So after 3 years of riding nothing but 2 stroke dirt bikes, I finally bought my first 4 stroke dirt bike. I tested one out briefly last fall and really liked it. ever since then I'v been looking for a good deal on one of my own. Good looking bike. I just picked up a 2014 yz250f and you’re right about the torque
The hot start lever I literally only use to get the bike to tdc then kick without it
The back tire feels floaty because of engine breaking, I own the same bike and it just does that. The first time I rode it on pavement I checked my axle nut because it was so weird. Also I can tell you're riding it like a two stroke, that's why the front end comes up. The throttle control for it is a learning curve for sure. Smooth but fast with no jerkiness. Nice vid

@@verseclips9253 I did, I’m just a 2stroke guy at heart. Honestly I just wanted to try out a 4stroke and also a new bike for more content. But I’d rather have the new toy instead of 3 dirt bikes

Congrats on the bike! I’m thinking of buying an 07, similar experience with always owning 2 strokes. I will say you should try to bump up your cardio a bit, mountain biking has worked wonders for me. Being out of breath and getting arm pump sucks, you can absolutely get past that and if you do it’s a whole new world.

I've noticed that for some reason the early yz250fs start to sound like moto gp bikes when your in the top end
If its hard to kick start while hot your valves need shimned

I got a 01 runs like a monster but do you think it still has the same amount of power as the newer ones

I just bought one my self same year I gave her a shot of gas on pavement the back tire breaks free pretty easy

@@brapperdan mainly farm riding and ditch riding but I would like to start hitting the track if not every weekend every other.
@@stonecarpenter25 probably a good idea to move up to something bigger you’ll have a lot of fun on a 250. Or get a 250 2stroke. They are so badass . Yz250 or yz250f are both great options
@@brapperdan only thing I'm worried about is price of parts and rebuilds on 4 strokes but kinda looking for the reliably that I'm just got getting on my yz125 always having issues with it
@@stonecarpenter25 well I had a crappy 125 that gave me nothing but headaches also. When I bought a newer bike I havnt had any issues with 2 stroke. One thing I didn’t know is 4 strokes are a bitch to kick start so I would definitely get e start or else you’ll be pissed off trying to start it.

@@brapperdan my first car was a 91 fox 5 speed. Does your driver seat have the “racer lean” the right side of my driver seat would lean pretty hard.
@@lMr033l yes it does. I have a kirkey in there but they won’t let me use it at the track Untill it’s bolted to a roll cage. I have a new tranny, an Eaton locker, 373 gears, 33 spline axles, and a aluminum driveshaft all waiting to be installed.

The reason you get arm pump so fast is the same reason it's a wheelie machine. Your posture and riding position are very bad.

Use your legs, stand up and over the bars a little with your ass out and lean to counter the acceleration and braking forces and your arms won't get so tired :)

I had a kx250f with an Athena 290 kit. There’s lots of videos on my channel. The 290 is quite a bit faster I think you’ll like it
