This is a 2013 F10 which uses the plastic drain plug (10mm allen to remove it) and 10W30 oil. Older models will have a metal drain plug. And the crush washer must be replaced each time. Copper crush washer will come with your new oil filter. Always replace the rubber o rings on the filter housing. Also comes with the new filter.

Great video well narrated! Jake's tech suggestions are superb!
Thank you. Not a true professional, but I try and research a lot before filming.
Thank you very much for this video!
wow awesome how to man! thanks for all the info!
i have the same car, same color too lol just 2012, cheers gonna try this tomorrow.
Let us know how it goes. Glad it was helpful.
Thank you so much for this... I have been looking for which socket to use for the drain plug but it doesn't really showed up when i searched on youtube. My 520i uses a plastic drain plug as well. I just bought the allen set and will try it when it comes. Cheers Jake!
Ya, threw me for a loop at first. Wasn't used to seeing a plastic drain plug. But it worked pretty well.
Good one!
Well done!!!!
Thank you Johnson.
Nice detailed video keep doing your thing nice i got the metal drain plug i believe its a 17mm socket to take off
Thanks for sharing. Let us know how it works out Jay. 👍
@@fixitwithjake just changed my oil it is a 17mm i used the small shallow lug im going to invest in the deep socket 17mm its 12$ on amazon i like the titan brand i used liquid moly green molygen 5 quarts and mann filter oil filter
you literally saved me a lot of money
That’s the point of most of my videos :)
Thank you for the video. I am wondering when you reset the oil change reminder, did the check engine light also disappear?
Yes it did.
What’s the metal ring for?
Which oil do I use
What did you do with third ring??
I don't understand? Did I forget something?
@@fixitwithjake look at 6:24. There are 3 rings there. What happened the third one?
@@attorney8452 I see what you mean now. I didn't use it. It is a crush washer I think. Doesn't work for this oil change as far as I know. Must be there for a different vehicle type. Sometimes filters come with washers that don't fit your car. I don't see it used in @autorepairguys video and he is very smart at 06:00 czcams.com/video/JRCrwep5n5g/video.html
What’s that lol metal ring for ??!sos
Can I use ramps?
Yes! Be safe :)
Do not torque down plastic oil filter housings
You can either tighten it down until the lubed ring o-ring disappears or use a torque wrench so you don't overtighten it. My wrench goes low enough.
