The ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 is the larger of the newly refreshed gaming laptops from the brand -- sporting a new design that seems to appeal to more than hardcore gamers. While ASUS might be slashing on the gamer aesthetics with a sleeker build, the Zephyrus G16 is still a fantastic gaming notebook capable of way more than just playing popular titles. I was a big fan of the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 already, but a bigger 16-inch version might be the definition of the motto: "When bigger means better" -- so let's see if it actually convinces me to go bigger with my portable gaming and work. Here is the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16!

Links to the Newegg April Fools Sale are below! One thing I needed to correct: my Zephyrus G16 actually has the Intel Core Ultra 9 processor, which gives it a bit better CPU performance compared to the Core Ultra 7 that I mistakenly said in my script/video. There is a version with the Core Ultra 7, though!

I saw you're using the wandrd prvke bag, would you mind me asking the size of thr bag you have as I have a 21L and looking into maybe getting this. Thank you!
The display on the G16 is GORGEOUS! 🔥
That Melin hat is fire! I have the 2021 edition one. It's black instead of navy. Love the videos bet man 🤙🏻
Love the new design language of the Zephyrus while keeping the ROG 'slash' identity. So excited to get my hands on the G14 in the coming weeks.
Love the string art at 0:28! I've made a few myself and they're super fun :D
Everyone is getting this thing. I got my g14 couple days ago and its a beast. This thing might give macbooks a run for their money especially with creators.
What can you say about battery life? I'm having some trouble whether to go with a macbook m2 or a G14. Seeking portability and functionality
@@guilhermelauer It's not as good as a Macbook but you can expect 8-10 hours of light use.
@@Unicornpirate Do you know if it is light to carry around on a backpack?
@@UnicornpirateNot as good a MacBook? How do you know and that is a very subjective claim to make.
@@avenuePad Because I have a G14 and my wife has a MacBook Pro 14 and her laptop lasts a lot longer than mine
This is so minimalistic.
thanks but no mention of the fan noise especially loud on your 4070 version
If you get the vapor chamber in the 4080 version, that's the one to get.
Thanks for this honest review. I have one quedtion though, how's the Fan noise? Is ist as loud as some people claim? Is ist quiet at idle (Silent profile)?
THANKS in advance
Just got this model yesterday. So far, I’m loving it! I put 1 additional SSD in it so I have 3TB’s of storage. Best Buy also had it on sale for $1,699.99! Great price. 😅
Thank you Josh. Always good reviews.
I don't know what to choose between this one and the G14 for editing ?
good video man, thanks
Can you program the slash lighting strip on the rear to indicate battery percentage?
What a perfect laptop ❤
That's a DOPE Melin hat!!!
Not a gamer , but hoping to run some engineering/architecture programs. Trying to decide between G16 RTX4070 Ultra7 vs G16 RTX4080 Ultra 9 ?? . Aware of the fan differences and wondering if it is such of a big deal to take into consideration when deciding which one to go for
Is the WiFi card different on this G16 than it is on the G14?
Found a 4070 version with 32GB for €400 off this morning. Getting it to upgrade my OG 2020 G14 model!
enjoyt it!
Sell me your g14 bro
LOVE the infinite wealth gameplay
I sold my 3080ti Alienware and went with the g14 4070. The portability just tipped it for me so I went with the 14 . It just looks so damn nice ... Plus that OLED display . The Alienware 3080ti laptop was plenty powerful plus the vram etc ... But the OLED display on these are next level .
I wish the G16 would have higher resolution displays. I had one before but was only an FHD+. I feel the G14 is the best-buy, having a very good amount of power with the better dislplay and portability. At least I'm going off of what's sold at best buy.
What are your thoughts on the fan noise? As other reviews point out its particularly noisy even at idle and with the 3 fan set up of the 4070 the middle fan stays constantly. Or have they corrected this with a BIOS update?
is true
Tell me what about the difference in the displays, as far as I understand, on the G14 the display is 3k and on G16 its only 2.5k - is this very noticeable, is the quality really better on the small version?
the pixel density with 3K 14" and 2.5K 16" starts to become trivial. Higher pixel density than 4K resolution 28". It will look amazing either you go G14 or 16
When I purchased mine I updated the BIOS. It is a critical update identified by ASUS
Any idea what that fixed? what do you think of the fan noise is it as bad as its been made out to be?
@@robmck6573 fan noise is pretty minimal imo. Fans were silent about half the time on Windows and Linux
@@robmck6573 Ultimately it depends on your sensitivity. I don't mind a very minor hum especially since I normally have music playing so any minor fan noise would be drowned out easily
@@robmck6573 if you've gone from budget laptop to budget laptop the fan noise will be nothing new
how was temperature while gaming in clamshell mode?
+1 on this question
what is up with the random background noises in this video?
Light uniformity? Light bleeding from corners of screen?
Damn, that hinge is so loose.
What about the fan noise? How come you don't mention anything about it?
because he's not gay
Does it support ram up to 96bg?
And can you tell me how to turn on it with vertical dock ?
You have to go into your power settings and disable sleep when closing the lid.
2 thunderbolt ports and i would have said it was the best 2024 laptop
MENTION THE FAN NOISE. MADE ME RETURN IT
is really bad?
Is it that bad?
@@Phoenix56801 Yes, I had seen it in another toutbe video and is loud af
prob strix is better
which model though? 4080/90 versions have 1 less fan
😅 Joshua Vergara and Maurice Moves seem like one person or they are like siblings.😁
what about the burning in issue with OLEDs ?
there's always a risk for burn in - just don't leave static elements on the screen for hours at a time and you will be fine. For laptops your usually moving around a lot and will often close the lid to move on the go
@@banned-user let's say I'm working with a single software the whole day. Or just 5 hours daily. If I close the lid for 2 min every hour. Would it help risking getting the software UI burnt in?
@@banned-user so even if I'd work for the whole day at weekends ( let's just extend the max hours to max possible) even if I keep this every hour close the lid for 2/5 min and then. Continue. Would it prevent from burning it?
G14 full review when?
Link to my video on it is in the description!
heeey make review about Dream Machines gaming laptop!
5:31 what game is that ?
I think it’s Sea of Stars
the heat is going to reduce the lifespan of this machine
Your stupidity is going to reduce your lifespan
My only problem with g16 2024 is the hinge. Screen wobbles too much for my liking. The temperature is ok under load. It does get scorching hot above the keyboard where the heatpipes on both fans are. My biggest complain is there’s no rubber strip around the display like MacBooks. Every time I close the lid, it feels and sound like two metal smashing. I’m so conscious about it that I have to slowly close it.
Honestly, it’s not worth the money with 16GB ram. OLED is all the rage atm, but that doesn’t justify the price considering there’s Lenovo Legion 7i 2024 with better thermal design and 32GB ram for the same price.
Don’t get me started on the fans. If you’re not a big fan of noise. You’re not gonna like this. Even at quiet mode, the fans are still running.
It's a really great laptop, but that screen wobble is terrible.
It really isn't. I have the G16 and don't notice it one bit.
It's all good unless you like smashing the keyboard.
It is good for earthquake warning when you cannot feel the quake.
Yes, catch-22. The larger display and chassis are positives, but the size over 14 inches makes it less portable. I have this issue, and my solution was to have an ultra-portable MB Air and a desktop replacement MB Pro 16 for home. It's the best of both worlds and means they last longer as each takes half the load compared to just one device. I do not game, so I'm coming from a pro-user perspective.
My take on Windows laptops this year is: please don't bother. Whereas the M3 in Macs is a major upgrade, the Intel 14th gen/Core Ultra is a sideways upgrade, as is the AMD gen 2024. If you want a Windows ultrabook, wait for the Snapdragon X Elite. Everything should be better next year, so I will wait for them. Also, Windows laptops seem comparable to Macs now in price, so they have lost their value take. Macs remain the best choice for ultrabooks, but obviously not for gamers.
How was fan noise while doing light tasks?
I own the G16 RTX4080 with the vapor chamber instead of a 3rd fan and on 'Silent' profile it is very quiet doing light work with a second screen attached.
@@pitzkale and if you play games in eco mode or silent mode is it quiet too please ?
@@Teiko21x Playing any demanding game is not going to be quiet no matter the mode you set it to. That's just physics :)
You will be hurting your framerate for sure though.
@@pitzkale Razer blade 16 running on silent mode which pushes 105watt GPU is almost silent so I guess the extra width matters
@@GerryReid Not when you push demanding games (Cyberpunk, Helldivers 2, Hellblade II, Alan Wake 2 etc.).
That won't work even for larger machines like the STRIX. Physically impossible.
Even my desktop gaming PC is a little noisy running demanding games with much larger and quieter fans.
Like I said, for everyday work and media consumption the G16 is virtually silent.
How do i put my cd game in there?
Look up for CD USB. And you will get your full CD lector that has a usb cable that goes to your laptop
Really can't understand why so many tech reviewers care so much about one handed opening...
I've got a macbook 14 2021 and can't stand the result of that one handed opening. It makes my screen wobble when moving it about.
My 2015 xps 15 still has a sturdy screen with zero wobble but can't open with one finger
If the next year model gets rid of the light bar on the lid altogether and tighten up the hinges so there is minimal wobble, this will be the best Windows laptop you can buy. And if they throw in AMD's Strix Point/Strix Point Halo in the G14, that's endgame for me.
@3:14 I don't know anyone who uses a SD card for their game storage on a laptop. For transferring files/videos/photos/music/etc. sure but not all out game storage. That's what the SSD is for.
The slash lighting is irritating
Is this pc good for 3d artists ?
yes but the strix line up has better cooling than the zephyrus line up, and full GPU power in strix. Also this one as far as i KNOW, is locked up to 32gb ram. While strix is up to 96gb ram with i9 14th gen abd 4070s
That ad for Newegg...
😂😂
Newegg ads are gettin outta control😂😂😂😂
With a laptop this powerful, saying that fan noise is annoying is a nonsens. You want something quiet : go for a tablet, guys.
Suck that they cap it at 32gb ram.
That is my biggest turn off for this model

Ultra 9... soldered ram... I'm out. BRING BACK THE X16

I bought it. Used it for four days then returned it. Poor ergonomics, noisy, erratic performance, loaded with system killing bloatware like armor crate. In short, technical rubbish.
Windows laptops be thin and light but have humongous power bricks no thanks
then why were you looking for it? I don;t like the bricks either but is what it comes with it. I actually do not like laptops beside win or apple. But need to get one. So, yeah awful brricks lmao but is the trade off xD

Wow...amazing ad. As for a review sucked pretty bad in alot of ways. This whole rog generation is about pay more to have less. Lets wait for next year shall we? Asus can do better for his customers.
What do you mean by less?
@@Tetelestai-cw8qy if you remove the oled screen, everything else is either the same or worse, namely performance which is key in a gaming laptop. So no meaninfull upgrade from last 2 years. You are buying a screen and for me thats a ripoff.
