This test is based on the total internal reflection. The fake one has not been cut to effect total internal reflection on the base cuts, if it were it would pass this test, but would not show the desired double refraction flash effect from the top, only lighting up white. Tests are as follows, thermal pen check, visual inspection for flaws, polarized light check, and test with a laser or XRF to determine natural or man-made origin. Real diamond is the key word here. So lab grown vs earth mined of the same 4C's Do not show any difference between each other using your method. They are both considered real diamonds. The difference is nitrogen from what I understand. Also there is a filter jewellers use and they have updated their equipment to help spot the difference.. This is why a Jeweler can offer a reasonable amount of money for a real where as no jewellers will take a lab grown. As lab grown get better. So does the equipment to weed them out. And a piece of paper with a blue X and two different stones as they do not share the same refractive index. And using a fake stone that is more than double the size isn't a good indicator. Plus the actual diamond you have shows darker probably due to the amount of carbon involved. But the fact still remains you used two very different test models.

Douglas Gilmore get ur "diamond", a piece of white paper and draw an x or a dot. If you can see the x or dot through your "diamond" its fake, real diamonds have imperfections and scatter light so you will not be able to see through it
Cubic Zirconia is nicer than the real diamond (my opinion). I only prefer the real thing because of the edge sharpness, hardness and to say I got real diamonds. But CZ's still shine brighter and sparklier

Cubic Zirconia is nicer than the real diamond (my opinion). I only prefer the real thing because of the edge sharpness, hardness and to say I got real diamonds. But CZ's still shine brighter and sparklier
