Mom like daughter
I have the same serger and an old singer sewing machine. She’s right they don’t make them like that. Everything now is disposable and plastic and those are all metal! They will last forever.
Such a lovely visit. Linda you are a wonderful daughter to your truly lovely mother. So very nice to see all your projects and proposed ideas. Thank you for a wonderful catch up.
Oh Linda you and your Mom are so sweet ! It’s wonderful that you are able to still spend time together and wonderful that she is able to still enjoy so much of life ! Thank you for a great podcast!
Thank you so much!
Lovely knitting time together with you ;)......Lana Gatto is an Italian yarn company 🤣🤣 maybe that´s why their patterns are free
Thank you🤗You would think I would have figured that out … “Lana” means wool in Spanish…. Where was my brain -lol😂😂
Linda, your Christmas sweater with the teal yarn you dyed is going to be gorgeous! I love that teal color! So nice to meet your mom. For a granny cardigan idea, look up the Hexagon Crochet Cardigan Tutorial on the Ophelia Talks Crochet CZcams channel. It’s not granny squares but uses the granny stitch in a big hexagon that you fold and seam to form the cardigan. There are also a couple of follow up videos with tips about the sleeve tapering and the ribbing. There is a pdf pattern on her website you can buy, but the video tells you all you need. I plan to make this at some point. She uses James C Brett Marble Chunky yarn.
Thank you so much for the tips! Will definitely check it out . Happy Crafting🥰
Oh macular degeneration, I wish that condition did not exist! From what I hear from my patients though (as a nurse not a Dr) they say the shots do help a lot. Fingers crossed that is the case for you!
I love the story of Lucy and your new huggable Lucy
I love when you and your mom podcast together! Love the bling on the chicken 😊
So lovely ladies ❤
Wonderful podcast. Your mum is adorable 😊. Loved all of the projects you both made. I used to knit and crochet with my mum but she passed just over a year ago and I miss her every day. ❤ When you were talking about sergers, I have one that I bought in 1994. It's a Husqvarna and still serges beautifully. It had a few hicups a couple of years ago but got it serviced and again works like a charm. Sometimes older is better😂. Look forward to your next podcast and hopefully you will have your mum on again in the near future. Happy crafting.😊
Hi Sheri- very sorry for your loss. Mum and I are pretty close so I understand. Husqvarna has a good reputation. If my mom had not given me hers I would have been looking at that line. I had mine serviced twice because it “froze” due to sitting too long- great motivation to sew! Mom will definitely be back soon. Thank you for watching.🥰
Hi Linda I just finished your latest podcast. Another fantastic episode, love when your mom joins in 😊. My mom also has shots in her eyes every month for the same disease. You mentioned Nancy Wheeler’s sock along. The deadline for the KAL is March 31 so you will be able to finish your socks and enter them. Her pattern sale ended in February. Cannot wait for your next adventure.
Thank you Nancy… Very sorry your mom has MD as well- very worrisome. I posted on Instagram a correction regarding the KAL”end date”… so happy I am will actually finish within the KAL time frame! Wow! Almost a first!!!!🤗
Loved this episode and your mom is a delight always. What a fun way to salvage yarn that was washed by accident. Lucy is a very stylish chicken. I have a similar issue with make alongs. I join them but often I don’t finish on time (insert squirrel or shiny new thing here) or I forget to post final pictures. Nevertheless I enjoy the process. Have a great couple of weeks.
Thank you Sharon- hope you enjoy a great weekend🤗
Indeed, I love the bling on Mom's chicken Lucy. She's soooo big.
lol😂😂❤️
Loved this visit with the both of you and seeing the blingy chicken! Emmie, when do you find time to knit? You're never sitting still! 😃🥰
So true Jacquie🥰
Hi Emmie: You’re looking marvellous. Can’t wait to shop til we drop at Fibres West!
You girls are fun! Linda, my parents' house is so hot too. I feel like I'm cooking from the inside whenever I visit them 😂
I always enjoy when your mom is on. I remember the first time, I think, was your mom and your sister. You mentioned then how old your mom was. If you dont mind, tell me again. I find her very motivating.
Glad you are sticking with your spinning. I am spinning on a cormo fleece. I already have 800 yds spun, plied and washed and another bobbin waiting for this one. Then I think I will have enough for a sweater. It is white so I would like to dye it as well.
Thanks again for your time to do the podcast.
I have mom’s permission to share.. she is 85 and still on Fire! lol- I will definitely pass on your comment/ very kind🤗. Wow… 800 yards of spun yarn… question… how do you know how much you have spun?. Definitely give dying a try… it is a lot of fun🥰
@@forthefunofknit5322 finally answering your question about how I know how many yards I have of my spinning yarn.
After I have plied my yarn and am ready to put it in a skien, I count the wraps on the skien winder. My skien winder is a two yard winder. Used to use a niddy noddy. After skiening it, I tie figure eights in 4 places, wash it and when ready to knit wind it into a ball. Hope that answered your question. Haven’t seen you for a while.
❤❤❤
So lovely to see you back Linda and wonderful to see your Mum, she is amazing 🧶
Granny squares…I am so in love with the Heirloom Quilt Cardigan by Katryn Seeburger.
Definitely in my favs👏👏
The Habitation Throw would be good for a Christmas blanket
So nice to see your Mom back. Seeing these Emotional Support Chickens on all the podcasts, so sweet, must make one soon. Happy knitting. 🤗
It is a fun, quick, knit if you need a change of momentum🥰
Lana Gatto is actually an Italian yarn brand.
You would think I would have figured that out … “Lana” means wool in Spanish…. Where was my brain -lol😂😂
Hi Emmy and Linda, so nice to see the two of you together again in a podcast. I loved hearing you telling both about your projects. And I am so happy to hear that you, Emmy, enjoy using the bag with the cross stitched tulips🥰, it was such a great pleasure to make the bags for you, Linda and Clasina.
Linda, miss you all too.😘 Hope to meet again.💕
So nice to see your mother again Linda! We never met but I love her as much as I love you!
Made the projectbag with love, I am so happy she likes it. 💕
Hi Loes- she LOVES your bag❤️. Uses it every day and it reminds her of the wonderful time we had visiting family and friends. 🥰
I donated my bucle yarn...just sayin'. Hated it. Good to see you and Mom. Thanks for another great podcast. All the best to you both.
Thank you for sharing Mary… nice to know I am not the only one- lol. Happy Crafting🥰

Thank you so much 😊
Great podcast thank you 🧶☕️😊
Wonderful to meet your mom. And see all the knits. Love your blanket yarns. I started an Anthology throw two years ago. Over 500 stitches per row. So it’s slow going . My sister and I are serial knitters. We are in the port Angeles, WA area. Maybe we’ll meet you at Flock this summer.
Love your podcast!! The Ariana cardigan from Savory knitting is a absolute great cardigan to crochet
Hi Carmen- thank you for the suggestion. that pattern is in my library and so plan to make one .👍
Hallo from Norway.🇳🇴So nice to You together Love it😍
So nice to have you watch from so far away! Have a great day🥰
It is delightful to see you back, and I have missed your mother. Lovely to see you both. Love the knits.
Thank you once again for such a lovely episode. So many beautiful projects. What a wonderful Mom! So happy to watch.
Thank you Heather🥰
A very lovely podcast with two lovely, inspiring ladies❤Thank you
Our pleasure!
Hi Linda and Emmie, It’s so nice to see you both together again. Love the Emotional Support Children. I also made three and I see more in my future since all my none knitting friends have requested one. So guess what they are getting for Christmas? Happy making!
We love our chickens! And you are an amazing friend to knit one for each friend- wow-happy crafting🤗
@@forthefunofknit5322 chickens works up faster than socks.
So nice to see you two together! Hugs from Deep South Texas!
Thank you Nancy- have a great week🤗
Hi Linda and Mom…so good to see you both and spend the morning binding off my vest (get knitting Linda!!) 😉 Also, I must say its wonderful to hear that Mom is busy living her best life! Love all your knits…especially that gorgeous Tamarind by Beth! Happy Knitting ladies 💜
Hi Kelly- thank you for watching ( and the kind comments on your last Knit Chat Cafe’❤️. Looking forward to seeing you next time you are out or…. At Flock????- 🥰
I LOVE YOUR MOM! She’s a sweetheart. My Dad had macular degeneration and had to have shots in his right eye. I would take him to his appointments and I almost passed out every time! But he was a champ.
Sounds like you were a champ as well. Fingers crossed the shots slow down the process. Thank you for watching🥰
Oh your Mom is so lovely! Ok back to watch!❤
First time seeing your podcast. Simply delightful. I am making the chicken too.
Hi Kate- so glad you enjoyed… now for the chicken… to “bling” or not to “bling”? Lol.
I love Sweet Georgia Yarn, but I have the same issue with two blue yarns I bought in 2020. I knit a rocket t and four years later, the blue is still washing out. So I think it could be the dye itself? Not sure. Your vest is going to be lovely. I hope I run into you at Fibres West. Great podcast, thanks.
Very fun to knit along with you Linda and with your lovely mother! You always seem so enthusiastic about life and particularly about your knitting which is so encouraging.
Thank you so much!
Lovely podcast today, Linda. Your mother is delightful. You can tell that she is living her best life which is probably why she looks so youthful! I am now inspired to make a Emotional Support Chicken for my daughter’s psychotherapy practice. Happy knitting to you both!
Hi Linda… sincerely hoping it is genetic!! LOL. We do have fun together. …. And you might end up knitting two chickens… they are a bit addictive🥰
I just found your channel because your episode 35 came up as a suggestion. So I’m going to go back to the beginning and start binge watching your videos. I’d love to know the name of the grey sweater that’s shown at the start of episode 35 in the intro that’s shown with Sweater no.14 from My Favourite Knits. I’m enjoying your videos, thank you.
@@carolinesimon270 Hi Caroline👋sweater is Turtle Dove by Espace Tricot (free pattern!) made with Drop Air❤️
@@forthefunofknit5322 Thank you for coming back to me, but it’s not that sweater. That one I saw was the very first grey sweater that comes up in your episode 35, it has cables on it. I’d love to make it, so I’m hoping you know it’s name💜
@@carolinesimon270 this is a mystery! The only other sweater I can think of is the one I am showing a picture of when I am describing my knitting journal… if this is the one it is called the Deschaine by Leila Raven.
Good to see your Mom, fyi my serger is from 1992 and also bought at Woodwards and it is working great.
We LOVED Woodwards!!! A bit biased as Mom worked there for 20 years… still miss that store- lol. Glad your machine is working- they just don’t make them like they used to🥰
@@forthefunofknit5322 my husband worked for Woodwards in Calgary from 1981 till it was sold to the Bay, and after that he stayed with the Bay till his retirement in 2003.so yes we are biased too
All points north yarn is from 100 mile house.
Thank you!..🤗
Maybe try Addi Turbo needles- they have blunt tips - I use them when knitting with splitty yarns and bet they would be good with boucle too.
Thank you for watching and for the suggestion- I have never used Addi brand so might be an option.🤗
Loved all the finished projects and wips of your Mother’s and of yours, in today’s podcast. I always Love seeing your Mom in your podcasts. She and I are about the same age, I think. I love seeing her projects and catching up with her life as well as yours. ( especially Lucy 😂😂). Already looking forward to your next podcast ! ❤️❤️
Your mom is a delight.
De hartelijke groeten uit nederland❤. Ranunculus trui met kortere mouwen, is dat een idee? I enjoy watching you two. Bye🙋♀️
A great idea Erna- thank you!🤗
I think all sweetgeorgia is the same. I knitted the flaxen silk fine and the same happened to me. I had to set it with vinegar
Thank you for sharing🥰
Your both so adorable, what a lovely podcast - thank you!
Great fun to se eyou with your mom on this podcast. RE: The navy yarn: was it indigo dyed? That would explain the leaching onto your hands -- not to mention the expense, simply because indigo dyeing is a specialty dyeing (natural dye). That said, I'm surprised the label didn't warn you ahead of time -- if indeed it was indigo dye. Blue and red dyes are the worst culprits for bleeding -- and in the blue dye realm, yes; it's indigo that is the most likely to bleed.
Hi Margaret… did not know that about “Indigo” but no- not dyed with indigo… I am finding grout this is a theme with this dyers process. I am going to reach out to them and ask their thoughts on how to best manage the run off.Thank you for watching🤗
First time visiting this podcast and just love it. It's great to see you and Linda together chatting about what you both love to do.
So good to see you and your Mom….and all your projects. Looking forward to Fibres West!
Us too! hope to see you there🤗
LisaR- Linda your Mom is a classic graceful beauty & a perfect co-host ❤ps - I think you'll
Need to dye up a few of those teal beauties for mom - she obviously loves it ;) Great color !
Working on it!!❤️
Lovely to see you both 🥰
I'm so sorry to hear that your mom has macular degeneration! I hope the treatment goes well!
Thank you and so far so good🤞🙏
What a fun podcast--so nice to see you and your mom. I pray Mom's eyes improve. She is pretty amazing!! I personally HATE boucle and will never knit with it!! Too hard to see the stitches. I can't believe you had so much dye come out of the Sweet Georgia yarn. Did you contact them? I'm working on a Moby Slipover, and it's going much slower than I had hoped! As for all your lovely Christmas yarn, Justine on Skein Scoop just made a beautiful Comfort Throw!! Your yarns would be so pretty in that. And, I just saw Ruby and Roses on The Knitting Place--it looks gorgeous!!
Thank you for all the good suggestions- I will definitely be contacting the dyer as a few folks have mentioned the same issue. The Moby looks like a complicated - yet beautiful!- pattern. It will be amazing when finished🥰
Lana Gatto is not a person - it's an Italian yarn brand that is quite old. They produce "industrial"-type yarns.
You would think I would have figured that out … “Lana” means wool in Spanish…. Where was my brain -lol😂😂
@@forthefunofknit5322 Yes, I know. I live in LaMancha.

Hi Helen!… thank you for watching🥰 mom knit the Ranunculus by Midori Hirose… available on Ravelry. Hope that helps🤗
Thanks Linda@@forthefunofknit5322
What happened to your icord blanket? I found it very interesting.
Thank you for watching and reminding me of that project - lol… it is still a WIP but stalled for now as I have run out of Christmas themed yarn scraps🥰
I would like to make the chicken but have read different comments about the pattern not being easy yo follow?
The pattern worked out for both mom and me but we did have to noodle the instructions a bit- not too bad- give it a try-very “huggable”.🤗
I do art
Do you use double pointed needles
Hi Michelle.. not usually… my preference is manic loop or 9”circulars🤗
