Do these two machines require a cooling flush before extraction?
I noticed that you just put the cup underneath, started steaming then pulled the lever for extraction…..
In Australia we have the Expobar Barista Minore IV do you have a video of this model and is it an update to the Brewtus?

Hi Shane, need for cooling flush depends on where the machine is in its heating cycle and time since last use. Machines using pressurestats to control temps are more likely to need a flush. Most recent Pro 500 is a PID machine. It typically only needs a flush after sitting on and idle for awhile. You can check for need by doing a short flush and looking for turbulent flow or excess steam from the group head which indicates flash boiling. If you see that continue flushing until flow is smooth. I'm not sure about the Barista Minore IV being an update to the Brewtus but it does look very similar.

please help me which machine to get for build quality and least warranty claims....as I witnessed a pressure valve explosion on a newly acquired machine and now i am scared... ecm? profitec? expobar? bezzera? quickmill? lelit?rocket? which one has the best quality and best shot...i don't think i would need double boiler as I mostly do the shots

My current favorite HX machine is the Profitec Pro 500 PID:

With the PID it has incredibly stable brew temps - among the best you'll
get in an HX machine. Here's a video on the Pro 500 PID with Scace test

I think I see what Todd means about the single hole tip on the Office. I moved from a Gaggia Classic with the latte art steam wand to the Profitec Pro 500 and the steaming experience is certainly different on the 500. I went with the 500 based on appearance compared the the Office. That said, I think the Office looks like one heck of a value for the price.

Hi Brad, Thanks for the comment and sharing your experience on the upgrade from a Classic to the Pro 500. Expobar machines are great values! They're not as refined as the Profitec line and they do not have PID temperature control on their HX boiler machines like you have on the Pro 500.

How much ml of water at consistent temp can be expected from HX machine of this class (I understand heat exchanger tube may of different size, depending on slight variations of boiler volume and orientation)? I make ~180ml cafe crema and small boiler SBDU machine is bordering on edge when doing such volume.

Hi, what is the pressure on Expobar during the extraction? Did you leave it factory set or you have change it? The cameraman seems to have a passion for the milk :). Thanks!

+oct blk Should be right around 9 bar. We tune Expobar machines to produce 10 bar with a backflush disc in place which delivers 9 bar at the group when brewing.

Hi Todd, Hi Mark ! I've watched your video a couple time, and just noticed that the 2015 versions of those machine have a different kind of pressurestat (commercial vs. regular). What about 2019 (or 2018?) version of those same machine? I know the profitec now has a PID, but I don't know if other things have changed inside the machines.
And if pressurestat still different, have you notices if one of them break more or if the temperature stability is harder to get on the expobar ?
BTW, I've learned a lot watching your videos, thanks a lot for that!! You do an amazing job!! And if possible, open your next coffee business in Canada , this way we can order from you guys :-)

Hi BH, Thanks for the comment and question. Lever still uses a pressurstat. Have to go to a Brewtus to get PID in Expobar machine. The latest Pro 500 is PID!. Type of pressurestat is in my mind not a big concern. On a P-stat HX machine you almost always need to do a flush before brewing. New crop of HX machines with PID like the Pro 500 do not require a flush - very temp stable! Of course more $$ than the Lever.
