I am 4 mins in and this is the exact journey I have taken. I am currently pricing out a build with a CMMG BCG
I used to trust Aero Precision and their products much more before I built their EPC-9. Why? Because I have a very abundant supply of 9mm JHP ammo, due to my current occupation, I figured it made sense to have a PCC. Because I’ve always done well with Aero products, in 5.56 & .308, I was excited for their EPC-9. After assembling it I took it to the range to shoot it and that’s when the problems arose. Unbeknownst to me, Aero never said a word in their marketing, the barrels are designed WITHOUT a proper feed cone channel. This matters because without a wide feed cone channel these barrels will not dependably feed and fire anything but FMJ ball ammo. The ammo I have is Speer Gold Dot 124gr JHP 9mm ammo. It will not work at all. I called Aero about this. I was told that a PCC isn’t designed to fire anything but ball ammo and as such their EPC-9 won’t either. Huh? At my job we fire HK MP5 and Colt M635 in full auto with the same Speer Ammo! No issues! WTF?! Aero is hiding this and trying to dodge the issue. Pathetic. I had to send the barrel to Rudy Koester at Macon Armory in Georgia. He has been fixing this issue since the EPC-9 dropped. Why doesn’t Aero fix the issue?!?! I would not buy ANY AR15 rifle if I was told it would ONLY shoot 55gr FMJ ammo. Same applies here. Aero you’re WRONG FOR THIS!! I wish I’d saved my money and bought the CMMG Banshee. My buddy has it and it eats and shoots anything he feeds it.
This same feed issue actually plagues a large amount of 9mm pccs.
One reason why we push folks to the cmmg for that platform.
Yup same exact scenario for me. Sending my barrel to Rudy today. Aero is wrong for this 100%. Mine doesn't even feed fmj out of the box! Selling this after the problem is fixed and getting the cmmg parts
@@chrise4659 good to hear and thanks for sharing. The people I see posting about “my EPC-9 works great!” have gotta be lying ass-hats and/or paid by Aero to say such BS.
I have the Aero and am very pleased, I did an 11 inch barrel. The accuracy is very good. I’m running open sites due to the distance I shoot (less than 100 yds). I do like the delayed blow back but it is a little cost prohibitive.
Would this work with an Aero EPC-9 upper and lower, including LRBHO? What would you suggest for somebody who wants the CMMG radial delayed blowback system, with Glock mags, but wants to build something more affordable than an off-the-shelf Banshee?

Any updates? Just in planning stages of mine just read aero found the issue with their epc9 and hollow points / flat faced rounds..
this is using the cmmg magazines, bcg, and barrel so we wouldn't see any of those issues.
but overall it still works great, Joe probably recommended this setup to everyone we know.
