I love this blanket so much,thankyou Amanda🦄🧚🏼♀️
You’re very welcome! I’m glad you enjoyed this baby blanket! 😊🧶
I have done the chevron stitch before but usually use pastel colors for baby blankets. Love these color combos!
Thank you! 😊
13:48 Thank you so much! It was especially helpful to me when you pointed out that my increase should always be in the second and then the first double crochet of the “V’s”, and then I’ll know I’m still on the right track. That prevented a lot of errors as I learned. 😊😊😊
I’m so glad that helped! I know chevron patterns can be tricky, so I really wanted to point this out, so others can see exactly where to put their stitches 🧶
Thanks for this tutorial. It took me several tries to get it right, but I finally did. After completing 20 rows I can now identify if I've made a mistake each time I start a peak or valley. This keeps me from tearing out an entire row by addressing the issue sooner.
You’re very welcome! I’m glad you’re finding it easier to make the chevron. Definitely one of my favorites 😊

A thank you so much for making each step so very easy to follow!!!
You’re welcome!
Thanks so much for this tutorial. Your descriptions and Instructions are simple to follow which is great for a beginner like me! I now have a completed baby blanket in blue, cream and grey and it’s perfect!!!! I’m so proud of it and my new baby grandson is due in March 2022!! Ty again xxx
You're very welcome! I'm so happy to hear that you enjoy my tutorials and that my instructions are clear for beginners. Congrats on your new grandson!!
Just finished this as my first blanket project! (Typically I do amigurumi) I’ve attempted blankets before but never finished them. I got this one finished in about 3 weeks and made it a 40x40ish square. I did 7 thicker sections with 6 rows and did a thinner section between each thick sections with 3 rows. And added 13 chains in the beginning. It’s lovely and I can’t wait to gift it at a baby shower in February with a matching amigurumi dinosaur!
That’s awesome! I’m glad you enjoyed making this blanket! I’m sure it’ll be a big hit at the baby shower 😊
Great video Amanda...nice and simple and well taught. Thank you!
Thank you!
Thank you for this lovely, clear instruction.
You’re welcome 😊🧶
So pretty 💙
Thank you!
Your instructions and calming voice are very easy to follow. Just made my first ripple baby blanket in pink, linen, pink/brown variegated, off white, and green gremlin. It reminds me of succulents. Now I just need to find someone to give it to! Thanks !
Thank you!! That sounds like a very pretty blanket 😊
😊😊😊thank you so much for your time. I'm hoping to get my blanket done before my daughter has her baby . Your instructions are the best iv found and I enjoy listening to ur voice as its very calming . 😊
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I’m making it right now🥰💖
You’re welcome! Enjoy 😊🧶
Hobby Lobby " I love this yarn " is the best!!!!!
Agreed!
I bought this pattern in your Etsy shop. Working with the pattern & tutorial I was able to recognize certain stitches to fix problems earlier & earlier. It is by far the easiest pattern I’ve tried for a Chevron afghan. The other patterns went into a box. Thank you for the easy to understand pattern and the tutorial to go along!!
I am so happy to hear that this chevron pattern was easy for you to understand. I tried to go slow and make it easy to follow along as I know chevrons can be tricky. I just made another chevron blanket (Fall Throw Blanket) that I think you will enjoy as well. That's an even easier ripple blanket! Enjoy and thanks for your support :) :)
Thank you for your tutorial. You are the best teacher. I appreciate it so much.
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoy my tutorials!
Excellent tutorial! Thank you!
You’re welcome!
What a great tutorial. You teach beautifully. I can’t wait to try this pattern for myself. Thank you 🙏🏻

Thank you for this beautiful pattern! I am planning on making two baby blankets!
Thank you! I hope you enjoy it!
Thank you . a very easy to follow tutorial ..
I have started this for my charity babies blanket .
Mustard/ white & navy . It will be 1 of many .😊
Sounds very pretty! I’ve made so many of these blankets. I love them so much!
That’s my first time making this stitch
And I love it!!! 😊 thank you so much
You're welcome! I'm glad you enjoy it just as much as I do :)
Absolutely gorgeous blanket, I am just finishing my first blanket using steel, cream and minty blue aran yarn. It looks amazing. Thank you so much x
Thank you! Happy crocheting 🧶
Such an easy pattern to follow ❤ thank you!
You’re welcome 😊
Great video!!! Super helpful to show what stitch should lay above what stitch. Saved me some serious heartache!!!
Glad it helped! 😊😊
I love your videos they are so clear.
Thanks!
Thank you so much for this I really love the colours you have chosen for your blanket (glacier, white and grey mist) they look amazing together. I am going to make so many of these blankets in my favourite colours, thank you again 🥰🙂🙂

You’re welcome!
I have been searching for a new baby blanket for a baby girl. Thank You Amanda! I will be using pale baby pink and pale gray most likely Hobby Lobby!
That sounds pretty! A perfect combo, if I may suggest, is rosy cheeks and ivory from hobby lobby.

Thank you for your tutorial, I love this pattern. I've started a blanket using, 3 different shades of yellow and a white. I'm really pleased with how it's looking 👌
You're welcome! I'm glad you're enjoying this pattern. Your blanket sounds beautiful!
I just bought 4 skeins of that exact yarn!! ILTY glacier!!! I had no idea what I’m going to do with it, and then I stumbled on your video! I’ll be going to get the gray mist and white and do this pattern! Thank you so so much for this inspiration!!!! 🩵🤍🩶
You’re very welcome! I just love the glacier color. Happy to help with the crochet inspiration 😊
Just finished my first baby blanket using this video and it came out so good thanks to your video!! Thank you!!
That’s wonderful! I’m so glad to hear 😊😊
I love your stuff, thanks girl!!
I didn't answer, I love your color picks, but pink is my favorite
I greatly appreciate your recommendations on yarn, the rose is pretty.
I will get those now, thanks and take care!!
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed this tutorial and my color choices. Happy crocheting!
Very beautiful blanket. Love your pattern, the ones i was originally going to do had holes in the 'valleys' so I'm glad to find your pattern which will make the transitions look clean and seamless.
There are so many different versions of chevron blankets! I'm glad you enjoyed this version I shared. Happy crocheting!
I totally agree with the holes in the pointer chevron stitch! Crocheted one and didn’t like the holes in the valleys either! Thanks for sharing
I really appreciate you for taking the time to reply to all the comments! I love your tutorial btw! ❤️ I’m starting this today and hoping I can make it (in a slightly bigger size) for my mom when it’s her bday in September 😊🤓Summer is the perfect time to start crocheting to prepare for winter haha
Aw thank you so much! I think it’s important to try and respond to everyone I can. Your mom will love the blanket you’re making for her! And I agree, you have to start your winter projects early, especially if you’re making a lot of different items for gift giving 😊
I love it. My daughter ask me to make on for her baby June in June. Thank you so much. I followed along and made a swatch. Thanks again !!!
You’re welcome! Sounds like perfect timing for this blanket 😊
I loved it and i’m doing it !!! ♥️🥰
Wonderful!
Thanks for the pattern, was totally understandable. Colors of my blanket is pink, grey and white
I’m glad you enjoyed! Those colors are very pretty together🧶
this is a must do blanket, thank you, hope I remember it all
Thanks!
My wife said to tell you "thank you. You did a great job explaining the steps". Shalom
You're very welcome and glad she enjoyed!
Excellent instructions, thank you for the tutorial!
Glad it was helpful!
I’ve been watching your videos for awhile now not realizing I was not subscribed, so I’m now a new subbie, your explanation is so clear, I’ve tried this chevron/ripple and always missed a stitch, now I got it and I’m doing a blanket in shades of brown, can’t wait to finish this one.
Thanks for subscribing! I’m so glad to hear you’re enjoying this blanket. One of my favorites stitches ever!
Thank you for your pattern I heard about this pattern on Facebook and I really like how you explain it in good deal.
Thank you!!
Beautiful
Thank you!
Hi,
I bought your pattern on Etsy and I've been watching the video to help me out. It has been a great help. Thank you 😊
I’m so glad to hear 😊🧶
You made it look so easy thank you! I finally mastered my second crochet pattern :-)
Wonderful! Glad my tutorial helped :)
I'm making it now with 3 ply yarn and a 4.25 hook! I like it so far!
Wonderful!
Thank you so much for this easy to follow video. Your blanket looks beautiful. I plan on making a blanket using the colors gray, cream, and blue for my baby boy due in August.
You are so welcome! Congratulations!
Very good tutorial. This is the first time I'm doing a ripple. I do Irish knitting and crochet but this simple pattern was stumping me on the decreases. You made it easy to understand. I'm using brick red and gold and making a Winnie the Pooh color car seat cover.
Thank you so much! I'm glad you my tutorial helped you with the decreases. I'm sure your car seat cover will turn out adorable :)
Great tutorial! I completed several ombre scarves which look great with the wave-y pattern, and just finished a multicolor striped pastel baby blanket.
Great job! The chevron is such a fun pattern :)
Excellent pattern, and your teaching pace is wonderful. I love your videos. Keep them coming! Thank you!❤
Thank you so much! 😊
I am having a go with your pattern and using white and grey colours to start with
Hope you enjoy making this! 😊
I started this afghan tonight with Premier Puzzle in Tangram with a size K hook, and increased the size just a little. So far I am loving it. Super easy and think it will whip up quickly. I am planning to donate to Project Linus via Creative Grandma's channel.
That sounds wonderful! I love creative grandma’s channel as well. I’m sure your blanket is turning out great 😊🧶
so beautiful stating this soon
Thanks!
I have frogged my yarn for similar patterns three times, but seeing your tutorial made it all clear! Thank you! I’m making a blanket for my new great nephew.
Glad it was helpful! :)
Thanks for sharing i am making one now
Sounds great!
I have started this pattern in a mauve. I am doing 99 chain. I have done the 1st Row and now ready to start the 2nd Row. Thank You so much for Your Tutorial. I really appreciate it. ❤❤❤
You’re very welcome! Sounds like a very pretty blanket 😊🧶
Very cute! I’d like 👍🏼 to make it for the back of my couch. I’m thinking burgundy and white and gray
That sounds pretty!!
I did those exact colors! It looks very nice together!
@@thegrove29 Awesome!
Loved the colors you used. Did you use all 5 skiens of yarn or you were left with some ? And what is the weight of the yarn you used ?
Thanks! I did have some yarn leftover. The yarn I used is worsted weight #4 yarn.
Great work.....thanks once again for an awesome tutorial Amanda! Be safe!
Thank you and thanks for watching! Happy crocheting!
I am making this for a gift white, I have some blue like you have and pink I think thank you so much
You’re very welcome!
Thank you so much for pattern …have to share I ripped out and started over 4 times Kept skipping and/or adding stitches in “wrong” places…. 4 th go around I used those little stitch markers …made a huge difference,…found errors right away… love this pattern Special blanket for our first great grand son…..thanks again
You’re very welcome! Having stitch markers definitely helps as the chevron stitch can be a little tricky for beginner crocheters. Like you said, stitch markers helps you find mistakes quickly. Glad you enjoyed making this blanket for your first grandchild 😊
Thank you so much for making it so easy. Your wonderful. Could you please explain the shell stitch for me. My rows are always uneven. Thanks
You’re welcome! I actually have a video showing you how to make the shell stitch as well as a few shell patterns on my channel. You should check it out!
My advice. I used markers at every 12 stitches. I used the same color markers. On the last section, I use a different color marker. So I know where I am when I am working along. I also used a different color for the marker on the last plus 3. So i where to start the rows. I know it seems like alot to do. But it doesn't take long. And if there is a mis-count, I can count the sections. Instead of hundreds of stitches.
That’s an excellent idea to help beginners!
@@AmandaCrochets I am doing crochet a few years. I have marked my stitches after I kept loosing stitches. But with this pattern the count is so important! I do the same for my corner to corner too. I'm glad this tip will help others.
@@empressnkzoo I think it'll be very helpful! Thanks for sharing :)
Love this blanket Im making in 2 shades of pink with cream
Sounds beautiful!
I love this pattern and very easy to understand...thank you very much... am going to make one with a much thinner yarn will I need to increase the 3 double crochet in each stitch to maybe 6 or 9 before the increase and decrease...or should I just follow yours with 3.
That sounds great! The pattern repeat is 12+3. This means you will multiple any number by 12 to get your width. Once satisfied, you will add 3 chains to the very end to keep things in balance. As long as you follow this, you can use any weight yarn you'd like!
I really want to try this stich on my next baby blanket. I would love to see a pattern foe a zig zag stich if possible. Ty again
You should! It’s a lot of fun! What do you mean by zig zag stitch?
Thank you Amanda for this tutorial. I hope I finally get this pattern right, I've tried it a couple of times before but it didn't work out.
Will let you know how it turns out
You’re welcome! Keep at it as chevrons can be a little tricky at first. You got this!
I am following along as best I can but have yet to get it to work out correctly… trying again tomorrow …I can do this by goodness lol
This is so beautiful. I am making this blanket. It’s my first blanket. All cream. After many rows I went back and watch the tutorial again and I hadn’t been putting the two double crochets at the end of the row so my was wavy so I removed some rows. Is that why it was wider and wavy ? I’m an advanced beginner.
Thank you! Yes, chevrons can be tricky at first. It’s super important to make sure your stitches are in the proper places, otherwise your blanket will come out wavy. It’s possible you were adding extra stitches or maybe your tension was lose in some spots and tighter in others. This will even out over time. Keep at it! 😊
❤
hi i love this blanket and it's been fun to make! i'm having issues with it looking less wavy towards the top rows. have you experienced this and know what is the issue? i've gone back and made sure i followed the pattern, but not all rows end with the same [1dc in each 3 st].
Hello! I'm sorry to hear about your blanket becoming wavy. I haven't experienced this, but the only thing I can think of is that maybe your tension is a little more loose than it was at the start of your blanket. If it's really noticeable (or bothering you), you can always try going down a hook size to keep your tension the same. If it doesn't bother you, I would keep it as is as maybe washing it will help with the waviness. Hope that helps!
hi Amanda! Thank you for a very easy tutorial!! I just finished my blanket, but want to square it off for a border, do you have a tutorial for how to do that? The will be my go to pattern for all my baby blankets!
Hello! I'm so glad you enjoyed this pattern. It's one of my favs and go-to patterns as well. Yes I do have a tutorial for that. You can check out that video here: czcams.com/video/grJLV6xueg8/video.htmlsi=3gMuU8u8LcjAO0ab
I love this pattern and just finished it, but would love to know how to create the border. ❤️❤️
I'm glad you love this pattern! I did not make a border for this blanket. However, I do show you how to make an even border in this video if you're interested: czcams.com/video/grJLV6xueg8/video.html
Hi Amanda I am re learning how to crochet. I love your videos. I am wondering how many repeats of the pattern did you get to the end of the row? So that I can understand the pattern better as I am trying to write the pattern out to help me understand the process better. Thank you for your help. Joanne Bachynski
Hi Joanne, for my blanket I did 12x8=96 and added 3 more chains for a total of 99.
Loved your tutorial and I’m starting it tomorrow but I have a quick question how do you end the last row to make it look square ??
I have a separate video on how to straighten the edges. You can check it out here: czcams.com/video/grJLV6xueg8/video.html
I started this a few days ago and I am making it in the colors of the rainbow! I started with red and am now continuing with orange, then I think I will do yellow-green-blue-violet-blue-green-yellow-orange-red and then do a white border all around it. I bought a pretty thin yarn and I am working with a 3.5 hook, so this is going to take a while :D One row is exactly 1cm tall and I accidentally made this 110cm wide, so I need to do a lot of rows since I want it to be longer than it is wide
That sounds like such a pretty blanket! I love the idea of adding a white border to really make the colors pop. There are so many possibilities out there for color options!
hi my rows are also 1cm .... how many double crochet are u doing before each increase and decrease
@@marikoishida9729 I am doing the exact same as in this video, so 3 doubles before increases and decreases
@@niinariikonen4806 oh ok thank you ...was wondering if the waves would be too close
@@marikoishida9729 There should be 3 double crochet stitches in between the increase/decrease stitches.
Hi! I’m following this to make a neutral coloured blanked for my friends baby due at the end of November. I was wondering how you ‘weave in’ the end strands from each row when beginning a new colour? I’ve left a decent length for weaving in but not quite sure on how to do so. Hope you can help! Thanks!
Hello! To weave in your ends, you will take your tapestry needle and work in between the stitches. I usually go back and forth a few times to make sure it’s secure and hidden. Then you will snip off the excess. Hope that helps! 🧶🧶
Thank you so much for this great tutorial ✨
I just want to ask you can we use any size of skein ? Even if its thin ?
Hello, yes you can use any weight yarn you’d like!
Such a great tutorial! I’ve finished crocheting my baby blanket (which is my first finished project!). What do you do with the little strands of yarn left on the sides after adding in a new color? I hope this question makes sense. This is all I have left to finish off my project
Thank you, I'm so glad you enjoyed this tutorial! Congrats on finishing your first project! For the yarn ends, you will want to weave in your ends. I have a tutorial for that here: czcams.com/video/494pqpOgMt8/video.htmlsi=Z6X_qxHtxXjZQMbp
@@AmandaCrochets thank you!!
I love the color of the blankets that you have that's beautiful i have 2 boys grandsons baby's and 2 girls baby granddaughters i would like to learn how to do it if is not hard. Thanks
Thank you! When making a chevron blanket, the best thing to do is to count your stitches and work slowly. It might seem daunting at first, but as long as you count your stitches, you should be just fine! You can also use stitch markers if that helps! I'm sure your grandkids would love these blankets!
How wide is the one with a ch of 90 and how wide is it with 135 that you used on the twoyou did for the demo? I am learning and am so grateful for you taking the time to help us. Thank you. 💕
For the blanket with 99 chains, this ended up being 32 inches wide. For the 135 chains, it ended up being about 36 inches wide.
I find your pattern adoptable
Thanks!
Making a scrap blanket for my dog with this pattern. Thank you so much! For the 99 chain blanket, how many rows did you do?
I made a total of 54 rows for this blanket.
I loved making this blanket . I really would like to put a border on it . Could you please do a tutorial to show. Us how. To do a border.
I’m glad you loved this pattern! I’m pretty simple when it comes to borders. I usually just make a single crochet border around my projects. I also like the picot border. I have several patterns showing both of these 😊🧶
Thank you. It's a great explanation. It would be much easier to watch if the picture was in focus all the time. I found myself straining to figure out what stitch you were going into when the picture was out of focus. Just some constructive feedback :)
Glad it was helpful! My camera doesn't always like to focus for whatever reason, which can be annoying at times. I may have to switch cameras. Thanks for the feedback!
Do you think a variegated yarn would work between the two main colors?
Yes of course!
I have finished a blanket and absolutely love it!! But how do I close the ends where I have changed colors? First blanket I do and I don’t know enough to find the solution on my own :).
When you change colors, you want to weave in the ends. To do so, you will get a tapestry needle and go in between the stitches of the same color (white yarn with white, blue with blue, etc.). That way your yarn end doesn't show in your finished item. I usually go back and forth a few times to really secure the ends. I hope that helps!
My first row was perfect then did 3ch turned dc in first one with ch. then dc in next 3, dc2tog 4 together, dc in next 3, 2x dc in next 2, dc in next 3 all the way to the end.
But after my last dc2tog I’ve only got 2 stitches left to go into not 4.
No idea when I’ve gone wrong
Where you say the first increase should be in the 2nd part of the first one below mine was that all the way along so can’t make sense of it
For chevrons, basically you will mimic whatever you did in the first row. It's possible you missed a stitch in between somewhere on your second row. When you're doing your increase stitches, the increases should be in the two inner double crochets of the increase from the previous row. I hope that makes sense! Chevrons can be very tricky, so just be patient and remember to count those stitches.
Love this pattern but how is the best way to finish it? And then do you just tuck in the strings at the end?
To finish the blanket, you will weave in your ends with a tapestry needle. I usually go back and forth a few times to really secure it. Then I cut off the the yarn and you’re good to go.
What border do you think would work best for this blanket?
Monique Wendt you could try for a simple single crochet border.
I ended with the 2 decreases on row 1 instead of the 3 double crochet. For the last chain should I still increase? I'm using light 3 yarn and chained 123
It looks like you might have missed a stitch or two along the way. I would start over to make sure you get the count correct. Otherwise your blanket will be out of balance.
What makes this blanket modern? It seems pretty standard. Also easy and I'm going to try it. Liked and subbed.
I just named it modern as I thought the colors were something you would find in a modern farmhouse nursery. Thanks for subscribing 😊🧶
Good explanation! The colours are nice. And thanks for putting out this tutorial!
@@impunitythebagpuss Thank you!
Hi!!! I love your tutorial... working on a blanket now. But i have a question. After you've done the first row... can you not just do double crochet in every sritch after that? Just curious 🤔 👀
Hello! If you do not have the decrease sections and increase sections your pattern will not come out right.
At the end of every row should I end with 3 dc in the 3 stitches and then the 2 dc in the last stitch of each row and then turn? If I don't have that I have screwed something up?
At the end of each row, you will have 4 stitches left (after your decrease stitch). You will work 1dc in each of the 3 stitches and work 2dcs in the final stitch. Then you will chain 3 (counts as a dc) and will make 1dc in the very first stitch of the row. Hope that helps!
@@AmandaCrochets Thank you for the tutorial, I have gotten it figured out! It is working very well, I love the stitch!!!
@@annmariemoore225 oh I'm so happy it's working out for you! Happy crocheting!
Hello! Lovely video. What thickness is your yarn please? Is it DK?
Hi Tina! The yarn I used is a worsted weight #4 yarn.
I have finished the first six rows and notice the blanket so far does not lay quite flat. It has a slight ripple. Do you think this could be from the starting chain stitches being somewhat tighter than the following rows? Or something else?
This is such a good tutorial - thank you!
Yes, it’s possible that your tension is a little tighter. For the starting chain, you can always go up a hook size to make it a little more loose. Hopefully that does the trick 😉
Hi there, I wanted to know, if I wanted to crochet this beautiful afghan for an adult like a throw, how many chain do I need to do. I have 16 skeins of worsted weight yarn do you think it’s enough? Thanks happy Easter.
Hi Julie! I’d say that should be more than enough skeins of yarn! For a throw, you want to multiply any number by 12 to get your width. Then you will add 3 chains to the very end. Remember with chevrons the chain will shorten a bit as you’re increasing and decreasing rows. You could try either 135 chains or 147 chains and see if either of those widths work for you. You will crochet more rows to get a longer blanket. Hope this helps!
So I'm using a 4mm hook with Bernat softee baby yarn, what would you suggest I do to make the dimensions the same. I'm a beginner and not sure how this math works
You may need to double the amount of chains to get the same width as my blanket. You can always try it out by making a multiple of 12 (12 times any number) and add 3 chains to the very end. Hope that helps!
Do you have a video showing how to add a border to the straight sides?
No sorry I don’t. I just eyeball the stitches and try and make them as even as possible.
I really like this pattern but not a fan of the ch3 method , i prefer the alt turning chain to avoid gaps. So instead of ch3, I just do the alt in that first stitch and the 1st DC, so it still works and gives me my no gap edge!
I’ve never heard of that before, but if it works out better for you, that’s great!
@@AmandaCrochetsit makes such a difference on your edges, eliminates that gap, I use it all the time!
Amanda, I love your tutorials , but have a wish. When I watch all the tutorials on chevron or ripple , i would love for some one to mention how much space the chevrons take. If I measure my chain , I definitely can’t say that’s how wide my blanket will be. Hopefully you understand my meager explanation.
I understand what you’re saying. When making chevrons, your initial chain will look a little smaller as you have to remember the peaks and valleys of the chevron stitch. It’s best to make a chain a little longer than normal to get the width you like. For this particular blanket, each chevron measured from one peak to the next is 4 inches wide. Hope that helps!
