Wham appeared on Saturday Superstore to promote the new single Club Tropicana. The official video was played just before this interview, but has had to be removed due to copyright.
Nice to see Andrew, probably we would not have had George Michael, without Andrew, happy to see it worked out well for both of them. So, sorry we lost George Michael. Andrew, I thank you, for putting your arm up, when the teacher ask. His friendship you will just carry in your ❤️ heart Always.
Yes, thank you for this video. It was I who won the giant banana and Superted goodies. I wasn’t watching at the time so only heard about second hand! Of course I also got all the prizes though 😊
Thank you SO much for this video. Never seen before this appearance, didn't even know they were invited just before the start of their first tour. So, logically, this was on Saturday 8 October 1983.
I liked AR too, but later I questioned why because George was so much nicer. Looking at this video though, AR really was better looking during this period. Whilst GM wasn't. I'm glad I wasn't blind as I thought I was.
George wanted to meet Diana Ross at 07:40. He did better than that in 1985, by singing live with Diana as well as Aretha and Stevie at the Apollo theatre.
I didn’t think he was bombastic at all. I know bombastic side eye is a term but bombastic is not a compliment. I’m afraid because of the way Boy George was, he didn’t make many friends. He always had beef with someone and spent his time wrongly trying to out gay stars because he himself was comfortable with being gay. He’s never admitted to being wrong in his behaviour and still thinks it was right to pull people out of the closet, despite any issues that would cause them at the time or their wish to stay closeted. In the 80’s being gay still wasn’t necessarily accepted especially with the A.I.D.S crisis. I don’t know your age but if you remember these times you’ll understand, plus having a Greek father and a mother with gay family that killed themselves he had no wish to come out. Boy George didn’t care about that. Fans were split into ‘camps’ so those who were into Boy George were against Wham! He spread the crap and they sucked it up. His wars of words with people went way back to the Blitz club and still to some extent go on today. He’s blunt. Too blunt. Back then there was absolutely no filter in the man at all.
@@NailHeavenAshford bombastic side eye means to express contempt or disapproval which is exactly why I used the term because I'm well aware of boy George's continued attempts to try and out george micheal in the past.
I notice Mike didn't answer the question "What does Dolce Viche" mean ! ( Probably because he didn't know ). but it actually translates as "This Sweet Life".
@@sshergs2166 Yes this is the show, but it is not in full, plus the video clips were cut and what is important here is the fact that they showed an alternative video for Wake me up before you go go with different footage and angles. Would be fantastic if you have it.
I mean even in the 80s it was considered racist I highly doubt George Michael of all people is going to say the N word on a children's saturday show hahahahaha
@@Evolutionator944the BBC banned Relax by Frankie Goes to Hollywood for sexual references, I highly doubt they would let someone use racial language on a kids show at 09:00am
It would have been George Michael even without Andy! Andy didn't sing, Andy didn't write the music! he just wants to come to the fore and George can't answer him!

I love when Mike Read says, "George, if you'd like to slide your hand into the Tracey Ullman basket," and they both crack up...
Yes, Andrew really enjoyed it, probably whammed the fuck out of her back in the day
I can't believe they read out children's full names and addresses on national TV 😅
This is when Jimmy Saville was doing his thing
Life was normal back then generally speaking
I love how George was telling Andrew "Come on retaliate!"
I love wham and lm obsessed with George& Andrew thanks for this new video❤💞🌌👍
FANTASTIC is my absolute favorite Wham! album. So raw, funky and upbeat. Nothing after had that same energy.
Yes. And my first album and the best. Still remember where I bought it, in Kingsbridge, Devon with Looking at Midnight - Imagination single.

Do you still have the banana?
How awesome
Brilliant!! I hope you still have the banana
@@teralmiles Sadly not. It only lasted a few months I think, before it began to fall apart. Off to the tip it went, I think!!

7:18 Andrew would like to meet Brooke Shields. Ironically George 'dated' Brooke a few years later.
It was probably his idea, you never know
Ironically George later went out with Brooke Shields. Bet Andrew was jealous! Lol
So funny how they laughed at the Tracy Ullman basket. Yet as a kid, this would’ve gone over all of our heads.
I was 1000% in love with Andrew during this era!!! I was 13 at the time.....and Nicholas Cage 💕

He is so cute Andrew here 10:19💞😂😘
THANK YOU MY LOVE ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
They actually gave their full addresses. More innocent times.
Yes
Yay found their first appearance on Saturday Superstore I have seen the other one but yeah never found this one
I can't believe Andrew said to that little girl "We'll put you to the test later !" A-HEM !!
How old are you? It was far more innocent then, apart from Saville
No concern in those days when they unnecessarily read out full names and full addresses of all the winners.
Thank you SO much for amazing video
Молодые Джордж и Эндрю из группы Whem "красивые и энергичные парни !Особенно Джордж гениальный музыкант и певец с волшебным голосом !Супер !!
Yes and when this was on tv, ussr stopped you watching in 1983 😂
Update
If you write in Russian, how do you know what they're saying 😂
Eh ?
George was so mature and serious for his age

😍😍😍😍😍😍
They looked amazing indeed
Lucky little girls wow
Those girls are probably aged at least 50 now.
Possibly. I was 15 at this point. I’m 55 now, so they may have reached early 50s.
The girl doing handstands and backbends is somewhere between fifties and sixties
George's bombastic side eye at the end when boy George was mentioned lol
