How is it possible that the most exciting sport that ran the show when I was growing up turned into this. Commentators sleeping on the job. You can have a OK event turn into an exciting tale about event just based off of the commentators energy. Riders don't want it anymore taka the OG is here for viewers. Man I've watched the x games every year since I was old enough to know what motocross was, there's been ups and downs but this event destroyed everything I loved about the sport. Covid or not this was trash.
I completely agree. 2 years later and the entire promotion is a shadow of its former self. I don't believe they're getting nearly the same amount of funding they were or someone in charge has completely drove it into the ground. It's not like these sports aren't popular either...
Pastrana, Twitch, Deegan And the godfather of freestyle Mike Metzger. The true spirit of freestyle cant die. The grungy punk aesthetic of the 90s needs to come back!!!!

I miss the Travis Pastrana days when freestyle was actually fast paced during the run. The riders would ride through each jump fast without losing that much speed. Gosh, this event as slowed down A LOT. This used to be my favorite event and now it's the most boring.
Fr it’s so much better in the stadium 75sec is not enough for this outdoor style

Yeah I liked Taka and Sheeny way more this event because they had the best flow through the course. Really don’t like how much slower this is, even the announcement crew seems bored.
At the end of the day, You should just appreciate the riders and the tricks they do risking there lives for there carers and all the people watching!
@@ecm4062 I appreciate it but still is bored lol... just wish they changed it back like how it was. At the end of the day FOR ME it's entertainment and I wasn't entertained. And those athletes chose to risk too put their lives on the line. I ain't forcing them 😄
Still can't believe double backflips are just a casual thing now in freestyle . Used to be a best trick contest winner . And Lucs run was just a series best trick winners back to back. Insane levels of progression.
Would have loved to see Taka get a metal. Him and Sheeny were the only two that felt good riding the course for two runs.

Freestyle is the most evolved sport ever!!!! It is so crazy what all of these riders are capable of now!! I remember when Ronnie Renner was able to win competitions with a whip lol!

3 runs, with the third run being 120 seconds. Alot more scoring weighted towards flow, creativity, intensity and use of course...bring back the golden age of fmx lol

LOVED IT - I miss the "old days" of these big open air courses with lots of options, makes each run UNIQUE, guys aren't all just riding the same line as each other just with different tricks.
Here's to a return to the big boy courses for a couple 'Games, but please give these guys more practice/warm up and a 3rd run!!! I LOVE the tech riding these big multi-option courses demand, but the guys are going to need more practice time to get it down than at the smaller arena courses.
Would have loved to see a home field advantage run to demonstrate the course.
Seems like Moto X needs an extra day of practice, and a 3rd run!
I think this could have been sooooo much better to watch with some more colourful commentary! Like let’s get pumped up!

My heart broke for ben on that first trick. full commitment and so close but didn't get a good rotation. Also need to say, its absolutely bonkers that a rock solid backflip is just another trick in a run now

Def did not feel like Xgames. Course was not set up for a competition. Bad flow, there were more crashes than clean Runs. No Fans however there are many Fans @ other sports 🤷🏻♂️

amazing flow, energy, skill and speed... the flips mind blowing... amazing sport
what a farce...such a great big course with so many options...but no intensity, no energy...bring back the days of pastrana and metzger when the guys just held it pegged hitting every jump possible. Creativity, flow and intensity should have been rewarded...Rob, Taka and Sheeny were by FAR the most enjoyable to watch here. It really should have been Rob 1, Sheeny 2 and Taka 3....everyone else just looked lost out there.

Anyone remember like 05-07 freestyle being quicker paced? I was like 6 or 7 watching Adams pastrana deegan all the og riders. Just feels a lot slower lol
The back and forth layout of the course made it hard to focus on anything else. This was more like rapid fire best trick runs than a complete freestyle run.
FMX has lost its amplitude, intensity and identity in the chase for technical perfection. I miss what fmx was.

Great event, thank you X Games and Monster energy 🙏👍 I don’t completely disagree with those saying this course was difficult and slowed things up, but I also was a huge fan of it. I think much, much more practice time could have helped to negate that a bit. They did the best they could and it was badass 🤷🏻♂️
Me being watching and riding early 2000s seeing these dudes do back flips, double and front flip and announcers like “nice..” I’m still mind blown on the stuff these guys can do that’s so normal now

a 2+ run format (2 and an option for a mulligan) might help with the nerves... and I'd agree that Taka's use of the course held true to the original spirit of the event (thoughtful line choice and continuity) and should've been rewarded.
I don’t know what it is, but this just has a different feel than back in the Pastrana and Metal Mulisha days. The tricks have progressed an insane amount which in theory should make it better, but it’s just missing that feel that the X-Games used to bring.

Feats of strength
Kinda boring slow pace for a contest .. fans or no fans .. I think the course is set up for practice and training .. not for competition so that’s why it’s so difficult to create any flow to the runs .. but even if it’s bad it’s still good .. always love to see this comp..

My favorite show to watch grew up on xgames started riding when i was 8 years old when i started watching the xgames i started jumping hills my inspiration in dirtbike riding and skateboarding.
