  • If you have ever wanted a soft, snuggly, cosy crochet blanket then chenille yarn, velvet yarn or blanket yarns are the best! HOWEVER, they can be difficult yarns to work with so in this video, I will show you the BEST and EASIEST crochet stitch to use with these yarns. I will show you how to crochet between your stitches (so no struggling to find the tops!), how to carry your yarn up the sides to avoid excess shedding of yarn tails AND how to crochet around your finished blanket to prepare for any border you fancy!

Do you have a left handed version of this video? If you are left handed, you can convert ANY video on CZcams yourself! Simply go to www.mirrorthevideo.com/ and follow the instructions to mirror flip any video to convert to left handed!
How much yarn will I need? This is a very tricky question to answer as there are so many variables! How much yarn you need will depend on which yarn you choose, the thickness of that yarn, your tension and how large you want your finished project to be. I suggest making a small sample first so you can gauge how much yarn you'll need. If making a crochet square, you can weigh your finished square to work out how much yarn it used!
How many squares do I need for a blanket? That all depends on the size of the square you are making and how big you want your finished blanket to be! I always advise making one square first then measuring the size of it. From there you can work out how many squares you will need to get the blanket size you want 😀
Do you have the written pattern? Yes! I have written patterns to accompany my video tutorials on my website here: www.hookedbyrobin.com The written pattern is generally released a week or so after the video tutorial to ensure there are no errors in the video itself and to make amendments in the written version if any are found. All the written patterns are FREE to access on my website
How can I print the pattern from your website? Do you have downloadable PDF's? Not at this time no. This may change in the future but for now, I only provide the written pattern directly on my website.
Can you remake this video so it is slower? If the video speed is too fast, you can slow it down! 😀 See this video on exactly how: • How to Adjust the Spee...
Why do you use American stitch terminology? I learnt using USA stitch terms, long before I even knew there was a difference between UK & US terminology! American terms are my "first language" so to speak. If you need a conversion chart, I have one here! www.hookedbyrobin.com/crochet...

Hi Robin. As someone who used to crochet a lot many years ago, I got back into it after having Covid. I cannot tell you haw much I'm enjoying your videos, not just as a tool to help me get back int the rhythm of it, but also just to enjoy watching. Your videos have a somewhat ASMR quality that I find very relaxing. Thank you so much for taking the time to be so clear. I do have to say too, I am a tiny but jealous of your hook collection.

Hi Pagan, thank you so much for your wonderful comment.🥰 As for the hooks, I only started off with a few. The more you crochet, the more hooks and yarn you end up with.🫣😅

🙋‍♀️Hi Robin, I just want to say is. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, for your videos & free patterns.
I have been crocheting for some time now. Basically, blankets, slippers, hats, scarves, and dishcloths. Etc…
I do have problems reading patterns, so when there's a video explaining the pattern, it then makes sense to me. So again this 67-year-old Wife, Mother, Sister, Friend & Crocheter, Thanks you for your talented assistance.

I really appreciate this video. I purchased some chenille or velvet yarn because I thought it was gorgeous. However, when I tried to crochet with it, I nearly threw the yarn away! It has been in my closet for close to a year now, but thanks to your video, I will rescue it from the dark dungeon of yarns I gave up on. Wonderful explanation of everything to do and not to do with this type of yarn. Thank you!!

My first ever crochet project was your viral bee tutorial. That was over a year and a half ago.
A few months ago I decided I wanted so so badly to make my boyfriend a blanket and I bought this kind of yarn knowing he would love it. I followed another CZcams tutorial and had almost a meter of project done when I realised the sides were wavy and turned to one side. I decided to frog it and when I was ready to completely give up on this gift I came back to your channel and realised you have a whole video on exactly what I needed.
You are such a lifesaver Robin!! Thank you so much for being part of my crochet journey all the way through. Now I know to check your channel first! hahahaha.
