In this episode, we installed the vaulted ceiling walls on top of the shipping containers and we started laying down the sub floor for the center section. The house is really starting to come together! Don't forget to like and SUBSCRIBE so you don't miss a video!:)

The way you guys braced the windows is perfect. You will not regret it.
Everyone says how Mackenzie is funny (which is true) but Spenser never gets credit for being the straight man.
It's harder than it seems. Props.

This is coming together great! However it is going to be interesting to see how you deal the water from channeling off the roof and under your boards that you bolted to the metal roof. You must have a clever solution! Can't wait to see it! Love your vids. They are never boring! You guys are smart, doing this while you are young with no kids!😊

Here's an old southern tip for working outdoors during the day when it's really hot.
Wet a towel and drape it over your head(down on your shoulders.) You can put a big hat over it as well.
To keep really cool you can keep some ice water in a cooler and dip the towels after a while to recool......
Regular well or tap water will work...Ice water is better....
    Good luck guys.......Great videos.

I have watched everyone of your videos. You guys are very entertaining!!! I'm enjoying seeing the progress. And I envy what you got going on!!!
I have never built a container house, but I have built and remodeled dozens of regular frame houses. So when I watch you guys, I have lots of thoughts wondering why you do some of the things you do. I know its your house and you are doing it your way. One question I had is why not make this a two story house? It wouldn't take much more lumber to add walls and a roof than what you used to make the vaulted ceiling... Maybe i'm going way to far overboard on my suggestions. Keep on doing the nice job you are doing and we will all enjoy watching!!!

Thank you, Danny! Great question! We thought about a small loft space or a deck on top but ultimately we just wanted to keep it simple. Also, in order to run the whole house off of our solar we needed to keep the home small and efficient.

  • @kojakdurham

Something to consider might be some supplemental, off-grid diy air conditioning. To do it, you basically get large conduit or PVC pipe, attach it to a floor register at one end of the container, connect it to an inline fan in the crawlspace, run the pipe into the ground buried at deep enough to be where the ground stays a constant low temperature. The depth depends on where you live, as well as the surface conditions, but if you buried it under the containers or under your solar panels where it's shaded, you wouldn't have to go as deep as if you did it where the sun bakes the ground, thus heating the shallower soil.
