Photography at St. Michael's Mount & State of the Vlog Address

  • On the photography vlog today I got up for sunrise at St. Michael's Mount, and then gave a state of the vlog address.
For my photography, check out my instagram: @brendanvanson.
St. Michael's Mount was one of the places I really wanted to shoot in Cornwall. It seems like the perfect travel photography location. And, honestly, I hadn't even heard about it before doing some research recently. It doesn't even really look like England. And, that's pretty cool.
Cornwall is just full of cool photography locations, and I actually would love to spend a proper couple weeks here shooting. But, I had pretty limited time.
So, sunrise photography at St. Michael's Mount actually had to be pretty quick. I didn't get great sunrise light, but I did get nice light during the blue hour so that definitely made up for the lack of colour during the day. Also, it made the photography more difficult because St. Michael's Mount actually wasn't lit up. But, I made due.
The classic photography at St. Michael's Mount is of the walkway that leads into the island. And, so I shot that first. Then, I moved on to try to creat a different and unique image.
After my photo shoot, I had to make my way out of Cornwall and drive all the way back to Kent. It's @alajode's going away party, and so I didn't want to miss that.
My state of the vlog address followed the next day as I let you know the future of this travel photography vlog and where I'm going both as a photography channel and geographically in my travels.
Tomorrow on the photography vlog, I head towards Asia!

I've often wondered about your traveling alone for so long. I've done that and it's difficult! I'm truly happy that Jodie is joining you on your path to help you be happier (not that you don't seem happy) than I've seen you in quite awhile. Take care and enjoy your journeys with Jodie and your profession as you've chosen. It should be much better now!

Thanks, enjoyed all three of the series. I've charged my batteries, grabbing the camera and driving to Bedruthan Steps tomorrow. It's 40 minutes drive so I have no reason not too, just wished I had done so before seeing your video. Glad you have seen the propper England.

Awesome video Brendan and thanks for the feature at the end of the video mate. I take a similar approach to popular photography locations, get the iconic shot in the bag first up and then move on to discover all the other cool compositions the location has to offer. Remember if you over shoot Malaysia and make it down to Oz, let us know and we can organise to meet up! 👍

Hi Brendan, I hope you didn't mind when I saw you inside a van in Reykjavik on the last day when you and Jeff were driving your participants to the airport and I was waving at you like crazy through the window and you must have thought - what an idiot! I was just very excited to see in outside of the screen :)) Have a great time in Thailand and I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun shooting for your own project. I'm looking forward to these videos very much, Thailand is one of my favorite destinations. Cheers!

+Jan Miřacký hahaha. That was hilarious! I didnt recognize you at first. Good spot. Shows how small a place Reykjavic is haha

    •  Před 6 lety

Haha! It was a good coincidence. I was a van and somehow people inside looked like photographers, can't explain how. And from the back of the car, I saw that a guy on the passenger's seat wear a cap… Come on, now many people wear a cap in Iceland and drive a van full of photographers :)) So I needed to speed up and have a look and yeah, it was you guys. Too bad I wasn't going to the airport and couldn't say hi in a more humane way.

I appreciate the beautiful locations you take us on and your hard work... I wish I had just a bit of your commitment...but in my opinion...stick to vlogs and cinematography. Your videos are more intriguing. Plus I understand the income potential as a youtuber... every penny counts. Again thanks for your video skills and sharing yourself. Your still cool!
