Nevaeh I have no idea of your age but since you drive I assume you are at least 16. May I offer you some advice from an old man (71). I left my Moms house when I was 18 and really thought I had the world in my hands I It wasnt until my early 20s that I realized how much I missed being at home with my Mom. This could be a long long story but I will just give you my advice. Stay with your parents as long as you can. Their love and guidance is more important in your early years then you will ever know. Grow up a little more and enjoy home life. You wont regret it in the long run.

All you can do young lady, is follow your heart and live your life. That being said, I lived and worked in the Washington DC Metropolitan area for 12 years and absolutely hated it. I grew up in the mountains of central Pennsylvania, and couldn't wait to leave for the city. Looking back, it was the worse decision I could have made, but it was my life and it made me who I am. My advice, don't rush in to anything. You're still young and have plenty of time to decide.

There is nothing wrong to explore and find your niche,BUT, have an escape plan! Yes, city has tons of everything to see and do, but the thing that always bothered me is that there really is no privacy, the minute you walk out your door you are in a mass of people, high taxes and lots of noise…no space and hard to find peace. You are a beautiful soul and woman who comes from a great family…never loose or forget where you come from and the values that make you, you!

long story short. I have four daughters. My oldest three decided they like the slower life of country living although they decided not to move back to Texas with us. My youngest daughter, who just finished beautician school, has decided to stay where she knows, a city in VA. Although it’s breaks my heart I don’t get to see my daughters all the time I feel proud they were strong enough to make their own decisions, choose where they want to live and what do what they want to do. You find you. You seem to have been raised in a household that is nurturing in preparing you as an adult. You be you.

You have good parents that understand what they wanted and have worked hard to give the best for reading their family. You can always visit the busy cities but to have a place of calm refuge only some can enjoy that. Going to college can help you find a social life during your dating years. Beware that you have a strong foundation for decision making and stay close to those who know you well. And you will always have the support of strong wisdom on your side. You are a beautiful young woman who is very aware of her growing curiosity of life and the world and lives in. Wishing you the best life ever!

People are cruel, and especially those that have the cameras eye are used the most from others who pretend to be a friend and really they just use you and hurt you out of selfish or jealous reasons.
The world has changed and not for the better. Iv been through both in the school and online. Online is better you have access to all information needed to complete assignments.
Graduate school will have a need to attend live depending on your career choice. Please stay with your parents. I promise you will be much wiser for it, and your parents can provide protection and great advice you will need.
You have much to offer, and still need your parents protection. I advice as a mom myself. My kids are grown so trust me when I advise it's from a mom's perspective.

While I don't regret never leaving the city, we yearn to be in a much quieter place. We travel to our property in the Methow Valley as much as we can where we can think, here the birds and not have to deal with the craziness that the city brings. This is where we find ourselves and the peace that comes with it. The city will always be there... Cherish every moment you have with your family in the country, time goes so quickly.

I am the same age as your parents, I am going to offer a little different type of advice than I have been reading. I love both the city and the country and have bounced between both due to my career. There will be times in your life when you may crave a more active pace of life. Don't dismiss one for the other because you can experience both, and even have both as I do. I have an apt in the city and a country retreat, and I love both. Vacationing in a city is completely different from living in one, there are smaller cities or larger towns. You may thrive in a college town or a small city or where your parents live. Try it all, and take a few risks. You are one of the lucky ones who will have a safe space to land with your parents.

I am far older than you but spent about a dozen years living in the country and five years ago moved to a bigger town...but, not too big. Though I've gotten used to my new place, I still miss the quiet, the bluest of skies, the shooting stars and so much more. So thankful I had that opportunity to live like that. I like to visit a big city...but, there is no place like home.

The concrete city makes me depressed and I long for a homestead just like your parents are building. I want to live between trees, flowers. I want to smell nature instead of gasoline, people smoking, food shops everywhere. I want to eat what I grow, on my land. But I already walked those miles that are in front of you. And you have to do you. You must. Just remember to build something. Plan it, work it out. I wish you all the blessings of a good life. You have all the power to make it that. Cities are fine for visiting, with opportunities to experience new & modern things. Years ago I felt I was losing my sense of self, working crazy shifts as a paramedic in the city, luckily I was able to transfer back to my original home area in coastal/rural Australia. Watching the sun come up from a calm sea in the stillness of dawn, hearing so many different birds in the trees behind my house, giving the cows nearby a gentle pat & looking into their gorgeous big eyes, my life is so much better. I can still see shows with a 2hr car trip north to my sister in Brisbane, “Red Hot Chilli Peppers” last month, musical “SIX” tomorrow, “Cirque du Soleil” in July 2023, “Pink” in February 2024. Nevaeh, you may have to leave your home in the future to pursue your dreams, however remember you will always be able to return. Take care & cheers🥰

Girly, I am so happy to hear you say you prefer your home to the city. First, I agree with who said it's going to be dangerous in cities in the near future. Second, I actually start seeing more and more cool people choose to leave cities. It's like they start to realize the beauty of real life is smothered in the cities by artificial shiny things, the constant noise (not nature noises), people who are asleep in life, nasty people because they've been toxified by the city life.... I could go on, but you get the idea. Seriously, I know you're at the age of liking to be cool and do cool things. That's fine, but please keep that gracefulness about you while at it. That is a part of beauty and you will, believe it or not, have many admiring you a lot more. It gives an element of being centered and confident. I applaud your parents also for bringing you up to be the great young lady that you are.

Sweetie, we all want something we don't have. We all dream. I think a good question for you to ask yourself is "what do I want out of life". Do I want wholesomeness, peace, tranquility? Do I really want city life and relating with people from all walks of life? The good, the bad, the ugly? Today is extremely different than it was growing up in the 60s & 70s when people never locked their doors; people trusted people. Think about this wisely. Chart your thoughts on paper....a negative side and a positive side; summarize each thougth then give it a score. This will help you to SEE your collective thoughts and allow you to make a better decision. Good luck.

It's good to branch out from time to time and see what's out there, to learn how to be independent and be able to take care of yourself but you will always have home to come back too. Enjoy every moment because time goes so quickly.
Have a blessed day, happy valentine's day 😊

Advise from an old man - If a university is in your plans pick one that is in a major city. I was a country boy who went to the University of Washington, right in the middle of Seattle. It was the best thing for me, I was exposed to so many different types of people, cultures, ways of thinking. There were so many opportunities to experience new and enlightening things. A university education should be so much more than just learning a field of study, it's about getting a broad view of the world.
Also, travel. Use every opportunity to see the world. And not just the tourist traps, and not just Europe. There is value in learning to understand people that are different from you.
In the end I happily moved back to the same small town I grew up in, but I can't imagine not having those experiences of my early twenties.

You are very wise choosing your home and not the city. You are very grown up for your age. You all have a little slice of heaven on that mountain. Country life is the best. Thanks for taking us along. Take care, see ya :)

You might consider the national guard or reserve if you don't like it your only out a few months of training and a weekend a month and 2 weeks a year training of course ask someone who has done it recently, it's been about 50 years since I did it. You will do great at whatever you do.

So much noise, crime, ect in city life that I don't think I would ever want to live in a big city but some absolutely love it and thrive within the city life! If you choose to go that direction to spread your wings just be careful and experience the things that make your heart smile. Just don't forget where home is in the country!

I believe you should always follow your heart with logic of course being applied. That being shared, for me anyhow, City Life consumes our souls and Kind Spirit's. It just does, I don't think it's healthy for Anyone, and wish everyone could at least have the opportunity to choose Country Living. Country Living keeps us "grounded", literally and metaphorically, which then allows us to Venture into the City for a 4x a year Celebration for some Special event or person, to where we can actually enjoy it, for 4 day's, MAYBE 4 day's tops - LoL 3 day's is probably more like it. lol If you trust in your heart, your upbringing, and your Super Smart head, you'll always make the right decisions in life, because you know you can learn from every experience. You'll be fine in whatever you choose, because you have what many don't, A Great Foundation, in the Family you have. You've got this Nevaeh!! 🙂

Nevaeh, There are advantages and disadvantages in living in either place. I've lived most of my life in the city but love the country as well. The ease of living in the city is that most things are close at hand. The theaters, malls, entertainment, etc are just down the block or across the city. When I in lived near downtown St. Paul I owned my own home. I planned my yard around a peaceful existence. I surrounded myself with beautiful flower gardens, a small vegetable garden and had a privacy fence. I had a quiet existence until I drove my car to work each day to the downtown area of tons of traffic, and a zillion of people scurrying around. On weekends and vacations I headed up to northern Minnesota to my parents beautiful home on a lake. The quietness, the wild animals, sound of the waves hitting the shoreline, wood stove warming the house and our Saturday night Bar B Q's were amazing. There is good and bad elements no matter where we reside. You have plenty of time to decide where it is you want to claim where you live. As you grow your inner need to be in one place will change. Maybe change several times. Just remember, no matter where you go in life, home is where your heart is.
