I would have liked to have seen a push stick so his thumb did not get so close to the blade.It is too easy to lose the end of one's fingers or worse!

Mine ended up just sliding down the wood, and won’t hop very well. Lol! Not sure how to get it to work consistently.
Maybe the wood it is sliding on is too smooth and also make sure the legs are moving freely. If they are still sliding then using a file scratch some lines on the bottom of the legs to create a better grip on the wood. That's all I can think of, hope it helps.

How do you keep the small files clear of wood dust? Great idea, which I hope to copy for my granddaughter
I don't use small files often but a hard brush should be enough to clear the files. Good luck with the build.

Length of kangaroo from tip of the nose to end of the tail 200mm, Height of the kangaroo from the bottom of the feet to the top of the back 185mm. I hope this helps.

No operator just the gravity that makes them hop, so they only hop on a downhill slope.

This is one of my older videos, I don't add background music anymore.
I made two of them. They were very unstable and would fall over before walking very far at all.?
All I can think of that the balance is not right. Make sure you cut and shape the legs at the same time and drill the hole going through the legs and the body at perfect 90 degrees. I think there is some help notes on the designers site, link in the description.
Hi. I just made my first one and had a similar problem. I cut out an extra pair of 'feet' from 9mm ply and glued them on the outside of the originals. The problem seems to be solved. I just noticed you posted this 2 years ago. I might be a bit late with an answer ...

use scroll saw NOT bandsaw
Bandsaw is the right choice. Scroll saw would work as well but the blade is too pliable and making even cuts across too difficult.
