- Hey guys! This video is an easy, step by step tutorial on how to make a tech-pack for apparel in Fashion Design.
I am using a basic graphic hoodie that I quickly put together, as an example in today's video.

Hey Nicolas! You’re very welcome! About Excel, the BOM can definitely be done on it. About Canva/ppt, I couldn’t say as I haven’t tried them. If you’re working in the industry, the standard software for design is almost always Adobe Illustrator itself. Hoping that helps!

Thank you for the tutorial.I wanna start freelancing service. I am having a doubt. What information should I ask for from my client in order to make a perfect tech pack. Is he going to provide me with sample garment measurements, cost sheet, fabric Type, color code etc?
Hello! That depends really. Some clients will have standard measurements, colors, fabrics, etc. that they will want you to follow. Others will not. If you’re the garment designer as well (which is most cases), you mostly will have to suggest/help decide things.

Hello! You could use other softwares but Illustrator is the fashion industry’s standard. Excel for example is used for certain tech pack sheets like BOMs and POMs but most of it is done on Adobe illustrator. Hoping that helps!

I was taught them in my undergrad degree + it comes with experience as a fashion designer.

Not too sure actually. You could try doing fashion design courses or internships at apparel brands to learn about garment construction.
