- Some clips from our ride at the dunes. This is my second time to the dunes on a dirt bike and can't wait to go back. Everyone made it home ok and only one bike broke. It was a good trip.

That place is gorgeous
Nice! Looks fun.
what kind of pipe do you have on it?
Are you running a paddle?
what camera are you using?
Do you have to stay on it a lot with a 250f in the dunes? i haven't too
ken mine too the dunes yet but I'm excited.
Not with mine. I think take off is a little underpowered but as soon as I am going it's good. I am heading to the dunes for the 4th of july. Keep your eyes open for another video!
Cool thanks man
I think that guy on the YFZ450 at the end might need a new sprocket hub lol never seen one that bad
Yeah he did. and also has to replace the axle. lol
Ronny Wilson really did it strip the splines on the axle also? the last time I was at winchester I had the same problem but havent taken it all apart yet to see where it was slipping. I know my chain was tight but halfway up widowmaker I could hear the chain or something skipping. after that it just got worse and worse the point I couldnt even wheelie on flat ground without it skipping.
+TrailBlogger yep sure did that was a stock axles so he just went and bought one off of ebay. I had never seen that happen either so hopefully you're not having the same issue
+Ronny Wilson i had actually just replace my sprocket hub with another used one I thought was in good enough shape right before the trip so I wouldnt have problems. at first I though my chain had come loose but it felt good and tight when I got back to the truck so I dunno WTF it was now. need to tear her apart for a rebuild anyhow so I will be checking those splines first thing.
Oh I see. Yeah I would definitely get in there and see if that's the case. We weren't to far out but it sucked towing it back..
Hey man I know this video is super old but do you think the 250f is powerful enough for the oregon dunes? I plan to buy the offroad version of the YZ250F (called the YZ250FX) but I've heard some people say you need a 450 for the dunes. What do you think?
Jack all depends on what you want to do.. If your going to be riding mostly dunes and want to hit big jumps. A 450 is the way to go.. I did mostly trail riding and went to the dunes a few times a year.. I enjoyed my 250f out there but I wanted more power for big jumps.
Ronny Wilson Alright, thanks. I'll probably be doing more trail riding.
My bad , my comments were bugging but what kind of pipe do you have on this bike ?
It has an FMF power bomb head pipe. Stock silencer with a Lexx tip for spark arrestor! Nothing special.
Does your bike feel like it has enough for the dunes or do you feel like you need more?
The 250f is a bit under powered out there but still a lot of fun! I now have a 250 2 stroke and it rips in the sand dunes but a 450 is the way to go out there for sure.
Hey what gear do you go up banshee hill and how much did you weigh when you made this video?
Well I went up in 3rd gear no problem. I was on an old paddle tire.. I weighed somewhere around 175lbs
Thanks for replying and what gear do you think is best for someone that weighs 220 to go up banshee hill on a yz250f with a big bore kit.
***** 450 is the way to go when riding the sand for sure! But if all you have is a 250 you can still have fun too!
I'm just now seeing my other comments . My bad 😂
how do u like the yz250f
well after my most recent trip to the dunes and riding with someone with a 450. The 250 is great for trails but in the sand a 450 is the way to go.
What paddle tire do you use?
This was an old tire that was given to me in this video. I now have a "Sedona Dunatik" 110/90/19 8 paddle. Looks pretty much identical to the one in the video but throws a hell of alot more roost now :-)
+Ronny Wilson thanks! Rode sand for the first time on my 250f and the back tire just wasn't grabbing.
+Dpizzle504 Definitely want a paddle tire. they say to run a 6-8 paddle tire on 250f's but not to run a 10 because to much traction in the sand can bogg your bike. I find an 8 works great for me.
where the fuck does the sand come from!?
That is a questing I have asked alot. People say the ocean pushed it in. But what about the dunes in the middle of Oklahoma and Utah? I don't really know man!
