Yess being rwd its sick Porsche still has the best rwd record 0-60 .. it was tuned but still far less power then 720s
That's the benefit of having a fair bit of weight over the rear wheels.

And besides, the stock Porsche is 2 seconds off the Lamborghini. On a track as long as the nurburgring that can more than definitely be put down to driver ability and/or conditions.

The GT2 RS starts a way smoother than the jerky Aventador S and is so damn fast - Just sheer love to Porsche
Maybe because the Aventador has a single clutch gearbox vs the much faster dual clutch on the Porsche.
I don't think the clutch difference affects the launch (the Porsche also launches on a single of its two clutches). I think it's AWD vs RWD: the Lamborghini is trying to juggle torque between four wheels that have uneven grip on a nasty old runway.
And Porsche did a better job with the launch software. The Lamborghini's seems to be more of a party trick than something useful.

Ironically, the humble VW Beetle is to thank for all these VW Group Super Cars...If it wasnt for the cash inflow of the Beetle and its air-cooled siblings from those early years, there wouldnt be the cash capital at VW Group to have the R&D to own and develope the Porsche, Audi and Lamborghini super cars....I’m proud to have owned that ‘74 Super Beetle back in High School!

What an absolute monster Porsche made.
I was left with the thought, what's more important? drama and sound or precision and numbers? I guess we all look for different things in cars. I will never get enough of the sound the Aventador makes and conversations it starts thats for sure, it made me smile all day long and for sure is fast enough regardless of not winning.

Personally the breadth of ability of the 2RS is more appealing to me. It's such a refined weapon.

The result is not surprising. The 911 GT2 RS has race-proven design and engineering, resulting in lightning-quick acceleration, very minimal turbo lag, smooth, yet fast transmission, sharp handling, you name it!

Lamborghini's launch control is already insane, but at 4:30 you can see a little bit of the porsche when they are pulling away. LOOK AT THAT LAUNCH OF THE PORSCHE

Makes me wonder how the SVJ can be faster round the ring than the GT2RS. I know the SVJ has the fancy aero but the aero on the GT2RS isn’t exactly basic also the gearshifts are so much quicker. Look at the gap in a straight line between those two! It was more than a couple of car lengths.

Except that this isn't the SVJ that the GT2RS was drag racing against. And neither was this the a lap course around the "ring."
Yeah ,i wonder too.The SVJ has 4WD so maybe it has better grip on turns but it heavier.I honestly don't understand.It's 2.5 seconds quicker which is not a lot.Maybe Lamborghini tried more times and had more laps.
I think a lot of it is down to the driver. They’re probably really similar in the real world.

Awesome video! I really love the Aventador S and honestly all V12 big boy Lamborghinis way more than I previously did. They really are at the top of the supercar game as fast as true exciting street cars. Personal favorite is SE30 Diablo, the rawest and fastest of all Diablos followed by the Countach Downdraft carbonated model.

I went for a drive in a friends Aventador who also owns the Porsche and I asked him which one he prefers and this was his response.
He said the Porsche was like his wife, gentle and sweet but the Aventador was like his wild girlfriend.
He elaborated a bit more, but not suitable for posting here.

It's kind of embarrassing in 2018, that a 300k+ car is restricted on how many consecutive launches it can do. Even more embarrassing that a 740hp 4WD car gets stomped by a 700hp 2WD car on a launch.
Never was much of a fan of the Aventador, this was the final nail!
(Yes, I own lots of Porsche and am a bit of a fanboy, but you can't argue with facts in this video..)

Do you still really think the GT2 RS has 690bhp? There is zero chance of that, in the same way the 720S has 710BHP.....
The SVJ will just lose by slightly less. It's designed to be signicantly quicker in a straight line, just be quicker around a track.

Great matchup. I would just like to point out that a properly executed thrust mode launch in a Lamborghini Aventador does not require any manual shifting. Even though you are in Corsa or manual mode the computer will automatically shift at the redline. He shifts manually in this video and was probably not at the optimal shift point at the redline. I know this from launches in my Aventador SV. Also disabling the traction control really hurts the Lamborghini launching ability compared to Porsche launch control which leaves it enabled. That's why my Porsche 911 Turbo S launches a little harder than the Aventador SV.
