Gonna be honest, it's nice to see you make mistakes. It's so easy on yt and social media to see people do drills 'perfectly' over and over and feel like you're the only one that's messing things up. So to see you, as a pro mess it up once in a while is kind of a motivation and reminder that not all reps will be perfect but the aim is to strive to be as close to perfection as possible. ❤❤

I LOVE individual sessions. I might be alone on this but I love the fact I can focus on my weaknesses that much more. Then when I come back and play with people, I surprise myself because I improved. 😂 However, the key is to plan in advance so you’re not just going through the motions.

The fake shot drill is so crucial. People fall for the fake shot so much. If you can add that to your muscle memory Matt, you’ll be unstoppable. You’ll get in every defender’s head

    Great content!
In the wall opening up hips passing drill It is interesting watching your plant foot. When you open up with your right (trap with right) your (left) plant foot is facing where the ball came from. While when you open up with your left (trap with your left) your (right) plant foot is facing where you are about to pass. Does this indicate that your left hip is less able to open up? Is the left hip less flexible? It seems like the first way may be more deceptive to defenders, but harder to make a good pass. Maybe none of this matters?
I work on diamond and square pass a lot with younger players and I I’m trying to figure out how to help them with body shape.
Thanks again for all of the great content!

I would argue that your answer was about the difference between athleticism and hypertrophy but not soccer specific movements, or rather, lateral and explosive movement sports. I don’t think many athletes do full workouts specific only to their sport, but the truly unique aspect of soccer is the impact on the quads and knees from kicking as well as the odd motion of turning the foot out to strike the ball, which leads to more impact on the groin. My favorite exercises for both of those muscle groups are the lift and twist types of exercises. The exercise Matt showed with the single arm clean and jerk is better for explosive motion, but the twist helps protect those muscles from injury by forcing the muscle to work at the extent of the range of motion.

Q/A: Do u think the college route is good to go pro and what route did u take from college football. I’m 20 years old from Ireland and it’s something I wish I may have looked into as soon as I left school. I see that it’s a good professional setting over there but setbacks such as an acl year stopped me the last year. How was your experience and would u recommend atleast trying at 20 as I feel I don’t want to miss out while I’m young.
