EVEN BETTER news oomfies. UDIMs are now supported, so separate image files for pages are a thing. You still need to specify the number of images inside the material for proper looping.
Very cool that works! I'm guessing that all the images need to be loaded into memory... can't have a full high resolution book perhaps. Another way is to go back to what you were trying initially, but pick what frames the frame offset. You'll need an image node for every page that could be visible, and drivers that tell what frames to show, based on the progress, and material trickery to make those pages show for the correct image nodes... Also previously, below I suggested a way to compress the (mono spaced) book in a material, with tile references, but only need to do that if all pages need to be visible/loaded into memory...
For the unique pages: Maybe you can create a single texture with all the pages, send the page index value to shader nodes and manipulate the uv coordinates of the page mesh to fall on different pages of the texture depending on the instance?
Good news my oomfies! Multiple pages work now, with the caveat that they're all laid out horizontally on a single image file. You also have to specify the number of pages on that image in the material. Just gotta' cope with this workaround for now. In a perfect world, you'd just be able to use an image sequence.
You could use a mask to separate each page, a grate node for that, is located in the Material editor, under geometry node there is a random per island output that will set a value between 0 and 1 (note you have to be in cycles for it to work) for each page you can use that in a color ramp that has a Red, Green, Blue and Alpha channels that will give you a black and white solid mask when used with a separate RGB node for random pages, they will repeat doing it this way from page to page but I agree using an image sequence would be nice to pick a frame for each page but until that day comes ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ all and all this is an amazing book, 10/10 would read again!!!
Hey Max, would it be possible to achieve some other results via maybe storing vertex colors per island or something of the likes by using the Image Texture node within geonodes which has a frame input?
I know that I am a year late but you have really good tutorials and node set ups. I can tell that you have programming experience due to the neatness of your nodes.
Yowsers, that's one hell of a node setup. Super nice result. Another good one would be newspaper maker. Only minor thing I'd change is the pages seem like they could have a slight amount of "thickness" added to them (even though they're paper thin oc).
This is insanely clever. Loved it! I'm mostly learning blender because I can't afford to hire an artist to create promotions for my book and have an artistic brain. This... wow. I can't pretend to understand geometry nodes, but going through the stuff you have in the file... you might as well draw a small district road map there and say it will all add up to make the book work. Mind boggling. Brilliant.
Yes Tutorial! Looks awesome - you hit all the points. My only suggestions would be the individual page images for sure. Also, some controls to edit the spine thinner and the bend so it would be great for bound magazines as well. Lastly the page turns look great but would be really nice to have a control to put a little curl on the top or bottom corner as well like its being turned by hand.
An amazing piece of work. You are some kind of genius. I downloaded, tried it out then went back and paid for it. Never seen any book opening animation as brilliant as this. Added all my own pages and although I had trouble figuring out how to update the UDIM to start with, as soon as I figured it out, all the pages appeared. Thanks so much.
This is incredible! Is there a way to set the Pages to Shade Smooth? I'm having to increase the Page Resolution a lot in order to not see the individual faces for close-up shots which is skyrocketing my render times. EDIT: I Added a "SET SHADE SMOOTH" node at the end of the Geo Nodes tree and that solved the issue.
@@jakedanielscg Disable the BevelCoverNgon modifier that's underneath the geo nodes modifier. I have no idea what it does besides completely tank the performance, but set shade smooth node starts working w/ this modifier inactive
This is amazing! I love reading your organization, it's fun as I explore. I'm having trouble figuring out the X size for the pages. Do you know how to fix it?
Very cool, so for the pages, sprite sheet as someone else mentioned and it sounded like you got working, if you just needed mono spaced text, it would be possible to encode the book into a pixel for every character on the page, so for a page with 80 characters per line and 60 rows, each page just needs 80x60 for each tile in a sprite sheet... and each of those pixels references a font sprite sheet to pick a character...
Thought about doing something like this as well, but it's one of those things you just make for the heck of it, not because anyone actually needs it. For the individual pages you could probably use a giant sprite sheet and UV mapping, right?
Yes, but I just really wanted individual textures. Also, only made it because I needed it for 7 seconds of my next movie, but then started adding more and more stuff to it, until I thought it was worth sharing.
@@MaxEdge420 Annoying that there's not a pluggable socket for the frames in an image sequence (for now, at least?)-- could we use drivers to rig up the sequence frame to the page index and make a flip book?
This is a great model, thanks so much for sharing. I'm a bit of newbie, so I can't get more then 9 images to loop with the page node. Can it work with more than that? Thanks again.
Thanks a lot for a cool project! I can't figure out how to reduce the stroking of this book? Could you explain? Shade smooth dont work or i dont understande how work it

@B M Basically multiple UVs for 1 mesh

can someone use this for commercial products?
I would sit through even 12 hours of tutorial to see how you did this
"seems kinda straightforward, maybe I could try this"
Sees node tree
"Mmm, scattering pebbles it is for me then"
Unrealistic, the binding didn't immediately start to fall apart because the publisher cheaped out.
But for real, this is pretty fantastic.

Wait it's free?! That's insane, thank you so much!
no unique pages = looking at that masterpiece over and over again

what if i use this in unity game engine ? will it worj lol
do you have a tutorial for that?
I can't seem to use more than 9 pages. Sorry to be a bother, but where's the setting for that in Materials?
I don't know when geometry nodes were introduced but I see people are having a TON of fun with them
Fun
Fun, yup

hello, can you explain me how to make all the pages appear? It just show me one image, thank you
That's brilliant, I can't believe such a mundane animation could be so beautiful! 😍
From what I hear about clothe simulations this is a VERY BG DEAL.
Honestly thats hella impressive! good job dude
Dude I adore your sense of humor! Keep going! :)
This is what I subscribed for, thank you for delivering
ow my holy fking god... ur at another anotherrrr level
Oh my gosh, thank you so much for this! Wonderful job.
You're a mad man, insane job dude.
Just bought it on gumroad. Excellent work! Thank you.
Awesome, Dude!!!!
You know you gotta make the tutorial. It looks amazing.

Set shade smooth node tip worked thanks dawg
This is pretty insane!
This is truly perfect. When I grow up, I wanna make such insane stuff
Crazy how fascinating it is to be able to make something like a book in Blender.
Normal folks will never know how complicated it is lol
Downloaded and the nodes? wohhhh! impressive! time to study hard for me now lol ... salute you for a great work!
Purchased! Thanks, this is awesome!
This is the best geonodes book I've found, please do a tutorial on it!
I have been looking for THIS for a looong time for a big project. MaxEdge my saviour. Take my money.
You re insane! amazing.
Genius.
Now we just need a game Dev making a School Sim game where you're a diligent student that is studying to be the most evil book worm ever.
AMAZING!
good work!!
Man! thanks a LOT! You was manage a great work! You are just save my day!
you are insane maaan
This looks crazy amazing... Let me try this out first MaxEdge 😁
This man is too powerful

increible este libro hecho con puro geometry nodes! te felicito!

Make a 3h tutorial for this. *Holds gun*

It could be adapted and used in motion graphics for magazine and book advertising. Not to mention introductions for fairytale content.
i KNEW this was possible but i just didn't know quite how to do it! glad i didn't try because judging by that node set up it was not very easy!
time to place this thing in the corner of room on render
3h tutorial! LESGO!!
Omg u were the one who made this? AND the moth movie? Ur a frikin legend mate
This is close to magic in my humble opinion o.O
Amazing

Oh My God... Thats insane....
I got this file. love it. is there a way to have the cover also be paper and not hardcover?
Soo good 😇😇 can I use this in my projects
I literally fainted after seeing the geometry nodes... But, great job!
So cool
Did anyone figure out how to have the pages shaded smooth?
Incredible. I'll just hold your beer
Awesome work! Any restrictions on how we use it?
The truth is that the unknown scares all of us, but we just have to practice so we can get well with the software.
thasts one realy goow af wooow
😆great job, It really helpful.I'll buy you a coffee after try it 🤝
That's awesome can you get Adobe pdf to do that
my jaw was on the floor for the entire video
what a geo node man 😶
How can I give thickness to the pages? "Page Width" just gives you more space between the pages but no volume
Pls make a 3h Tutorial on this. I'm gonna watch it.
Come on, @MaxEdge420 you know this world needs this 3h tutorial right!
How I can move the sheets ?
I'm gonna "bookmark" this video for later
0:30 he lookin like a flight journal
can you differently applied texture per pages?
How come when I open it in Blender (Im using the 3.2 version) I dont see any book?
how about adding a video and making the video appear in the book as frames ????
if you can't make a 3h tutorial, pls just showcase us how it's done and the idea of how it works. That'd be very useful :)
Woah!
Wish I knew about this before I spent 25 bucks on the one the market offers limites to 100 pages. Dangit
Hey quick question?
If I were to purchase this would I be allowed to use it commercially ? Incredible work dude... you're absolutely nuts
This book was made by a God! How did you get the pages to stick to the spine?
how i can subdivide paper because the resolution tap dosen't effect
thank you
its... pain
WOW WOW WOW!
i can't do any geo node stuff, crashes EVERY time, and i have a pretty beefy pc. anyone tell me what i should focus on to get better performance?
Peak.
