    This was actually super helpful. I've been watching videos on properly downshifting for like 3 days, and just practicing in my neighborhood (I have my permit in 4 days, also riding an R3). I've seen videos from some of the top Moto channels, and they seem to just say "pull clutch and blip" about 30 times before ending the video. I appreciate you explaining the "If I'm at 5K RPM, I'm gonna blip to 6K RPM" type shit. That helped a ton. Thanks for the video!

    Clutch, press down gear, rev, release clutch? Do you do it all at the exact same time or do you need to do it in a certain order? And how do you know if your revving to much or to little :/ a lot of questions.

    When exactly is the timing of the blip supposed to be? I understand the concept of rev matching, but I don't get if it's supposed to be done right before, during, or after your downshift. Additionally at what stage of the clutch am I supposed to be doing it? When the clutch is completely disengaged or as I'm releasing it?

      Simultaneously when you pull ur clutch, u blip and at the same time u step down ur shifter. 3 actions literally at the same time when u wanna down shift

      @@fungzian8939this right here. All you’re really doing when you rev match is matching the rpm to what it would be if you didn’t rev match and downshifted if that makes sense. Ex if you downshift without rev match, which you can do to see for yourself, you’ll notice the bike will go up in rpm and you’ll feel harder engine braking. Where as when you do rev match the rpm is already there. It’s all really just a feel thing so just go try it out and practice. You won’t damage your bike.

    @2:20 i got a question? Im confused when you’re in 1st goin to second and you rev match does the bike accelerate or is only the rpms that go up when you’re holding the clutch

    • @FullSendMiles
      @FullSendMiles  Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@steadyplotting when your holding in the clutch it’s only the rpm’s that go up not your speed

    How did you make it from 4th gear to Neutral so fast @ 8:14?

    • @FullSendMiles
      @FullSendMiles  Před rokem +2

      I just held the clutch and pressed down on the shifter, neutral is easy to find on this bike, I can find it right away

      @FullSendMiles  Před rokem +1

      @@mandypal9231no, so when I was coming to the stop I just put the bike in neutral and you don’t have to rev match into neutral, the bike is basically just idling

    I’m learning to rev match but I have a 150 and so it jerks quite a bit so I’ve tried to break a bit before I rev match so it’s more smooth but is that what you’re supposed to do or should I engine break??

    • @FullSendMiles
      @FullSendMiles  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Yea your supposed to rev match when you down shift and to get it smoother just takes practice

  • @xeriay

    I understand the concept and i can do it sometimes but not that consistent but i was wondering when i shift down i blip up and when i shift up i blip down right?

    Does rev match damage the engine? I mean does it reduce the longevity of the engine.

      No, not rev matching can actually hurt your engine and transmission
