every dj in house today need to thank this man because he open up house to everyone in chicago he single handedly change my whole life for which im forever gratful to him rip mr ron hardy
I use to feel so embarassed walking from the underground all sweaty looking like I was in an accident....People going to church all dressed up and I look like I crawelled out the sewer ......I had a BALL and I do not regret any of it.........//What a beautiful time WE HAD!
I remember the free punch and fruit. I remember popping pills and watching the God Ron spin while everyone was screaming and sweating. I even remember dozing off only to be awakened by a favorite song and popping up like a Jack in the box to Jack once again! The Marathon parties!!!? Damn!!! Coming out of the club the next afternoon??? Yesssss... Chicago, Robert Williams and Ron Hardy did that shit!
I've been around for along time, circa 1985, I've seen every DJ from all around the world, you name em, I probably seen em! to this day, no one and I do mean no one did it like Ron Hardy!!! The things he did, and the way he did it, Omg! I wish everyone could experience this!!!
I knew Ron Hardy back to his days at Den One in Old Town. That was in 1975 or 76. He had an edit of Patti LaBelle "What Can You Do For Me" and "Messing With My Mind" playing back to back. I would go crazy every time he played that. Years later Ron would move to Los Angeles and I would go hear him jam at the Jewel's Catch One. Rest in Paradise Ron. Thanks for stopping by and blessing us with your music.
+Brandy “Nu Skool Sings Old School” Sanders That must've been Insane?! Those are two of my favorite songs by Labelle. Ron is a Legend and made my very-high school years worth talking about.
I would lose my mind when he would play that Patti LaBelle mix. I'm going to get my DJ to mix it like that for my next Disco Ball that I host in LA. Ron Hardy 4Ever.

I LIVED IN THE MUZIK BOX THURSDAY NIGHTS! DAT WAS MY SPOT!
I partied at the "Box" frequently! Went to a lot "Ronnie's Bday parties and don't mention the marathon parties that started 12 midnight Friday & ended 12 PM Sunday afternoon! If u missed it I feel so bad for U! I have witnessed people crying when Ron would really beat it! Rest easy "Ronnie"!!!
I can remember staying 72 hours at the music box it was great, good Ole days
it is my opinion that Ron Hardy is the greatest dj of all time
True that 💯
I Really Miss Him I First Heard Him At Candy Store Guess DJ for Farley. Man the Songs He was Playing MADE all the Other DJs Step there Game up in my Opinion. Farley included, Yes Technical DJ Farley was The Best!! Ron Hardy Changed the Game. Them DJs wasn't Going Deep like Him. When They Heard him Game was Over!! So your Right He was The Best. Farley. N Others Started going Deep too. Just listen to There early Mixes on BMX. And you'll see the Changes by 84. R my Case!!
Tyrone B was There Till 91. It was Over, The last Song he Beat on Lake Street was My Love Is Free.
Much love Robert. Did not know this was out there young man.
It's so great to read the memories of those who attended the Muzic Box. OMG you are so lucky to have experienced that! ... Sadly I never got to see Ron perform live. I understand he opened his sets with Welcome to the Pleasuredome - (one of my all time favourite tunes) and he performed at Ministry of Sound, London soon after it first opened - later to become a legendary venue.
1st time hearing this :-) My Mann is on Super-Point! My boy Chris was tryn 2 get me to stop going 2 Mendel & go 2 "The Box"...saw Jamie Principle @ Mendel (Last Time)...100% "Box" after that! So crazy, I actually use 2 check ID's at "The Box" for 3 yrs...UNBELIEVABLE! "The Box" was so intense...you show up at midnite thru 1:30am (about 10 ways to get there)..in mid-January..leave "The Box" at 8am, with just a shirt on & jeans NO COAT..w/smoke coming up off yo azz! (minus zero temps)!
Ooooh, "The Marathons" :-)))))) If you weren't there to experience...you will NEVER Get It!! Those Days are Gone 4-Ever...Damnnnnnnnn

Hell naw. That photo @ 5:30 is me bottom row in the middle. Always loved the Box. Sure do miss it.
Wow! It's exactly like the way he described it. I was going to both clubs. The 1015 on Friday and the box on Saturday. He is not exaggerating one bit in his description of the way we would go in at about 1 am, and come out soaking wet, and exhausted from jacking and and slam dancing all night. Wow! Wow! Wow! Fall of 84 was crazy!
That's so true I would walk out the Music Box drenched in sweat. and in Chicago during the winter cold nights you be freezing your ass off running to your car at the end of the party. Your shirt underwear pants everything was soaking wet... Oh I loved it that's when people started bring hand towels to the club to wipe their faces...
The high parts of my brains was sampled. Results was harry, hermonie and Ron weasley after my favorite DJ . Ron Hardy.
I miss you Ronnie!! 😔

Gemo & Fabrice Vs. Street Vibes - Walking
It is EVIDENT you were NOT there! And you have NO IDEAL who Robert is & that he is responsible for what we know as HOUSE music!
Do some freaking research... because "he did do this... he did do that... he was the owner, the promoter, a dancer & he could DJ!!!" He is a Chicagoan that grew & was influenced by New York's underground wonderous scene & brought that spark to Chicago... Where with Frankie HOUSE MUSIC was BORN... and grew with Ron Hardy!
I went there & I knew Ron & I know Robert!
