After being stuck in a tutorial hell just trying to update my old laptop I finally came across the right video. And it's August 7th, 2024 and it still works
Upgraded on 12/14/23. All your steps worked. The Win 10 ISO Creation Tool worked. My activation key didn't carry over so I will be purchasing a new license, using the code MTT25. Just waiting on the key to be delivered. UPDATE: Got the digital key and added to computer. There was a problem Activating Windows because it said that I do not have a valid digital license or product key. Tried the Troubleshooting Activation and it keep going for 10 mins so I cancelled the process and restarted the computer. During the restart, there were Windows Updates that hadn't been completed, so it started the process to continuing applying the Updates. After reboot, the Windows Activation key got applied and my Windows 10 Pro is officially Activated. Thanks for the detailed help! I am a subscriber too!

It's august 2024, and 3 or 4 days ago (30/7/2024) I successfully upgraded from windows 7 pro to windows 10 pro BUT the license key wasn't working in windows 10 (as said in the pinned comment), and calling microsoft support, he said I had to buy a new licence. But, the upgrade itself was successfull thank you very much!

Thanks, this worked on 18 February 2024, When my hard drive gave up, I started with a new windows 7 Premium installation, I already had the Disc Plus original code numbers and worked my way through the video instructions, Only problem at the windows 10 installation stage was it didn't let keep anything, so I unticked the box, this was the only way the windows 10 would run and finish, But it didn't matter as I didn't have anything anyway, Thank you Very much, Great video instruction !!, Appreciated !!, Cheers

Sorry, but if that keeps happening, I don't have a fix other than you will need to do a fresh install of Windows 10, you won't be able to do the upgrade from 7 to 10.

As of 5/25 this link for the download still works. Had to redo cause my son messed his pc up and had to reinstall. Hadnt gotten to the install yet. but the DL did work! I will be putting this on a back up CD and never getting rid of again. TYVM!!!

I upgraded win7 ultimate to win10. No problems at all. Make sure you download your local language of win10, as shown in your Regions-languages settings. You can still change display language to English once the update is finished.

Hi. Were you able to upgrade your windows? No, I did not purchase key from whokeys. I followed and confirmed the steps showing my windows 7 was activated with activation key. From there, I followed the entire steps excluding downloading chrome browser, and the media tool section did not work for me. I literally followed the step by step instruction. I am not tech savvy and very thanksful for this tutorial. The laptop I upgraded for windows 10 was required to continue browsing on chrome and having access to certain accounts which required windows 10 and nothing lower. Hello; great tip, and still working today, April 1st 2024- (no fool's day joke) I was soooo reluctant & nervous scared of losing data, connections, programs and what have you's... It still works flawlessly, took a couple of hours to do all the download & update dance, and.. voilà; all set, upgraded from W7 Pro64 to W10Pro-64- Of course, you'll need to download and update your hardware drivers (display/mouse/Lan/Wan stuff to be fully "up to date", but it works right away.
I skipped a step and used the media creation tool to install because it was working, but now that windows 10 is installed it didn't convert my windows 7 Product license code, and I didn't save it. What do I do now? Thanks,
You can purchase a cheap Windows 10 license with the link in the description and then activate Windows 10. Unfortunately, it seems that Microsoft has now stopped converting the Windows 7 & 8 licenses to Windows 10 licenses like I mentioned in the video, but for me it was still working when I recorded the video.

Just took a windows 7 pro laptop and turned it into an 10 pro. That's two for two, thank you sir. Looking forward to trying the next leg up (or down depending on one's perspective...lol), which is moving to 11 pro on a non-compliant computer (i.e. no secure boot option). NOT WORKING 24/07/01 Was able to use windows media installer. Everything appears to work and install including updates. When windows installs and reboots for the first time an error appears. LinkID=528892. Will try and install using ISO.

Hello sir! i updated my pc from windows 7 to 10 on 10/05/24 thanks it still works but my pc has slowed down a lot (even though a lot of storage space is left), it hangs after every single prompt also my wifi speed had decreased. So after a few days i decided to get it back to windows 7. But now came the main issue. On Windows 10 your PC will be slow if you don't have Windows installed on an SSD, if you still have an old conventional Hard Drive, think about replacing it with a Solid State Drive (SSD). 2. The Windows 7 installation doesn't have your Product Key anymore, you should have it somewhere on your computer, you can just enter it again and it should activate. 3. The PC settings changing after you shut down, I'm not sure about that one, sorry...

I just followed your video completely and I was able to upgrade from Windows 7 to 10, however the activation is no longer there and microsoft is wanting me to spend $249 to activate it. Can i just leave it unactivated or will it become problematic?

Look, it's not really "problematic", you just won't have access to some personalization settings and you'll get an "Activate Windows" watermark at the bottom right of your screen, but the best thing is to get Windows 10 activated legally. I updated all the Win7 updates, performed all the steps on this page, changed my browser to BB10, downloaded, unzipped, and ran setup. Windows starts the upgrade, gathers updates, switches to a blue screen "installing windows 10", gets to 38%, then kicks back to Win7 and displays a message box "Windows 10 installation has failed" (OK) button only. No error code or reason. Windows 7 is activated, has an OEM windows key. Antivirus is uninstalled, drive has 286GB free space, computer meets all win10 requirements. Been trying to upgrade to win10 for more than a week now, maybe 25 times. Trying different things each time. Any suggestions are welcome, Thanks, Robert
Hey man, I wish I could help and I have also encountered similar issues before. Unfortunately, in all those cases I had to do a clean install of Windows 10, it was impossible for me to perform the upgrade from 7 to 10.
I got this error right at the middle of upgrading "The system registry contains invalid file paths. Installation cannot proceed. This system image was applied without guaranteeing that drive-letter assignment would match across computers." Would you pls help
I haven't seen that before, did it reverse the upgrade? If so, try and use a program like CCleaner to clean the registry on Windows 7 and then try upgrading again.

Does anyone know if this works if your Windows 7 is activated with a generic product key? because this isn't working for me as of August 11 2024 and maybe that's the problem. When I look at computer>properties it says Windows is activated, but when I try to upgrade Windows I get the prompt asking me to enter a product key that shows up when your Windows isn't activated. If I then enter a generic Windows 10 key then it lets me install Windows 10 but without keeping my files.
I was installing windows 10 but when the process was about to end it showed this message. Why? We couldn't install Windows 10 0x8007001F - 0x20006 The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during REPLICATE_OC operation.

Unfortunately, it seems that Microsoft has now stopped converting the Windows 7 & 8 licenses to Windows 10 licenses like I mentioned in the video, but for me it was still working when I recorded the video.

02/03/2024 Did this guide from windows 7 home worked perfect, was having the date/time error code before but the bypass worked fine also used the English international version and no issues

Was able to use windows media installer. Everything appears to work and install including updates. When windows installs and reboots for the first time an error appears. LinkID=528892. Will try and install using ISO.

Hello sir! i updated my pc from windows 7 to 10 on 10/05/24 thanks it still works but my pc has slowed down a lot (even though a lot of storage space is left), it hangs after every single prompt also my wifi speed had decreased.
So after a few days i decided to get it back to windows 7. But now came the main issue. My pc is showing a message that says, "Your windows is not genuine and you might be a victim of software counterfeiting." Im terrified after this message. Can you please help me out with this sir.
Also any settings i have changed goes back to normal after i shut my pc down.

Hi there;
1. On Windows 10 your PC will be slow if you don't have Windows installed on an SSD, if you still have an old conventional Hard Drive, think about replacing it with a Solid State Drive (SSD).
2. The Windows 7 installation doesn't have your Product Key anymore, you should have it somewhere on your computer, you can just enter it again and it should activate.
3. The PC settings changing after you shut down, I'm not sure about that one, sorry...

I just followed your video completely and I was able to upgrade from Windows 7 to 10, however the activation is no longer there and microsoft is wanting me to spend $249 to activate it. Can i just leave it unactivated or will it become problematic?
I'm glad to hear that the upgrade worked for you! Look, it's not really "problematic", you just won't have access to some personalization settings and you'll get an "Activate Windows" watermark at the bottom right of your screen, but the best thing is to get Windows 10 activated legally.
You can check out this video where I explain how you can purchase a legal Windows 10 Key for cheap which you can use to activate your copy of Windows.

I updated all the Win7 updates, performed all the steps on this page, changed my browser to BB10, downloaded, unzipped, and ran setup. Windows starts the upgrade, gathers updates, switches to a blue screen "installing windows 10", gets to 38%, then kicks back to Win7 and displays a message box "Windows 10 installation has failed" (OK) button only. No error code or reason. Windows 7 is activated, has an OEM windows key. Antivirus is uninstalled, drive has 286GB free space, computer meets all win10 requirements. Been trying to upgrade to win10 for more than a week now, maybe 25 times. Trying different things each time.
Any suggestions are welcome,

Hey man, I wish I could help and I have also encountered similar issues before. Unfortunately, in all those cases I had to do a clean install of Windows 10, it was impossible for me to perform the upgrade from 7 to 10.

I got this error right at the middle of upgrading

I haven't seen that before, did it reverse the upgrade? If so, try and use a program like CCleaner to clean the registry on Windows 7 and then try upgrading again.

That's unfortunate, in that case you will need to do a clean install of Windows 10, the upgrade won't work.

Still works June 18, 2024!!! It does take a long time, and be prepared for a lot of scary black screens that appears nothing is happening. Just takes along time. Run it, and walk away from it all day long.

Never heard of that issue before, you might have a hardware issue. You can try and use system restore to undo the changes.

@@dakshkumar7789 Yo i found out how to fix it. You have to have 20gb of free storage in your main hard drive to be able to install the updates. Hope this helps!

Does anyone know if this works if your Windows 7 is activated with a generic product key? because this isn't working for me as of August 11 2024 and maybe that's the problem. When I look at computer>properties it says Windows is activated, but when I try to upgrade Windows I get the prompt asking me to enter a product key that shows up when your Windows isn't activated. If I then enter a generic Windows 10 key then it lets me install Windows 10 but without keeping my files.
I was installing windows 10 but when the process was about to end it showed this message. Why?
