I would imagine there are only a handful of Bricklayers left that have this level of knowledge and ability. It would be an idea to give this man a book-deal because his knowledge needs to be fully recorded and documented so it can be passed on to future generations and not lost. It is said that to to get good at something requires ten thousand hours of practice but what this man produces requires a lifetime.

      Loads of them

@@northlondonmasons107 I agree with your comment.
Our craft skill of Bricklaying has been simplified and degraded over the last 50 years.
We used to have fully indentured Bricklayers serving a 5+ years apprenticeship, now its one or two years if your lucky.
The volumetric house-builders are partially responsible for this, with their square and rectangular box - style of house construction, containing and incorporating the cheapest and simplest design, materials, quality and price to the subbies.
Styles and designs change over time of course......but at the moment clients do not want to pay for detail -work, extensions are all about the thermal efficiency, and profiles (as useful as they are) have assisted this downward trend. "Speed + time = money." which trumps detail + quality = which of course costs money.
Lets hope its cyclical and it will come back around again.

I suggested to Mr Songer, several years ago that he should compile a craft skills book of Bricklaying, and I believe Rob, is (or maybe is) recording stuff in some detail to that end.
There are many excellent books already in existence which detail all of the intricate and detailed craft skills required of a Bricklayer, already in existence...
And certainly another book by Mr Songer, would be a very useful addition to the genre.

You would be surprised how many good bricklayers are out there. Probable a couple of hundred in the country or more that could do this standard of work.
It depends on how well you were trained and how much you chose to perfect your craft.
Remember that a lot of guys learned how to build a radius before laser levels.
This takes nothing away from Rob, he is in the top 1%.

@@brucetindal7399 Yes many years ago, i also have a CZcams Channel with some of my recent works, unfortunately not as complex as this but you can only do what is given to you. Most Bricklayers alive now who did an Apprenticeship in the 60s and 70s can do this work it really isnt rocket science. Problem is youngsters arent taught this anymore so to most people it seems like sorcery and it really isnt.
