White Guy Orders Sushi in Perfect Chinese, Employees Stunned

- So most sushi restaurants in the U.S. are actually run by Chinese people, and so today we ordered sushi takeout in NYC using Chinese! An interesting social experiment to see what it’s like for a white guy to order sushi in Chinese! And remember to check out go.pathofcha.com/xiaoma to get some awesome tea!!!
We filmed this video last week and coronavirus matters have only gotten worse in NYC. Restaurants are still open for takeout in NYC, and now is a great time to support them, but remember to please to stay safe and maintain a safe distance from other people in the restaurant when ordering - or better yet, order by phone and go pick up!

@@Cyhcg5uhgb It's different if you live with someone. Mainly that you're probably going to get your family/roommate sick anyway if you get sick; simply because you share a living space (and not everyone can afford to live on their own; especially as people have started losing their jobs). I don't stay 6 feet away from my mother when we go donate plasma for example. We also stay inside for about 2 weeks at a time, so if we get sick; we'd probably know about it and not go out. 1. I stumbled upon your videos and have watched them one after another, and I start crying. I am not Chinese, but Filipino-American (unfortunately, do not speak Tagalog). Why am I crying? Because you touch the core or soul of a person when you speak to them in their native language. It is humbling and honoring at the same time. I saw the video where they mentioned that you had gained weight. I started laughing not because you gained weight, but because it must be in Asian culture or at least Filipino culture, that when they see you have gained weight, they tell you to your face. @addictedtoherb
its more about containing your cough rather than stopping it from coming in to you. thats what a mask is really for.
@@unknowna703 they help stop the spread but not a cure. But thanks for your pointless point anyway.
I don't like that he is wearing a mask. I intern at a hospital, and I still get to come in and see the situation unfold. In preparation for the huge influx of patients, masks are really being rationed to the point where nurses are bringing in their own masks to wear because they aren't allowed to access them if they aren't working in the airborne and droplet precaution rooms.
Private citizens wearing masks really just worsens the situation for everyone including yourself. Yes, they decrease your risk, but it is still possible to contract the virus. By taking away masks from healthcare workers who need it, you increase their chances of contracting COVID-19. If they get sick, quality of care goes down for everyone. Remember, the majority of cases are mild, so it isn't worth wearing the masks and depriving healthcare workers of them. What people are rightly scared of are the severe cases, where healthcare workers are needed. So please do not hoard masks for yourselves. Like social distancing, we all need to do our part to make the situation better for everyone and therefore ourselves. Like you would tell your kids, just because everyone is doing something does not make it right. You need to be brave enough to do what is right. We will all get through this, but not by letting fear motivate our decisions.

This man makes the same video over and over again and I never get bored of it.
Chinese is actually one of the hardest languages to learn as the pronunciation is incredibly difficult and learning the alphabet is an extensive process. There are different dialects that are hard to learn aka Mandarin, Cantonese, Hakka and others. There’s really no languages that you can learn that would make it easier. Like how some people say if you learn Spanish that you can learn Portuguese very easily? Some Asian languages don’t really have that close connection so the only practice you can really get out of Chinese is immersing yourself. People are always surprised because even native Chinese speakers know that it’s hard. It’s so refreshing though to see a man, who obviously isn’t chinese, take time to expand his knowledge of the language and communicate with natives.
there’s no alphabet
The pronunciation isn't even that difficult, you can master tones in less than a week
@@CommonCommiestudios Juggling them in sentences fluently which could interpret different meanings if pronounced incorrectly is far harder than most languages at the very least.
@@tamelnv7048 True, but still it's more difficult to articulate entire sentences in any language
I suspect if you learn e.g. Mandarin it becomes easier to learn other Chinese languages due to being related (often but not always dialects)
Chinese guy: "Why aren't Americans wearing masks. I don't get it...."
Forgets to check himself 😭
There has to be masks for them to wear. You also aren't supposed to wear them unless you have something. Doing otherwise takes those masks away from people who actually need them.
@@eodyn7 (edit: I'm agreeing with you btw) the standard masks everyone is wearing only prevent the user from spreading the disease but the one Xiaoma is wearing is an N95 mask, which does protect you from the outside. As expensive as they are, they're all one time use masks, and there's no real reason to use them unless you're around a lot of people or working in a hospital.
Protecting yourself now is the way to prevent pandemics. Saying wearing one when you’re not sick is taking PPE away From someone who needs it is just not logical! It’s a third world nonsense to a first world issue.
