Thoughts on IRAN After 6 Months...

  • Iran touched my heart in more ways than I ever imagined.
6 months ago I was on a 2 week journey around Iran, and not a day goes by where I don't think about the fun times I had in Iran.
In my mind, Iran is still the most misunderstood country in the world. It has THE MOST humble & hospitable people, delicious foods, ancient history and a culture that feels like you've traveled back in time.
And should I mention that Iran is one of the world's safest countries? I felt safer traveling in Iran than I do in my own country -- this is not a joke.
And just in case you are wondering - nobody told me to make this video. It is not sponsored. I made it out of pure joy because I want to share with you my 100% honest thoughts and feelings towards Iran. I can't wait to visit again soon (hopefully 2019!)
Have you ever been to Iran? Do you agree that it's the most misunderstood country in the world?

I met Iranian people during my student years in the UK. Now, some of my best friends are Iranian. The are some of the smartest, most educated and with the best sense of fashion I have ever met. As a Greek I feel extremely close to them and I genuinely see them as brothers and sisters. Often, people group Greece together with other Mediterranean countries and I ALWAYS rush to correct them how Iranians are the closest to us. The links are numerous, there isn't enough space to cover even 1% of them. Such a shame that due to sanctions and their theocratic government that the World is deprived of their input. I can't wait for the day that the West will fully allow them to open themselves to us because they have so much to offer in literally every aspect of life which is positive and productive, that day will truly make the World a better place for everyone. Hopefully the Worlds leaders will soon come to realize that a not fully open and integrated Iran to the rest of the World simply deprive us of so much.

The visa on Arrival at the airport which should have been swift and done with in 10 mins, for 5 couples waiting, yet the Officers were busy with their coffees, and kept us waiting for an hour.
Apart from that, everything was pleasant, except the occasional checks of passport when riding the train from Tehran to Isfahan. The Khajur bridges were beautiful and magnificent, my driver was honest, kept his word, english was well spoken by most, and the public is keen to meet up with us, tourists and speak a few english words with us. In Isfahan we discovered this little gem, almost an underground posh restaurant called Malek Soltan Jarchibashi, few hundred metres away from the grand square, next to Hakim mosque.
We then travelled to Hamedan, where an old ancient city of of Ecbatana is recently incovered and where Avicenna finally died there, as its Mayor. Then off to the Caspian seas across the snowy mountains from Tehran, up to Ramsar city.

Same here brother, people can certainly get along and respect eachother. We're not that different after all, but U.S gov will have none of it when it comes to peace and this has been the case for most years since mid 50´s.
long story short, Iran was on the verge of being recognized as a progressive and rich nation back in the 50´s striving towards a functioning welfare system providing free healthcare, free education and social security for all. But in order to do so Iran needed to nationalize its oil which at the time had already been heavily exploited by the imperialistic British Empire (through APOC) since some of the greatest oil fields were discovered in 1909.
The British at the time convinced U.S to topple Iran's democratically elected gov. for their own interests in the region (excuse ofc being fears of communism!?) plus the further exploitation of Iranian oil fields and minerals. The deadly 1953 coup d'état ensued with the help of CIA, the monarch Shah later came to power and he always had the interest of the West in mind during his rule up until the 70's when he started to openly speak against the double standards of the West (mainly U.S and UK) which were holding back rapid progression within (at the time) a secular Iran!
Then in 1979 we had the tragic Islamic revolution which has lead to heavy regression ever since in terms of basically everything, People have suffered decades and died protesting this fascistic theocratic regime. It can't be contained forever though and change will come led by the younger generation.
Sadly most people will never trust UK gov. nor U.S gov. ever again for all the destruction, misery and death they've caused not only in Western Asia but all around the world
for decades. With great power comes great responsibility, but they're still betraying people and ruining lives globally. 40 years of sanctions on Iran has now been a 4 decades long and extensive economic warfare that has ONLY affected ordinary people within Iran, why is it fair and justified to some no matter what lies they've been told??
I just wish more people could separate people from the immoral politicians in power who have only been serving their own interests, causing division amongst people through media with lies and excuses for their crimes!
Much love to you and everyone who can see through this bs, recognizing that we're not all that different. Take care, Peace!

Governments war with each other over money or the right to what will be money soon.....most people in this world have no say and can do nothing to stop your home country from doing what ever it's going to do. Take a individual person from each country and let them talk for a few days and I bet they could come up with a better solution to the "disputes" "we" have than our current leaders are doing now....any comments on that anyone?

Been there and can only confirm a 100%. I've travelled more than a 100 countries, and people in Iran were amongst the most friendly, open and interested I've ever met. No more than 5 minutes would pass before someone approaches you with exactly the questions mentioned in the video: (1) where are you from? (2) what do you think about Iran?, and (3) tell me more about yourself and about your country! Iran has an absolutely weird government, but people are so cool. And honestly, many countries have weird governments - some even have awkward orange clowns as president!
