufacturing factory.
Buttons! Just give me buttons. The Cayenne 958.2 is a master class of a cabin for example.
I love the Roma styling, maybe because i'm not a Ferrari guy. I do love Grand Tourers and this ticks many boxes. Great in-depth review as always.
I’d have one in Yellow. No other options. It’s value would skyrocket in 50 years!
"good news everyone!" Loved the professor Farnsworth reference!😅
3 years old and still looks new and beautiful. The designers did an excellent job with this.
It's the only ferrari that I think looks good now but it's to aston martin or jag ftype like for me , a bit to generic looking
Uhhhh they literally stole the facelifted Jaguar F-Type design
Not really sure. It doesn't look like a Ferrari, which isnt a bad thing because that was the direction they wanted but there are angles where it looks all wrong to me. The matching colour grille is terrible and front on there's too much bulk over the front wheels making it look narrow, giving it no muscularity. Maybe it's legislation on car design.
I agree, though it does seem quite colour sensitive.
I enjoyed every second of this review! I can’t wait to check out those rear seats for myself 🙌
Great video, Jay. Glad you did the Roma again. This car is stunning! A car I would buy for myself without compromising with my wife and family. If Ferrari wouldn't send a hitman after you, a video comparing this with the DB12 would be interesting and useful. The first time an AM is truely tempting, but the real test is if Jay doesnt get grumpy in an AM. 😅
The large gap between the door and the interior/mirror controls was probably introduced by some Swiss guy saying it would be unsafe otherwise and fingers would be trapped.
Great, honest review as always. They could learn from the DB12 for the Roma's facelift; better infotainment and bring back some physical, satisfying to use buttons!...
I hope they will, but Ferrari can be very stubborn sometimes...
The intro was too majestic.
Dope!!!
Great choice of cars and reviews recently Jay.
Thanks Steven! I'm a lucky boy
It looks surprisingly good in that metallic white. But check out one in that electric/bright blue--amazing!
also, another awesome vid, no surprise
Great Video! Like the Intro with the changing music very much. - The gap between the doors and dashboard saves Ferrari a lot Headaches. That is one of the hardest parts in the Interior to get perfect matched up. So many parts involved to make that perfect. Starting from the construction which holds the Dashboard, the Dashboard in several pieces itself, the door, the inner part of the door and the Door card on top of it -again made up from several trim pieces. When not matched u perfectly with no gap, it looks still not good. So a lot of manufactures skip that and make their life in terms of assembly way easier and efficient.
Still insist that the prelude got this perfect.
Brilliant James. Living the Roma life
There are many Ferrari’s to like and a few not to but the Roma is just perfect…a really useful, pleasing to drive, practical, fast and achingly beautiful car. It is my favourite real World Ferrari….just wonderful and I know why some would buy other models but not me,,.one of those please!!😀😀😀😀😀
Shades of the Ferrari 365 GTB in the Roma. I think that's what Ferrari was going for when they tagged it with "La Nuovo Dolce Vita". It's a beautiful thing. Like the 458, doesn't have the scoops and vents (mostly because of its front-engine layout), which allowed for the flowing lines and cleaner profile than the 488, 296, and even the 812.
I knew eventually, you would do a review of this car....
Have a blessed weekend
Stunning and elegant looking car with performance to back it up. Definitely gets heads turning does this.
I have a theory about the large panel gap between door and dashboard. Having had my fingers shut in the driver's door of a T4 Caravelle I wonder if the space is there as a finger saver just in case someone shuts the door from the outside while someone in the driver's seat has their hand carelessly in the shut space. Just a thought.
Great point. I see this in a lot of new vehicles and I think it's probably a regulation for child safety.
Load exhausts, even musical ones are great for a press car, or a car for sunny Sundays short runs. But not so much if you can afford to run a car as a daily driver or for long distance. A guy I know took his Ferrari a few hundred miles to le mans with an after market exhaust. The first thing he did when he got back home was put the stock exhaust back on it.
This is basically Ferrari building their version of a Shelby GT 350 :) It's a perfectly usable daily driver and gobbles up highway miles with a minimum of drama and fuss. Just.. it's a Ferrari :) You don't need to prove anything - it'll get the job done. And, yes, it's obviously aimed at places with lots of open roads.
@20:32, you can buy 28 Dacia Sanderos for the price of a Ferrari Roma.
As someone that has driven both, but not owned any, the Roma is so much nicer than the California.
Looks a lot like a Jag F-type
Yup, identical to the facelift F-Type R
The sloping rear quarters have a touch of an E type about it. Enzo said it was the prettiest car he had ever seen. Perhaps that was an intentonal throwback? You have an enviable job, James!
Another great entertaining review. I suspect anyone who buys a Roma from new will give it back within 12-18 months....no buttons for air/temp etc and that 'invisable' touch screen when the sunshine hits it....its time to part company...which makes me think, maybe that's why those owners of brand new Ferrari's move them on so quickly....2020 Maserati Lavante V6 (Petrol)....I just love all those buttons!!!
This is one of the few modern Ferraris I like (with the FF/GTC4), but that color is a shame.
First of all, nod of respect to everyone else whose brain kept playing Vivaldi after the track skipped. Secondly, instant like for the way that shirt you wore to the launch looked against that pearl white Roma!
Glorious intro. Top tier.
IMO the Roma is GORGEOUS, If I owned one it'd be such an item of pride and joy, i think I even like it more than the F12.
incredible amount of information, so much talk about one car. Less is sometimes more. still good work.
Great review of a beautiful car. Thank you sir.
Thanks Mac!
Love it. The best looking modern Ferrari, and best looking modern car. As for those not considering it typically Ferrari, I wonder whether they know anything other than Ferrari is in F1, and builds cars to show off in.
I’ve seen a few of these around and it wasn’t until seeing it in person that I liked it. Its weirdly alluring. It’s subtle.. til you stare at it and realise it looks utterly brutal.
Great Review ! Of An “interesting” Car ! Respect ! 😊
This is a fantastic and very beautiful car! The only thing that annoys me, are these silly touch pads! A Ferrari must have a real start button! All the rest, just wonderfull!
Excellent review, as per usual, Jay. I've never owned an F-car (I own a 993, Cayman R, and Mas QP5 Sport GTS), though I follow the marque. I can say, at my age and lifestyle, this model appeals to me more than the other current F-models. I used to hanker for an FF or Lusso, but that PTU stuff turns me off even though I realize there are aftermarket fixes available. I'm happy with the analogue P-cars that I have, and still love the QP5 GTS after 5 years of ownership. All the tech is great until it fails after the warranty expires.
I actually test drove a Roma at Knockhill, Scorland today. My 2nd time driving one. There is much to like. Faster than you think, lots of grip, always seemed to be in the turbos so always has power on tap. I just sold an FF after 4 years and previous to that I owned a Maserati MC Stradale so the Roma, with it's obvious Maserati Alfieri concept connection, is shaping up to be a likely next car. I am concerned that they are dropping value and so I will likley wait until summer is over and see where they are. I'd rather be patient and try to stop the botton of the depreciation curve, than to lose a load quickly. The 7 year service pack and 2 year warranty offered by Ferrari also makes it worth buying from a main dealer. I don't like the haptic controls but once I had set it where I liked it, they became less imprortant. I had a good look at the white car which is currently the "cheapest in the UK" at £155k and I see why they want to shift it as the white isn't great. It makes the front grill look a bit like a cheap laundry basket where the darker colours help to hide that. I was told that they have stopped coupe production while the push the Roma Spyder and that the Portofino M has also stopped to allow the Spyder on the same production line. My main concern is that many don't "get" the Roma and so it is in danger of dropping value. This is great of you want one in 3 or 4 years from now as they may well be the bargain of the range but it makes it tough to predict when is the optimum time to buy. Add in higher interest rates and economic uncertainty and that fuels my concern. Ultimately I think I will buy one, it's when, not if.
Make sure you get the right options with it. I’ve heard that ferrari have a special option for fluffy dice which can be ordered by special arrangement. It has little cavallino horses on it instead of the dots.
I would humbly suggest a 3 year old one(out of ferrari warranty, but if bought from a ferrari dealer it will roll on) and still 4 years of free servicing ,will be the sweet spot for a ' current' ferrari at the best price.
My pick from the current range .. I love it !
Save yourself hundreds of thousands & buy a facelift F-Type R. Better exhaust sound too
@@A_Scanner_LightlyDon’t be so silly different gravy. From that age old platform and cheap interior.
V8 FNE is a number plate ive seen many times on the Ferrari Roma. Harry's Garage Roma review(3 years ago) which was a different car also had the same plate.
Glad to be back with Giacomo Martini
Beautiful, beautiful car!
BTW, listing and complaining about the price of extra payments for such a car is completely pointless and least of all worries those who can afford it.
Great video. I’d buy the car for the key alone!
I loved driving this car (and loving my new career as a hand-model)! Truly brilliant car in all the ways you say... Electrical faults aside. And it was in my fave spec 😁
You just need to find your hand model twin now😂
I think the reason i love this despite hating Ferrari’s policy is the Conspiracy Theory on Shmee about this car
I enjoyed the music at the start, a good way to introduce the Roma
Thanks Kevin! Glad you did
Ferrari: My boss said we can’t use our iconic taillights anymore - can I dig around in your old parts bins?
Chevrolet: Sure.
My favorite new Ferrari as it isnt so shouty. An elegant GT.
Another great video
My favourite Ferrari by miles and I’d have a dark metallic blue one in a heartbeat. Real life means I have to live with an F type R (no a bad substitute). Don’t get me started on your assertion that they both need a rear flourish, as the lack of spoilers are exactly why they are beautiful. At least you don’t give Ferrari a free ride on reliability. We should embrace these wonderful cars while we still can.
Brilliant!!!
I am not a Ferrari fanboy but the Roma is my favourite Ferrari for many, many years. Perhaps thats because it has the proportions and looks of an Aston Martin.
I am in absolute love❤❤
I personally think this is one of my favorite of modern ferraris
Great video! Love the Italian shots. I'll have to look at the old review. I must say I think this car looks so much better in silver much classier and it shows the lines really nicely. Not that I could have fold one, just the key fobs probably out of my range. Totally understand what you're saying about that. Touch pads are awful, hopefully old manufacturers of learnt now to go back to some classy switch gear instead. Can't be flacking around trying to touch pad touch screen especially in the winter when you might have wet hands. Bike should have called it the Roma GT. But another thing I agree with you, the sound is very disappointing to have a V8 that doesn't sing is very strange
The classical music was a bit irritating but fitted the stationary Roma perfectly, which made the switch great 🤙🏼
Do these special edition car specific intros scratch the film making itch?
Roma next to the Scud shot .. belissimo
Very much enjoyed the futurama reference!
Farrari Roma is beautiful like it in metallic red and the grill looks so cool 😻
Good review James. As for the fuel tank, needs a 550 style 114l tank for a decent touring range :)
I know this isn’t breaking news to you but god damn that Scud looks incredible.
It seems great for a guy who wants a Ferrari (or a sports car/GT mix) but doesn't want or cannot justify buying one of the crazy mid engined supercars
Great review, loved the transition from promo vid to review at the beginning. Living in an area where you see quite a few Ferraris, I just wonder why I haven t seen a single Roma on the road- ever. To me this is a Jagarrari or Aston Marcello with the former having an actually substantially nicer interior than this one being more than twice the price. I don t get the Roma at all even though it s supposedly a car that I should like given what it s meant to be. Am unaware of its sales figures but I bet them to be disappointing. To me, it s mostly the car that makes me appreciate the Portofino M a lot more than I did previously...and in general, I m the guy going coupe over convertible all day any day (with targas/GTS models being a compelling option).
loved the intro on the "most controversial ferrari of the decade... wait"
