The Wham documentary has re-energized my fascination (and likely many others') with George and I just discovered this interview. He is SO unabashedly himself and self aware. Absolutely the same for me ... the documentary led me on the same trajectory. He's so articulate , so intelligent and honest, and how he speaks of the American psyche is spot on. And unfortunately what he said 19 years ago still holds true today. I'm not American and what he said is exactly how I feel about the States.... They're not progressing , they're turning back the clock now. I was sobbing watching his videos ......I definitely miss him for sure.

I adore George. From the moment I saw his first performance with Wham! I was hooked. I have followed this mega talented artist for his entire career. I have all of his albums and all of the singles that he released. I feel so fortunate that I saw him in concert a few times before he passed. His beautiful angelic voice was something to really experience. His personality and charisma on stage was like no others. Every interview I've seen, he's carried himself with honesty, awareness and has always been respectful and humble. I don't think we'll ever see such a talented musician again, at least not in my lifetime. Someone who could write an entire songs and keep them locked in his memory until he walked into a studio to revord is something I haven't heard of before. He could compose arrange and produce all of his own music 👏 !!! The cherry on top was that he was spectacularly good-looking. It was a treat to just look at him.❤

Unfortunately I believe that George was never truly happy with himself. He did know how good his music was and he knew how an amazing singer he was. He also loves his fans and was a very generous human being with all his charities. The problem he had was with the gay community. Because he had a ten plus year open relationship with his husband and had the nerve to say I can have an open relationship with my partner and I'm happy that passed people off. Unfortunately I believe that his Insecurities and years of fame and the pressure from the press led him to do drugs during the last 12 years of his life. I however unlike some of the other nasty queens out there do not believe his open relationship caused his drug use. Sorry and the people who judge that harshly should look at themselves and shut the fuck up. Can't stand the hypocrisy

This interview is 18 yrs old. The US is still handling the same issues pretty much the same way. I absolutely adore this man. His life is very similar to mine. His songs speak to me like no other artist. His fans could care less what his sexuality was. That was just the press hounding him to be the first to make the big story. They didn't care about him, period. He is loved as much today as he was from the days of WHAM! Probably even more (if possible) as we learn more and more about him since his passing. I miss him so very much. I listen to his music every day. His music makes me feel a sense of peace, and love, want to dance slow and fast, LOL to Outside, and COL to Mother's Pride, Pray for Time, and his rendition of The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face, to name a few. I seriously cannot find a song I don't love. George needed peace. His soul hurt here on earth. I know this feeling. Always Loved, Forever Missed, Never Forgotten Continue to Rest In Peace GM 💖

"COULD care less"... Arrgh! If this interview is 18 years old, you must be half that in age. Students in the U.S. are SO illiterate. Pay for your college degree if mummy and daddy are rich and powerful enough to do it for you and pay all accompanying fees, you pass college and move onto success, deserved or not. People in the U.S. don't know basic English. That's why we have complete idiots running this country, just wealthy offspring off wealth. You pay, you play. No wealth from the family, you're screwed, regardless of how brilliant you may be. The U.S. is sick. So many talented people like George Michael can not live in their own heads. Its almost like genius equals depression.I saw it in my mother. My mother was the most knowledgeable, well read person I have ever known. She had books at every station in our home. She read 8-10 books a week.Reading was all she wanted to do.If she wasn't reading she talked about books.
Her mother,my grandmother was the same.
Insomnia, depression all a part of their lives.

When George was talking about bereavement, I can totally relate. My Dad died as a result of a head-on collision in November 2021. I was named the executor of his estate. I have been very busy taking care of all of his financial affairs. So busy that I have had virtually no time to even grieve for him. It is starting to catch up with me, too. I could be at work and, out of the blue, I will just want to sob. Although it may not be pleasant, it is important to allow yourself to FEEL the pain. It is the only way you will be able to heal and move on with your life. Rest in peace, George.

    INTERVIEW !
John Norris is a GREAT INTERVIEWER here.

Norris is so respectful and non judgemental of George here and asks smart and deep questions and does NOT interrupt him sharing the beauty and wisdom of who he is/was as a human being. So MANY other interviewers are so judgemental/ "gotcha"
...that you can hear in George's voice inflection how annoyed or bored he is with their lack of professionalism & lack of humanity. Maybe that is the reason I am no able to fully grasp the whole idea of being attracted to someone who is the same sex as me. Nevertheless I have a lot of respect and admiration for the fact that they found courage to stand up for themselves, to be open about it explaining to people who does not understand. It must be have been very difficult to face all of this especially being a public person. My God this man was really a smart man. The Brits are for the most part very centered and see the world in a progressive way. Cheers from an American in New York City.

@@angelbaby3872His father is Greek Cypriot, so Yog is therefore mixed race, he's got half Greek blood. But feels himself very British! He's born in England, raised by an English mother, schooled in English schools, his mentality is 100% English. He said himself more than once, he is British and loves his country. Surely Yog loves Greece and Cyprus but hasn't spend an awful lot of time there. He doesn't even know how to speak Greek. 😊

As one gets older and is reminded of these huge losses of influential artists, (George M., Prince, Bowie), it feels like a deeper loss and sadness.
