The fake stone used in the video is cubic, the same method can be used for moissanite please use the measurement of the stone as a second clarification

Nowadays blue dia.onds are very rare white diamonds plenty and yellow impurity filled diamonds galore a.ongst diamonds blue id the best quality then there is old cut and modern cut lot of difference in value my understanding sir even.though me not a gemmologist or diamond cutting expert

I have a stone that has a deep red colour and few greenish on one side. When light is turned against it shines so brightly red like fire. I took it to geologists and chemists they found that it is harder than Diamond, it has sulfur oxide and about 30% of copper in it. So they cannot really tell what gem is it although both test have said that the stone is harder than rubi and diamond though its redness is of that of rubi but it fiery red when a light is approached to it. Can you help or give me some insight on this?

What does it work on Ruby's and spinel garnets or rhodochrosite? I have a 4 Carat stone that could be Ruby cuts scratches in everything else including cubic zirconia
You should never take a chance with gem stones besides diamonds and try scratching it against anything. The best thing to do is to send it to a diamond /gemstone grading laboratory www.gia.edu

Is it true that if you breathe on a fake diamond it will fog up for a few seconds but if you breathe on a real diamond it will not fog?
I just tried that on a real diamond. The diamond did fog up
both will fog up, but real diamonds fog only last for 3secs if it last longer than that it says its not diamond thats what i saw in other vid

Wish i could do the dot test but the very small diamonds I found have a bronze colored setting on bottom. I have 8 of them that were affixed to a strip of clear rubber. The only test I could do was drop it in water (sank like a rock) and it does reflect white sparkles onto my finger when raised to sunlight. I'll have to take them to a jeweler. Also looks like this thread attracted the scammer crowd...don't contact any of them
Hi, small diamonds are sometimes a pain to work with. The dropping in the water test does not work well with small diamonds as i tried to show in my other video. Did you try the scratch test I have a video on that ? also when raised to sunlight you supposed to see lots of reflecting colour know as a diamonds FIRE ... The x and the dot is just markings. A diamond will reflect the pattern underneath. With diamond stimulants you can kinda see it. Read up on diamonds high reflective index.. you will then understand how it works

Is the fake diamond a moissanite ? If it is not a moissanite, how can you tell a moissanite apart from a diamond ?
A diamond has a high reflective index compared to other stones
I know on many diamond testers, they have problems with determining the difference. Those would be thermo pen type testers. Those seem to be the most common used. If there was one test that supercedes all others that you would use and most confident about , what would that be X and O like in video. I am assuming this method supercedes others available, to me it would be less expensive as in your video.
@@getsmart2594 I have made this video for educational purposes. I would strongly suggest a trained gemologist to look at the stone and not Jewelers because I feel that that jewelers dont completely know about gemology. Thermal pens may not always be accurate.

Consider that if people want to test their diamonds, most of the diamonds are already in a ring, pendant or any jewelry.
your test are useless if diamond is mounted on a ring already, also, common people don't have tester, so it is better to show how to test in this specific conditions.

I used to test hundred of thousands of diamonds and a UV light or black wont work because there is a large amount of diamonds out there with absolutely no fluorescence

This is not sufficient to prove a Diamond is Natural or Synthetic. Fake is the wrong word to use according to the G.I.A. The best testing to prove a Natural vs Synthetic Diamond requires analysis using a Gemological Microscope.

A really good synthetic diamond will pass these simple tests. De Beers had to start etching serial numbers on their diamonds because of the quality of synthetic diamonds. In these videos, they all use cheap cubic zirconia "diamonds" which fail many of the simple tests. Jewelers make more from real diamonds :)

I have a video where the SG test just does not work and jewelry size diamonds it's called how to test diamonds with water. If you read the description the stone I used was a cubic zirconia
