I re-watched Crossroads last night. It's hard to see Britney then compared to now. She's so beautiful, talented, sweet, hardworking and full of life. She was so mistreated. I think what some people say about the music industry, how they try to replace people who are most popular or cycle them out may be true to an extent, so they may have jumped on that to promote others over Janet. I feel like this is more an issue for women more than men because they are more pressured to look a certain way and to be young.

I dated a golden boy. He cheated on me so I went to his house and broke up with him in person (in a very nice way and talk, just saying I wish you well but I can’t take the dishonesty.). A week or so later I started spending time with someone else and he saw us together, he tried to fight the guy and vandalized his car and people were about to call the cops. He told everyone I was cheating on him to justify his bad behavior. I had never really told anyone we were broken up as I didn’t talk about my business to anyone but my close friends and I hadn’t even had a chance to tell anyone but my close friends. He was so convincing even the guy I was spending time with thought that I had lied about our break up and quit talking to me. And blamed me for his car. The golden boy’s friends didn’t know about our break up either and all believed I had cheated as well as other people in our circle. I didn’t know how to stand up for myself or have a back bone and he made ME feel guilty for hurting HIM! (Despite my reason for breaking up with him was him cheating on me TWICE) and I just let him drag me so badly that a lot of people lost respect for me. I basically went into hiding. At the time I thought I deserved it because I had caused him pain by breaking up with him and starting to date someone else (make it make sense lol)Now that I’m older I see the gaslighting. And I totally see how Britney felt and why on the Diane Sawyer interview she thought it was all her fault.

Based on Britney's side, Justin cheated on her most of their relationship and I feel like when he knew she cheated on him once, he was able to use that as an excuse to break up with her and milk the breakup for publicity.. If Britney weren't well-known, he wouldn't have wrote "Cry Me A River" and "What goes around." He didn't care about her. He wrote those songs knowing people would pay serious attention because he was throwing shade at Britney and he would sell the music because people were curious if the songs were about her. He's only been in PR relationships. Britney Spears, Scarlett Johansson, Cameron Diaz, and now he's married to Jessica Biel...He uses these celebrity women. They were all to advance his career. He loves looking like the victim when Britney was really the victim- it feeds his big ego. I'm heartbroken he treated her like this after she was already grieving from the abortion he pushed her to have.

I remember back in the day on much music, there was a story about how when britney did get pregnant publicly for the first time with her first son, justin asked to touch her stomach and she said no. and the story portrayed her like some crazy unreasonable person for not letting him touch her stomach when he was such a nice guy and so much better than who she was with (who was also awful but not the point). and looking back like, aside from the fact that it's her body and if she doesn't want anyone touching her for any reason, that's fine. but knowing the history of him forcing her to get an abortion and then asking to touch her pregnant stomach, that must have felt like a punch in the gut.

@@userssssssssssslthe issue isn’t that he didn’t want kids, it’s that instead of supporting her through a decision she was making entirely for him (she wanted the baby) he dragged her through mud, cheating on her, dumping her by text and building a career on the grave of hers. People are stuck on the abortion cus it’s the context that was missing that explains some of her music and personal decisions. It also accentuates how little he cared about her.

She was a rom com star for about a decade then started scaling back as her interests diversified. Her acting career wasn’t exactly high brow (I say that as a big fan of her work). I’m sure she’s been in situations where people tried to take advantage but it’s a leap to suggest she is an active participant in anything foul.
