    I've watched your video and think I can do this now! Can you please tell me what the stitches are in order for the first 12? I kept trying to write them down and just keep getting confused.

      Chain multiples of 12 add 3
      Dc in 4th cabin from hook
      ****Decrease twice..
      *yarn over insert hook into next chain
      *yarn over pull through 2 & stop
      *yarn over pull through two. Yarn over pull through 3.
      Repeat for second decrease.
      Dc into next 3 chains
      Increase twice
      2dc into next chain
      Repeat for second increase.
      ****Dc into next 3 chains
      Repeat to the end
      2 dc in last chain.
      Chain 3 turn.
      Dc into same as chain 3.

    My granddaughter wants a double/queen size in 4 -5 row sections of 4 colors. She also wants a straight edge border all around. Would you know how many skeins I would need? If I have a total number, I can divide by 4 and add for the border.
    Do you have instructions for a border filling in the end rows to make a straight edge border?

    • @helmsfamily
      @helmsfamily  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi! I made one that fits a full/queen bed and used 12 skeins of Bernat blanket yarn. Good luck!

    Hi, I love this tutorial. If I wanted to make a baby blanket with either 72 or 84 stitches how many skeins of Bernat Blanket yarn do you think i would need?

    • @helmsfamily
      @helmsfamily  Před 2 lety +1

      Thank you Karen! I usually use 4 skeins of bernat for a 36 x 42" as an average. This pattern may take an extra one. I think for the BIG blanket I did I used 12 skeins but its close to a full size bed blanket. Hope this helps!

    How many multiple for a 50 wide? A written showing multiple for different sizes (baby, lap, afghan, twin etc is always helpful)

    • @helmsfamily
      @helmsfamily  Před rokem

      It would really vary depending on your yarn. I use the really thick Bernat yarn. If you are using thinner yarn you will need more per inch. This is a comment from another viewer that should help you. .... I went ahead and made a swatch with the 24st chain. With the Bernat Blanket it measured 12”. So I know when I start this I need the chain to be at least a 96st chain for roughly 50” wide.

    Does putting the two stitches at the end make the work fan out?

    • @helmsfamily
      @helmsfamily  Před 3 lety

      Hi! I do not have an issue with it fanning out. I have made several of this Chevron pattern.

    Can someone help me with my dilemma? I am making a blanket for my niece using this tutorial but I don’t know how many stitches I need to add to my starting chain after my multiples of 12. I did 7 multiples of 12 for a total of 84 stitches. Do I just add 3 to the end like in this video or do I need to add more?

    • @helmsfamily
      @helmsfamily  Před 3 lety

      Hi Julie. Sorry I haven't gotten back to you. Keep your multiples at 12 .. however many you want to do. Then just add 3 at the end. So you would have a foundation chain of 87 total in this case. Good luck! Come back and post a pic!

      Hi. I will see if I can figure out the count for you. I made a queen size but didn’t write down my total count. I’ll figure it out and let you know.

    • @helmsfamily
      @helmsfamily  Před 4 lety +1

      That’s basically what I did for mine. I did the sequence count and lay across the bed. Make sure you make the chevron shape when measuring.

      Thank you so much! It was posted so long ago I wasn’t sure you’d see my question. I went ahead and made a swatch with the 24st chain. With the Bernat Blanket it measured 12”. So I know when I start this I need the chain to be at least a 96st chain for roughly 50” wide. But doing that swatch made me much more comfortable doing this stitch! I couldn’t do this without people like you to follow so thanks again!
