Larissa, put your cat tower in front of the living room window or your bedroom window. Cats love sitting on their tower looking out the window. That way with the cat tower moved from its current spot you can put more shelves there. It's a win win. ❤
You could also get the extension for your shelves from ikea, which basically adds a shelf to the top so they’re floor to ceiling 😉

I hauled about 60 books the other day (they were all the ones from the publisher) - gave them to a local retirement village for their library.
I still have 9 book shelves though of books that I can't bear to part with - and I can now say I have gotten my Mum reading them too, so that's another reason to not get rid of the collection either as she hasn't got to half of them yet!!!

Honestly, your books piled on top of books in the beginning is one of the only relatable examples of a bookshelf I think I have seen on social media and it's how my bookshelves have always looked even though I am all about organization because I have never had all of the shelf space I need in my life. Give me a new shelf to put the excess books on and I will still somehow (perhaps thanks to ebay and their used books) end up with books on top of books. You know how some people rescue actual living creatures, a useful and good thing? I am like that but with books so it adds nothing good, really, to the world at all. All of my life, if I see books in the trash or at yard sales or if people say "I am throwing these out...." I can't let them go. I once owned over six hundred Harlequin romances from the 60's to the 90's. I read each one. I have always hated Harlequins. But this horny old chick my great aunt knew would give them to me, I took them to save them from the trash, and I can't have a book and not read it soooo...🤷♀️😂 I say all of that to say....I find it relatable to see books on top of books and I think that is the eternal struggle of the bookworm, to never really have enough space for all of your books.
