James I just wanted to thankyou, I had a rough upbringing aswell. I always thought gambling was a quick fix after never having money. Im 34 now and ive finally realised its been the cause of all my problems for the last 15+ years. After stumbling upon your podcasts a few months ago you have given me the inspiration to turn my life around. Im a single dad and I now have a completely different and positive outlook going forward, to give me and my son a better life. Keep up the good work 👍

Now I understand better why James has become the nation's favorite podcast! A very real and insightful Life experience that he shares candidly in here. Like him the book that changed my life was "The Power of Now" (and all the other books by Eckhart Tolle) so I can really relate. And Elliot Reeves does a great job at interviewing a great interviewer!!!

Definitely hit a nerve - as someone who had lost themselves and i am trying to claw the old me back it really helps to know that there is someone who gets it. From the outside I may have a lot of blessings but the mental torture I put myself through day in day out is cripling and ruining relationships with those closest to me. Hi James, I've been watching your podcasts for a while now, but I found your story/testimony really inspiring. I am 34, I was born with a cerebral cyst that went undetected for 13 years and I've had my fair share of battles. Gaining employment has been extremely difficult because employers down the south of England where I am are reluctant to employ with brain conditions. Of course, it gets me down, the boredom and I started drinking. I am still unemployed, but my mindset has changed though it is still quite challenging, not drinking as much as I have been doing online workouts. Watching these podcasts really does good to show that even the impossible can be made possible if we work at it.

I’m at that point now where if I don’t concentrate on the light inside me, because I do have skills, then I’m just a day closer to death and another day away from letting the universe in.

Hi James.. this interview really changed my mindset and I was exactly the same for years.. wasn't really a drinker.. Just socially I drank but when I did it would lead to cocaine.. I used to think to myself I didn't have a problem. But I obviously did cuz couldn't drink without taking cocaine.. At first it's just a thing you did with ya mates why out drinking. Next thing your drinking n taking the coke at home without no one knowing.. It's a slippery slope. Once I'd drink and take coke you find yourself lying to those close to you and I'd ruin relationships and jobs I've lost because of drink n cocaine.. I've changed it around but not 💯 there yet has I do rarely go out for a beer n tend to want a line everything your second pint goes down.. But I have kicked the beer out of my life now and I'm a totally different person. And my mindset is great now.. Set me own business up and in a good place mentally.. I seen you at Blackpool pleasure beach last Sunday and was going to come over and tell you thanks for this interview really hit home to Me and changes how I was living.. Didn't want to intrude though so didn't introduce me self.. Anyway thanks James for this interview and thanks for letting me see there's more to life than drinking n being daft.. Cheers buddy 😁

James, believe me I'm 51years old, got off heroin 25 years ago, relapsed back on it 5years now, lost my mum 2years ago, I get up in the morning with all intentions of not using but it's like I'm programmed to do it, & I'm struggling, think underneath all the drugs is depression, without using it feels like walking about with no limbs, using is so natural ,once I've done it I'm complete, a negative feels like my positive, but its should be the other way round, addiction I'm sick of it....thanks for your podcast

That was really good james. Don’t be too hard on yourself eating crisps. You hit the nail on the head. Living in the moment. Mastering living in the moment is the key for us all to be happy but we have built in forgetters. We forget how to be happy. We’ve been conditioned to think that we’re defined by status and material possessions. Peace and contentment is what I’m after đŸ™đŸ». I can go to bed at night feeling happy, motivated but as soon as I wake up I’ve forgotten. Need to write things down or it all gone til I go to bed the following night đŸ€” I sent my son this vid. James, what your saying here really resonates with me. I get it. I don't live in Glasgow but have been bought up with a Glaswegian parent and family and known many 'Jocks' growing up. The toughness and criticism is inherent as well as being great people, good fun there is IMPE the reckless behaviour to mask unhappiness. I reckon if I'd met you years ago, I'd have judged you and said you had a big arrogant ego. I wasn't at my most happiness for years either but now I'd be able to talk to you for hours and it would be enlightening for both of us. Loving what your doing ❀

This podcast was bang on regarding addiction, im 45 & was addicted to heroin for nearly 20 years, i came from a good honest family and got into drugs thru the usual route, progressing from 1 to the other, by 20 i was living a double life, i had a job and long term girlfriend, gradually i lost 1 then the other, then ended up living on the streets and committing crimes to feed my habit, then ended up starting prison sentences 1 after the other, but i was a late starter i hadn't been in trouble until i was 25,usually criminals are getting out of trouble, after one sentence i thought fuck it and moved away, im back on track, but live with addiction everyday still, the recovery program your starting, jumped out at me because we need to try something different to the normal ways, your a good man James and i wish you all the very best in the future, thanks for been yourself, 👍

I think there is a lot of truth in this "spiritual awakening". I feel that you truly have to hit rock bottom and realise it before things start to improve. I didn't realise it at the time but I realise it now. I was dealing with severe mental health problems. Getting out of that and recovering to the place I am in now is unquestionably my greatest achievement. My advice to people is that the truth sets you free. There's nothing wrong with saying "Yes, I have pretty much given up". "Yes, I have treated people like shit", "No, this isn't the way I want it to be" etc. Then you're in a position to do something about it.
