What about the fact Donkey Kong could use power ups? That needs to be incorporated in a future game.
Are we not going to talk about the fact that Mario and DK were in second place when they got targeted by the shell? Peach and Toad were in first, but weren't even affected by the explosion.
Going off the logic of this video that is because this is the blue shell and not the spike shell lol also can we just call it a kamikaze shell😅

I think it'd be really cool if in a DK Movie, Cranky Kong revealed to Donkey Kong that he was actually his grandson and that Donkey Kong Jr. had gone missing while DK was young while on an adventure/mission. DK, now fueled with a desire to meet his real dad, goes to find him but he's captured or something. Probably by King K. Rool and the Kritters.
This. This should be one of the plots of a DK spin-off film. The main goal being retrieving the banana hoard, while the other major plot is finding junior. DK III is the successor because of Cranky rather than Junior because Jr. is MIA, leaving his son to take his place.
I don't care if they call it "Blue Shell" or "Spiny Shell". I just wish it didn't hit me 3 times per race.
Only per race? How about 3 times per lap against the CPU on 150CC?
Just be not in first.
That way you'll only be in the blast radius of one or two of them instead of all three.
So nobody is going to bring up the speed running truck in rainbow road where you jump off the track to land in the lower track closing to the end of lap? They showed this trick in the movie.
DK and Cranky being father and son makes more sense than grandfather and grandson. Considering Nintendo kinda stopped talking about DK Jr
I hope that there is a sequel this movie was good
Watched it yesterday. It was a fun watch & the best character was the blue star in prison. The depression lines were so hilarious
I loved this movie but I wish it was longer
With the Mario bros movie doing very well I really hope we get a sequel me and my son can't wait to see yoshi
It could be called Dinosaur Kingdom since it was called Dinosaur Land in Super Mario World.

I'm OK with the DK Jr was a deadbeat dad narrative, hence why he wasn't in the DKC games. He went to the store for cigarettes and never came back.

I noticed that Mario grew when he got hit while having the mini mushroom, where in the games, you just die.

an other change to point out is that the mini mushroom reverts Mario to normal when he gets hit rather then kills him.

at least the OP forgotten cape feather got some shine. lol. thats all mario would need to wipe out the majority
of the koopa forces and out fly circles around bullet bill.
It should be noted that Nintendo has been trying to erase Toadsworth from the mainline Mario canon despite his presence in Sunshine, so that might be why he was absent from the movie.

@@j4zzy03 Nothing has officially been said for Toadsworth specifically, it’s just been a bunch of actions Nintendo has been taking over the last several years. It has something to do with the homogenization of how Toads look in the Mario world (Toadette notwithstanding), which directly impacted the more recent Paper Mario games.

Technically it's a blue spike shell as spoke Shells have been around since the beginning too and were red originally. But those were thrown by lakitu and often misnomered as lakitu shells....
Just to note though that the movie would be a prequel to most of the mario games, which can explain some of the discrepancies, like Pauline being mayor of a different location.
The beauty of Mario games to me is there is no consistent Canon and there doesn't have to be. You can try to figure a through line between the games & look for clues to put together some kind of timeline if you desired but you would be making stuff up. The game exists to be fun &each game has its own little story & plot. No need to make it convoluted

@SupportGaming2023 yeah loose Canon at best. See if Nintendo ever sticks to anything they say is Canon though. There's no consistency and it doesn't matter. Canon is overrated

The choice to make DK Cranky’s son instead of grandson and making neither of them having previous experience with Mario was hella weird to me. Also weird that there’s no relationship between Pauline and Mario at all. They don’t even meet. It’s not a deal breaker by any means. It’s just an odd choice but I guess they wanted to keep the story simple and not have any complicated plot lines that didn’t contribute to the story they wanted to tell.
It doesn't make sense to change the lore but hey its a movie

They just cut those plot details for a shorter runtime. They actually cut a LOT from the original version of this film…

The whole continuity issue is a little easier to squint at after Super Mario Galaxy ended with a whole universal reboot.
Is Mario a Mushroom Kingdom native in some titles and a Brooklyn native in others? Screw it, chalk it up to a universal reset.
I always thought than Yoshi's Island is just a bedtime story.

I guess they got rid of Donkey Kong Jr because that would just make it so much more confusing. Because that would mean that the “current” or “modern” DK is actually Donkey Kong III. Plus, what role would DK Jr. even have in this universe? Kranky is the old “grandpa” King Kong, and DK is the one that’s the rival for Mario. So DK Jr, or technically DK II, would just be stuck in the middle somewhere
Actually, in the original Super Mario Bros game storyline, Mario and luigi were from Brooklyn and stumbled upon a pipe that brought them to the mushroom kingdom, and Yoshis island just reckoned that storyline
What doesn’t make sense is how in Partners In Time Mario & Luigi we’re babies in the mushroom kingdom whereas in the movie they only discover the mushroom kingdom as adults. Idk it seems like a major plothole

Miyamoto said all the Mario characters are performers in a troupe, & play whatever role is required in the given title, hence the changing stories, & inconsistencies.
Ergo, everything different in the film is fine, & in keeping with the series history

My son and I had rumble seats at the theater and Bowser's entrance was the best. Those penguins never had a chance. Also is Rosalina dead and that's why sprite was so depressed?

I was expecting more from the movie, supposedly the bricks and coins were Mushroom Kingdom inhabitants who were turned into those things by Bowser, but they never explain that
@Hunter they kept the movie simple, what I'm saying about the bricks and coins comes from the booklet of the first Super Mario Bros. game for NES
Apparently there was going to be a scene in the movie of toads mining ‘floatium’ the substance the blocks and item boxes are made out of but it was cut from the final film
@@greenrobot5 yeah, that bit of lore has always tickled me, but it's low-key nightmare fuel when you think about it too much so I can't blame them for avoiding it 🤭

I need to move to the Chill Kingdom. That sounds like my kinda place lol. I can't believe you didn't mention Mario twisting Bowser around at the end, which was in the game but, just different. Or Peach with the axe? Which was actually cool. Or Toad and his connection with Princess Peach.
I'm hoping for Giga Bowser, Wario, Waluigi, Daisy, Rosalina since Luma was there. It was decent for the start. But they can really do so much.
All in all, I just want it to connect to a Super Smash Brothers movie. Especially with DK saying Smash a bunch of times. We have Sonic, Pokémon, now Mario and the crew. It's getting there. Heck, I'd be more excited for this than the Marvel movies seeing how things have been turning out since Endgame.😅
In DK64 Cranky calls DK his son too, so maybe they got the relationship from there?

@@J.O.R.Doh yeah! I’m not mad at the change I just thought we were trying to point out every inconsistency. Like Mario can’t punch brick blocks on his side but he does during the training sequence. It’s fine, but you just can’t do that in the games.
