    Hi, I'm Native American. How does one judge HOW much money is entitled to WHOM and for how long? Our BIA is corrupt af and the systems put in place for "reconciliation" are always weighted in the House's favor. We'd be better off not ghettoizing widespread poverty into racial groups. We should fight poverty because it is right. The POC disproportionately affected by poverty would prefer long-term solutions, I assure you.

    • @friskydingooo7992
      @friskydingooo7992 Před 2 lety +10

      Reparations aren’t used for long term solutions, it’s used to give restitution for those people who were given nothing after slavery and were forced to live and create off of nothing and for generations were given nothing, fixing widespread poverty in 2021 would be separated because at this current point systemic racism is multi-faceted, also if your native American you should research your people first nation receiving reparations, they figured out how to judge and how much money was entitled and for how long..... It seems to me nobody has answers when it comes to black people but when it's native American, Jewish holocaust or Japanese internment camps people figure out the numbers

      After how terribly black and indigenous peoples have been (and continue to be) treated like absolute garbage, reparations would be impossible to tangibly determine & distribute. If not are people trying to pay off their guilt rather than make a real change? I'm not arguing against doing it (I'm not in the US in any case) I'm just thinking what would be the most effective way of making a difference because it might be something other countries could do.

    The money raised by the march goes to the Black Power Blueprint. Launched in 2017, the African Peoples Socialist Party (APSP) aims to return the majority-black North Side of St. Louis to its former economic, political and cultural vibrancy through self-sustaining economic development. They are transforming St. Louis north of the infamous Delmar Boulevard divide, where the population is 94 percent black and 35 percent of the residents live below the poverty line.
    They have demolished abandoned dilapidated buildings and built the Uhuru community center, a farmers market and garden, renovated a fourplex for the African Independence Workforce Program for prisoners re-entering the workforce. Other in-flight projects include a community kitchen and women’s wellness center.
    All this great progress in the last 3 years has accomplished with more than $300,000 in funds primarily from crowd-funding, webinars, Uhuru Pies and Uhuru Furniture sales, countless donors and in-kind services and contributions.
    The APSP has stated for the record they find it reprehensible that Callaghan would try to ridicule a historic march for white reparations to African people in order to fan the flames of white nationalist violence against the African community.

So how do we determine who has been affected by S.R. & how do you quantify that affect? BILLIONS have been put into "black communities", it just wasn't labeled "reparations"..
      There's 10000s of questions to be asked about it. What exactly defines a "black community"? Only black ppl? Or whole cities as long as it's majority black? Do black ppl that have moved to the US in the last 30yrs recieve these benefits? What if an African man moved here this year, is he approved for these benefits? What if a black family makes $200K/year, do they recieve these benefits? We need independent charities without rich establishment name attached to it to use the resources in the right way. The US bought new school books for Afghanistan last year but Detroit schools haven’t seen new books in years. Redistribution of wealth through social programs, housing support, healthcare and education funding for everyone, and particularly for low-income areas, is the very least that could be done imo. And that's not even addressing specific reparations aimed directly at people who are the decedents of slaves.
