Additional tips:
1. Avoid short-sleeved shirts (they somehow make the midsection look bigger)
2. Wear overshirts or jackets with breast pockets to add more focus and bulk on that area
Any other tips you have?
Comment below and let's help each other out.
Wide hip gang checking in! Totally agree with all your tips. Distraction is key! I have found that with working out especially with my shoulders, back and chest widening it took the attention away more from my waist which is great.
Thank you :)
Great point. Adding 2-5 inches to the shoulders and taking the same off the hips should be possible within 1-3 years of training, I think.
As a teenager with a larger hip/buttock-area but a narrow waist my tips are:
Use larger sized hoodies and sweaters, but not overly loose and big. They need to be of a reasonably thick and sturdy fabric so that the shoulders seem more protruded, instead of having it hanging on your shoulders like a rag.
Use shorter sized t-shirts
Roll up sleeves when possible
Try avoiding tucking your shirt in your pants if possible
Great tips :) Thanks for adding to the list 💪
Great video Lukas. Thank you for sharing and putting yourself out there. Some really useful and practical tips - some I hadn't considered before.
Thank you :) Glad it was helpful
This is awesome. I'm so glad for finding this.
Thank you :) Glad you liked it.
1.Try drop shoulder shirts/t shirts (like in the 90s). They have a tendency to bulk up the upper part visually.
2. Don't be obsessed with slim fits
2. What about lower half of body? There should be sufficient volume of cloth in the knee region . i.e Avoid tapering from hips to knee. Tapering exaggerates the hip width and is feminine. Try Regular/ Straight fits
You can Check out for Armani trousers
Thanks for adding more tips :)
All very good suggestions 👌
Thanks for your thoughts. I think the one item that hides physical flaws best is the two-bottom blazer (on the longer side), it is super versatile and flatters pretty much any man.
Thanks for watching.
Totally agree on that 👌
It's a truly meaningful topic that is rarely mentioned, keep it up!
Thank you for watching.
I'm glad it was helpful :)
That was a great example of the pockets which stick out. It really makes a difference
Thank you :) I try to avoid those types of trousers now
Btw, you looked the best with a jacket on, in my opinion @@Lukas_Schanderl
Thank you :) Yes, the jacket seems to make the biggest difference.
Yes! This was really helpful, seeing both postive and negative examples - it's something I've talked with a stylist about, but without seeing specific examples it's always hard to imgine the difference. This was a really helpful video.
Thank you, Myles.
Glad it was helpful 🙌
This is so helpful I have to comment again. Thank you so much
Ha thank you man :)
I appreciate it 🙏
Thank you, sir! This has really helped me out. I notice that when I am wearing a Denim Jacket in a classic dark wash (with for example a navy pique polo underneath), it really hides my wider hipbones incredibly well! Even to the point that my wider hips are not (or barely) noticeable at all. All the best, - C
Thanks for watching :) Glad it was helpful.
That's awesome. Thanks for sharing.
Great tips. You look best in the dark suit. It doesn't just conceal your hips it makes you look great. I have recently discovered wearing loose linen shirts is good for creating more upper body volume. Looks great with shorts too as the loose drape hides the hips. I don't wear t-shirts. Instead I prefer collared shirts and polos because it directs more fabric towards the upper part of your body. Apart from jeans I avoid flat front trousers. When you have a wider frontage it's too much real estate if there's no break. One single pleat is best to offset the wide apron. Two pleats for heavier built men. Avoid cuffing your trousers if you are short.
I've also found that I should avoid elastic waistbands because the bunching creates more volume. And if you can find thinner pants with side adjustable tabs rather than wearing a belt. But it would even be better if there was pants which have a back adjustable tab. Next thing I'm trying is building up my shoulders. Swimming and rowing would definitely get you a better upper body presence. But try to bulk up your chest and shoulders rather than just lose weight because if you lose upper body mass then you will look even more pear shape. Also avoid lower body exercises like cycling because it builds up your thighs and you definitely don't want big hips as well as big thighs. Posture is most important because you want to have the widest part of your body to be your shoulders. If you don't stand up straight and slouch your shoulders then the clothes will hang like a limp curtain. Having wider flat shoulders as possible is going to create the best drape. Also losing as much belly fat as possible is important. Obviously need an improved diet, intermittent fasting and lots of cardio activity. Brisk walk 20 minutes a day. Take up boxing as it also builds upper body strength, reflexes and coordination. Then even if you get teased about your body you can at least defend yourself!
Thank you. I agree, the suit is the ultimate option in this case.
Where do you buy your linen shirts?
I totally agree. I only own 2 t shirts, the rest are all polo shirts and linen/dress shirts. Looks better and like you said, it draws the eye to the upper body.
Thanks for your tips. I am sure other people reading the comments will also appreciate it 👌
Thank you! These are all so useful. I’ve lost quite a lot of weight recently but it’s drawn a lot of attention towards my hips as a result. There’s such little content talking about hip dips in men so finding this kind of video is really so useful ❤️
Thank you, Lucas.
Glad it was helpful and congrats on your weightloss 💪
Great advice!
Thank you 🙌
Title I was looking for ❤
Thank you, Sheldon :) Glad it was helpful.
great video!!
Thank you :)
Wow, so true!
Thank you :)
great video.
Thank you :)
Wish I watched this earlier. I've denied the fact I have wide hips and just buy bigger clothes. These tips make total sense and explain why I don't look good in some outfits. Great video.
Thank you, Steve. Glad it was helpful 🙏
This is the first time I have found someone online with my shape, however I am about a stone heavier... Great video thanks
Thanks, Michael. Glad it was helpful.
I had to look up how much a stone is in kg :D
Cheers from Germany
Thank you ❤
Thank you :)
Even i am a wide hip guy .. one tip which will work is to work out...back work out which will increase ur wide from the top so it will look good just try back and shoulder work out build a good body
I agree :)
That's going to help the most in the long-run.
Another tip, getting tailored clothes helped me since the muffontop look makes it worse.
I agree.
It's difficult to avoid the muffintop with wide hips 😅
Accepting who you are includes learning to maximize/minimize them so you look good :). My issue is my belly, not my hips, but I've learned to accept who I am (and yes, to keep working on my health and fitness, but not to be upset at myself that I have a dad belly in my 50s), and to find clothes that help me feel that I look good.
Totally agree, Simon.
We probably all have some areas that we would like to improve, and there is nothing wrong with doing so while also accepting who we are :)
@@Lukas_Schanderl Exactly! Dress for the body you have, while working to get the body you want :). At least, where the body you want can be achieved by work!
I agree 100%. I need to start training more as well :D
@@Lukas_Schanderl you and me both!
Great vid although I really can't relate since my hips are so slim XD
That's great for dressing then :D
Thanks for watching, Nicklas.
I really didn’t think your hips were that wide lol but this video was amazing and gave some awesome tips
Thank you, Daniel. Glad it was helpful.
Ha maybe it's mostly in my own mind 😅
3:18 What if some company were to make shirtsleeve forearms in a lighter color than the rest of the shirt?
Thanks for watching.
Hm that's a good question.
I would say it depends a bit on how much of a contrast there is.
It can work but it can also look a bit too intense.
What about shorts and jeans? i have very hard time find either of them
I found some nice ones at Spier & Mackay.
High-rise and a decent price on sale
Never delete this video
Thank you :) I'm planning to keep it up
Wearing leisure suits with shoulders gives the illusion of a wider shoulders too . Or Why not work out the upper body or bulk up the upper body?
Working on the upper body is definitely the most effective solution, but it does require more time, and even then, the tips will be helpful.
But it's definitely the long term plan :)
I'm a bit obese with big waist (110 cm), small shoulder, and small feet (25 cm).
Chunky shoes & jacket are my best friends, they really help to balance my proportion.
Thanks for watching :)
Great points. What types of shoes do you wear? Mostly boots?
@@Lukas_Schanderl mostly high rise boots since i work outside, visiting shops and farms by motorcycle
Those are the best :)
You have the same body shape as I have
I hope the video was helpful then :)
Wont working out work as well? Or is one domed?
It definitely helps the most and I encourage everyone to do so :)
But it does take time.
Combining fitness and the other tips is the best way to go :)
name of the brand is ? soory cant understand 😂🤘
Thanks for watching :)
The brands I mention in the video I think are:
- Spier & Mackay
- Charles Tyrwhitt
- Hockerty
Well this is helpful. I inherited my mom's genes and I have a big butt that my girlfriend loves but I hate to death. I basically have to buy bigger pants just because of my big thighs and butt. It's annoying, and these tips are gonna be in my head the next time I go out to buy clothes.
Now, I have a doubt. Do you think that a Perfecto jacket would look good on people like us?
Thank you :) Glad it was helpful.
I know how you feel 😅
Good question. I think if it's one of the shorter versions, it probably won't look that nice but a longer version could look pretty good.
In this case it would be best to try it on first in person.
If you get stuck with a pants that flair in the hips, a good tailor is your best friend!
Great point :)
Klinefelter?
What's that?

I'm in-shape but have wide hips and it makes me look fat in clothing. Since my hips are as wide as my chest, I look like SpongeBob. I hate it here. 😢
I know how you feel, Joe.
The only clothing item I found that works wonders is a well-fitted suit, everything else helps a bit but a good suit can make all the difference.
I feel you man. I started working out with the goal of reducing my hips and abdomen. I have put on decent upper body muscle and legs are much better too but somehow the hips still stand out and it makes me very self conscious.
.
We can deal with this but bro , what about our future. No girl will marry us. Because they want a good physique.and wide hips are worst
Thanks for watching, bro.
Don't worry about that.
Even though physical looks matter to an extent, especially for a long-term partner, character and compatibility is much more important.
One of the most important things is confidence. I've seen lots of "unattractive" guys with beautiful women, mainly due to their confidence and fun character.
We can and should do our best in the gym to build a good physique, but in the end, it's not what matters most to meet and marry the right woman.
Keep your head up brother 🙏
@@Lukas_Schanderl yes Bro, yesterday I saw Greek gods even have wide hips. If we do gym we can get Greek God structure. Which is rare
